I've always been a big fan of the skybusters. The Skgrabber looks to be inspired by the KA-52. The Backdraft looks to be VERY loosley based on a Blackburn Buckaneer.

The way backdraft looks honestly heavily reminds me of the macross toy from the 80's specifically, the one that would be later rebranded as jetfire/skyfire under the transformers.
Probably an intentional homage.
Probably - a lot of current Mattel designers grew up in that era, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was connected design wise!
@@64Wheels plus there are rumours of a possible collab going with hasbro and mattel.
Im expecting a ROTB or G1 series of premiums from mattel, and possibly a collaboration special from hasbro's collaborative line.
@Turbo.RF4 I know they signed an agreement between the two to make Hot Wheels branded Transformers products supposedly being released in early 2024, so that would be awesome!

They are actually cell phone stands from Dollar Tree! They work great for holding cars up though

Just like regular Matchbox cars, the planes have a metal body structure and plastic “chassis” usually. So all the Skybusters planes have both metal and plastic parts.
