We hiked Catbells in July. One of my mates wanted to do Blencathra but non of the guys were up for it. Catbells was challenging enough for me. ha ha. The views across Derwentwater on the way down were spectacular. Nice video
Truly wonderful video. Well done. The quality and choice of the images is superb. So much better than the stuff on TV where the beauty of the scenery is interuptec with long chats with local tradesmen about slatemines and kendalmint cake etc. This is what I want to see..the gorgeous countryside in all its glory from every angle. What a great job you have done. Keep up this fine work. Cant wait to get back to Keswick..its like heaven up there.
Great, great video , showed it all and good quality as well 👍really nice to see the map of your route , important for me as i like my maps and knowing your exact route thanks 🌟
@@WalkingintheWildwithJoeJackson Thanks for the encouragement, but I think I’m going to just walk the lower route at the foot of Cat Bells. If I’m dizzy watching your vid, the real thing will probably be too high and exposed for me.
@@sensational_cellar8606it wasn’t for me and I’m pretty afraid of heights but getting to the top and seeing the amazing view is so worth it , i did cat bells end of last year, in April this year and I’m doing it in a few days as well😊😊
I think this was actually filmed in September a few years back. There's enough parking for probably 15 cars so you need to get here early. Probably about 9amto stand a chance, if not earlier! It can depend on the time of year. In winter it will be free most of the time.
Yes they both do, hawse end is on the northern side, by derwent water. Hause Gate is just south of the summit, and the name of the depression between Catbells and Maiden Moor
This is right next to my house. So funny how 99% of people on days out chose to go up Cat Bells when there's literally 100 other mountains nearby that only a few people go up a day

A lovely video with some spectacular shots.
Nice to see you steppin' out around the Lake District.

Glad you had a good hike up there. Lovely little fell!
We went up Cat Bells a few weeks ago, we walked from Keswick then up, then back to keswick. I was wrecked but I am getting on a bit.
Thank you, I really enjoyed that. I'm a road cyclist and I frequently go up there as far as the road will allow and wonder about some of those tracks.

Thank you so much for the great feedback! So happy you enjoyed it! :)
It is like heaven 🤩
Thanks! I’m climbing this tomorrow with my partner! ❤️
Enjoy the walk!
Well I’m here now and we are doing all this tomorrow. Weather so far is ok
Woo! Enjoy the walk! The first bit is steep up to Skelgill Bank but keep going, the view is worth it!
@@WalkingintheWildwithJoeJackson thx we are going around Derwent lake first looks beautiful

Great video. It’s inspired me to do a video for my channel. Cheers
Nice vid. I have managed Scafell Pike but not this I can’t scramble the middle bit as I have a fear of heights but will do it poss December this year
The scramble bit is very easy and im sure you will have no issues. I think there might be a path round the side...
Joe Jackson there is but it’s very close to the edge. I will definitely complete it because I have failed three times now. 👍
Nice
I've never been up there hopefully in the near future I will.
I’ve been twice so worth it for the views hope you get to do it though 😊
Looks terrifying, even makes my legs go to jelly watching the video. Unfortunately I’ve agreed to try this tomorrow morning.
Enjoy! Its a superb walk and offers amazing views!

@@evie-grace14 Well done! I just ended up walking round Derwent Water and down to Grange and Rothswaite, then on to Watendlath
@@sensational_cellar8606 ThankYou! Sounds nice might try what you did as well😀
Thank you. Did you record this in November? How early do you need to get to the car park to find a parking place? Cheers

Are there any rest spots for benches to sit on?
Not that I can recall. Lots of open fellside to sit on and some rocks at the top
You said "Hawes Gate", but the guides say "Hawes End", do both exist?
Yes they both do, hawse end is on the northern side, by derwent water. Hause Gate is just south of the summit, and the name of the depression between Catbells and Maiden Moor
@@WalkingintheWildwithJoeJackson Thank you kindly, that's a nugget I will definitely aim to use, having just had my brother do the route. :)
Hi
How long did this take please?
Usual is about 2 hours, maybe just a little more if you have not done any hill walking before.
What camera do you use? Amazing quality!
A mixture really, currently using a GoPro Hero7, Mavic Air and Sony A7RIII. I think I used my Samsung Galaxy S7 on the Catbells video though.
Is there any other way to avoid the scramble in the video?
Im pretty sure if you keep to the far left then most of the scramble is missed out.
@@WalkingintheWildwithJoeJackson cheers mate
