I just got casted last week 😘
I'm just as excited to see you take your first steps as an AKA, as well as my own when that happens.
Your videos have been such a HUGE help to so many!!!
Thank you for sharing your journey with all of us 😊

I've recently subscribed to your channel and watched a lot of your EDS videos. I'm super inspired by all your content. I myself have hypermobility EDS (type 3) plus fibromyalgia. I'm not an amputee, but I still really enjoy watching your content. Just from watching yourself and a few other inspirational channels, I've decided to set up my own, vlogging channel to inspire others and hopefully help them with EDS hypermobility. Your truly an awesome person 😀

Good job using your crutches, I could not use the crutches as well as you I was always falling. I have a BKA so I have a prosthetic leg now which I am very thankful for.

Great videos, I have just met a lovely lady who is an amputee, and these videos are great. I can get all the information I need without having to ask her. I want to understand as much as I can. Thank you

when i see a person going up and down stairs using their but, im thinking hero. because we tend to overlook people like this who add value to our lives ( producing videos), while we can clearly see it is being authentically done for others. after all, at the end of the day, life is about selfless ( no egoic) service to life

Great post Christina 👌🏻 I do a mixture of all of those. Trust me when you get your prosthetic going up steps step over step is a full on workout 🥵 going down stairs step over step is freaky it’s kinda like semi controlled free falling, which is just how it feels walking down steep slopes 🤣😂🤣 it’s sometime easier to go down slopes sideways 🦀 So great to see that you’re kicking ass out of your rehab 🦸🏻‍♀️🤗🦿🤗

I LOVE those crutch tips!!! Ergocaps were a game changer for me. I am a long time crutch user and actually looking forward to being a crutch user after my hip disarticulation. Are those ergobaums?
By the way, my favorite way of going down the stairs if there is a lawn, would be to roll down the hill.

I was out of the hospital 6 days after my AKA. I couldn't hop up the stairs without feeling that the clips were gonna bust open. One by one had to go up sitting down. After a week I was hoping up and down.

you make it look so easy. i feel so unstable on crutches. any tips on how to get over that feeling. i am 39, lost my left foot to Charcot Arthropathy last November and i am still waiting on my prosthesis. i have been stuck in my chair and have gained some weight due to lack of exercise and this is getting old. i just want some independence from the chair

I was hoping for a railing slide.
I have a knee that doesn’t work right and often end up using a handrail like a crutch and just pretend that leg isn’t there rather than let it get in the way,

Wow i literally just received the same design of crutches as the one your using and i walked 5 steps with them and already put bavk in box to return to amazon because i just dont feel they are sturdy enough for me i feel like they are going to fall off my hands idk they just feel different im used to the more common crutches now ive only bin an amputee just 30 days today surgery was march 4th i have healed well and im just trying to find what crutches work best for me im 5,10 tall 220 pounds maybe i need a bit more practice and getting used to using these type of crutches isk maybe ill take them out the box and give them a second chance after seeing how easy you made it look i will sub and give a like and god bless

    • @AmputeeOT
      @AmputeeOT  2 роки тому

Yes practice! Forearm crutches require more arm muscles. Which means you can grow some more arm muscles from using them :)

Even though I was using crutches prior to amputation, and I was SUPPOSED to be non-weight bearing on my bad foot, if I lost my balance that foot would shoot out to catch me. Yesterday in PT it happened, and my stump went out in front, but nothing there

I lost my leg last November 2019. I should have had a fake leg by now but I'm afraid to get one because I'm afraid of infection. And my doctor did a really bad job and I have a big scar still because my doctor left the stitches in for 2 months and 3 weeks. I'm not really missing having a leg I'm afraid to get one. But I did order one and if it starts breaking down I will not use my fake leg I can do almost anything with one leg anybody else can do with two. I was thinking of getting a electric wheelchair instead I got an electric bike ecotric hammer. And when I get my leg I can use this bike to exercise
