  • This is a difficult build and not for beginners or those with heart problems. Kitty Hawk has a reputation for tough builds and this is no exception. While I like the final result and the kit met my goals, it suffers from engineering flaws and errors. The kit is expensive and can only be recommended if you must have a 1/35 scale Black Hawk.
My goal here was to model a Somalia era Black Hawk (1993). I imagined that this machine would not have participated on the day of the large battle (as depicted in the movie “Black Hawk Down”), but rather stayed at the base.
For reference, I recommend Mark Bowden’s book (Black Hawk Down). The movie of the same name has some inaccuracies, but (with the willing participation of the US military) it sets the gold standard for accurate equipment in a Hollywood blockbuster. There is very little CGI and the flying scenes from both inside and outside the helicopters are gorgeously filmed.
The kit itself has stunning detail in a lot of areas. The engineering is sometimes good, but can be frustrating. There are many weapon choices included if you want to do a gunship (not so applicable on troop ships). I used two Live Resin M-134 Gatling guns as the kit parts were average. I was somewhat let down by the cost of the Live Resin kits (one had to be ordered for each side) and the absence of any instructions whatsoever.
There are only a few photos of the 160th SOAR helicopters from this deployment. This was before the days when everyone had a digital camera. The 160th is a special operations unit with some level of secrecy, and I would imagine a camera on operations would be frowned upon.
Most of the helicopters had names painted on them by the crew chiefs. “Heavy Metal”, “Thunderstruck” and “Razors Edge” were all examples found in Somalia. As these machines have a (somewhat) common AC/DC inspired naming convention, I decided to label mine “Back in Black” (seems natural for a “Black” Hawk, don’t you think?).
The helicopters also had large white numbers (possibly tape?) on the crew doors. I selected 69 as my number as I can find no record of it. The Black Hawk radio call signs were “Super” followed by the helicopter number. Thus, this machine would be “Super-69”.

That is, if I buy one of these expensive 1/35 scale MH-60L Kidults. Fuel tanks on the left and right sides centered on the fuselage are standard, and the "Wolfpack Conversion Kit" is modeled with plastic model parts at 1/35 scale using a modeling program called 'Cinema 4D'. The modeled data is printed as plastic model parts using a 3D printer. We plan to assemble and color the printed plastic model parts and install them on the left and right sides of this aircraft! 4:31

Very nice Dfens Sixs. A lot of patience and frustration, at times, I am sure. The video was well done.

Is this a re-pop of the Academy kit?

If only I could get my hands on this 1/35 scale Black Hawk Kidult!. I'm thinking of modifying the instrument panel first! The instrument panel I think of is a digital LED instrument panel that is printed on decal paper and pasted on the instrument panel to replace it with the latest model. In addition, the inside is decorated with characters "Romi", "Maya", and "Mary Lou" from the cartoon "Catch Tiniping". Give me a ride as a pilot and flight attendant. On the outside, we plan to install fuel tanks on the left and right and a Wolfpack conversion kit called ETS! 4:04

But is it appropriate to color using lacquer paint and acrylic paint alternately? 3:14

If I were to assemble this model! I made a wolf pack conversion kit and installed it on the left and right sides of the fuselage, and I would like to paint the 'lace [striped expression]' with an airbrush using the Korean 119 helicopter version! 4:07

119 If you want to express it as a helicopter. The fuselage was first airbrushed white, and when the white paint dried, masking tape was applied. Then, stripes [lace] were painted on the top and bottom of the fuselage with red paint. Once the paint was dry, additional masking tape was applied to the top. After painting the stripes with yellow paint, you can express it as a 119 helicopter! 4:45

As with the Hobby Boss 1:32nd-scale kit of the Consolidated B-24D Liberator USAAF Heavy Bomber, I very much want to watch your video; I had the Academy 1:48th-scale kit of the Sikorsky UH-60 Blackhawk U.S. Army Utility Helicopter . . . (that is a long story! :( SMH). As before, the bright white screen makes my eyes' too photosensitive to do so.

The stubby parts for the exterior is what you would use if you're wanting to build a spec ops troop carrier with the rope attached to the roof of the helicopter, and there's even parts for the Auxiliary Fuel Tank...
I'm still focusing on the front cockpit and rear cabin for now, but I'm planning on having to do a lot of work to fix whatever problems that I run into??? I'm hearing all kinds of problems with the Kitty Hawk helicopter kits and I'm hoping for someone to buy their molds and improve in them for us helicopter modelers????
