AKUMAL, MEXICO (TRAVEL GUIDE)

Scenic drone clips and underwater footage of AKUMAL, MEXICO including the Yal Ku Lagoon, Half Moon Bay, Akumal Bay and the town of Akumal. I first took the Colectivo bus from Playa Del Carmen for just 40 Pesos down to the famous town of Akumal and then explored the whole area.
Akumal is a coastal resort on Mexico’s Riviera Maya, on the Yucatán Peninsula. Akumal Beach has white sands, a coral reef and warm waters rich in marine life, including turtles. To the north, Half Moon Bay has a curved beach, while Yal-ku Lagoon teems with colorful tropical fish, plus stingrays and barracudas.

You captured the beauty and uniqueness of Akumal. The lagoon, with its blue tang fish, is perfect for all levels of snorkelers. Along Half Moon Bay and Akumal Bay are wonderful small open air restaurants. Beyond its beauty, the people of Akumal are warm and welcoming.

We went snorkeling in Akumal Bay July 6, 2021. We saw 3 huge turtles, a stingray, squids, and a lot of beautiful fish! It’s been the best experience I’ve had in the riviera maya! I wish we would have gotten the beautiful views you got in this video though, because we got a bunch of sargassum during my stay.

Akumal is my favorite beach destination. We first visited in May of 2012. We’ve stayed many times at Hotel Akumal Caribe. You did a great job bringing life to the beauty of Akumal. Thanks for your great travel videos. I really appreciate that you include the cost and helpful tips about how to get around Mexico. We're taking a trip to Cozumel in May of this year. It will be our fifth trip to the Yucatan Peninsula. We were planning on going to Akumal Bay this year, but we had to change our vacation dates from March to May so we're going to Cozumel to avoid the Sargassum season. We love to snorkel and I really enjoy being able to get a preview of the snorkeling in the areas you traveled to.
