- Looking for the perfect commuter scooter? Yamaha could have you covered with their 2021 NMAX 125 and D’elight 125cc scooters. They may both approach the 125cc scooter mobility market from two different points, but the result is two easy to ride scoots with tonnes of character.
The launch for the scooters was in sunny Peterborough, which gave us the perfect opportunity to test the scooters on what would be a regular commute on UK roads - could these be the best 125cc scooters on the market?
The #Yamaha #NMAX has variable valve actuation and traction control for super sports feel, whilst the #Delight is a super simple and fun ride!
Helmet: AGV K6 Minimal
Jacket: RST Rider Dark

The NMax is a huge hit here in Brazil, alongside the Honda PCX, we see tons of them in the streets. The difference is our NMax has a 160cc motor in it.
The 155cc will arrive in EU in August or September.
And for a very good reason! Lucky you! I really want the 155, but sadly in Europe only 125 is available
@@fotistsolos482 it will not
@@paulwhat322 The 155 nmax is available in Holland.
@@Vanrides. Yeah, I know it is now, but I bought mine when it first came out like 2 years ago. Now I don't know if it's worth the trade up
Thank you. Someone 6ft+ doing a scooter review.
Nice presentation... Awesome colour for the NMAX. I think the Porsche got jealous and started following you.
Thanks for watching!
Maybe I can help someone with my comment to make the right personal choice.
I'm 184 cm tall. I am a male with experience of 20 years riding various motorcycles and one scooter for 3 years; Suzuki Burgman 150. I need now something to ride in a suit to work. I went to the Yamaha dealership and... below are my subjective impressions.
I first rode Delight, then Nmax. This was the tactic of the salesman, who strongly recommended the Nmax to me and claimed that if I rode the Nmax after the D'elight I would have no doubts why I should choose the Nmax. This was in line with my intentions. However, the opposite happened ;)
The D'elight was a mega positive surprise for me, whereas on the same ride I was totally disappointed with the Nmax.
Getting on the little Yamaha for the first time you start to enjoy the ride right away. After a few hundred meters you have to remind yourself that you are sitting on a scooter, which puts a smile on your face. Everything is very intuitive and easy. Including the classic clocks.
Nmax you have to learn a bit. How to lean in a turn. How to stick your foot out, how to turn and brake.
The D'elight brakes are incredibly effective and stop the scooter in place, while the much heavier Nmax brakes like a locomotive while waiting for the ABS to react.... and when that finally happens, you pray that the scooter will finally come to a stop.
Driving the Delight, you can feel what's happening under the wheels. On the Nmax I missed that feedback. I felt a bit like I was on a too soft suspension, providing comfort but not giving the same feeling of safety as on the small D'elight wheels with theoretically worse suspension characteristics. Maybe it's a setup issue.
The D'elight is incredibly maneuverable, while the Nmax is neither a Burgman 125-type maxi scooter nor an agile SH 125-type scooter. On the little Yamaha, the under-seat storage compartment is more practical and seems bigger. In the Nmax, it's some kind of misunderstanding.
And I don't know how it happens, but the D'elight engine didn't seem much weaker than the Nmax engine in city driving at all. I felt a little difference in advantage of the Nmax during a steep uphill climb (Max speed on that road: 53kmh of Delight vs 57 kmh of Nmax).
On the D'elight I have only one problem. Poor wind protection for knees and that is a big mistake by the designers. This is what we buy a scooter for, to hide from wind and rain, and here, unfortunately, with my average height, my knees stick out slightly above the front cover (what you can also see in this video). Other than that, the D'elight is a fantastic scooter for shorter people.
Best to all of you!
Has fit me absolutely fine
What helmet you’ve got? Looks cool!
The Nmax needs a tall screen and a longer wheel base for long legs. Seems like the handle is touching your knees
Weight?power ?difference in wheel sizes?braking setup ?hhmmm
Am I the only one that got distracted by the 911 GT3 RS on the background? I couldn't see anything else xD
Weight and brunt?
Awesome
Hi! How reliable is vva system on nmax? Thanks
Very reliable. Just keep up maintenance and servicing and it won't give you any trouble.
I am 1.65 cm short :) on this scooter N-MAZ do I touch it with my feet?
Yes. Don't worry
💖💖👏🏼👏🏼
9:47 I would just sell the R1 and get a naked 700 cc bike like an MT07 or a nice cruiser.
What’s the NMax top speed?
70mph maybe abit more downhill with no wind.
My nmax 155 124km/jam, from Indonesia
it could have been more
80 km. That's what it's designed for. It will do 100 but not comfortably
6 Foot free ?
and "commu'er". "Scoo'er".
English 😅
Zzzzz. Where are the MT09 and Tracer 9 launch videos please ?
Nmax made in Indonesia, here we get nmax 155cc
Finally ada indo
The Delight is grossly over-priced. You can buy a Honda SH125 mode with a lot more room, much bigger wheels and much more power for the same new price or less!
Sh costs more than pcx and nmax
@@paulwhat322 De'Light is £600 less than the Honda Sh125.
@@jamesfirth2392 Yes but with dealer discounts it gets very close to a similar price.
*Im waiting for me Yamaha Nmax 125 at 1 April 2021😆😆😆*
I just bought mine.
@@paulwhat322 How do you like it? I just bought mine, comes next week. Do you have some tips and tricks that I should keep in mind? Have you encountered any struggles or problems?
@@Kellah91Official hey. Congratulations. I haven't used it since summer but one tip I would give is get the grey gloss one. I got the phantom blue. It's beautiful but always looks dirty. The storage isn't great and it's less economical and less maneuverable and balanced around the city than the honda pcx. Those are the negatives. Other than that it's absolutely amazing. Smooth, comfortable even 2up, awesome breaks and sounds. I fact it feels too premium for it's price segment. Enjoy! Let me know how it goes
Its £3400otr
It's twisty and turney....Ha ha ha ha ha
Fun fact; nmax is actually 2020 model. It just took it a year to reach the arsehole of the world called Europe!
