Once again I was very excited for this new Prada Luna Rossa Black a flanker to the very popular Prada collection of fragrances called Luna Rossa. Prada Luna Rossa Black is the very first fragrance that I have purchased in this Luna Rossa collection. I immediately fell in love with the bottle so I had to pick it up and on initial sprays, Luna Rossa Black reminded me of something else that I have worn in the past also called Black. Finally, it hit me that Prada Luna Rossa Black reminds me a lot of Bvlgari Black.

I own both Prada Luna Rossa Black and Bvlgari Black. They have some similarities in their character but the Prada is definitely not a clone. While BB is great, I think the Prada is a bit better scent, longer lasting, and has an even more heavenly drydown. One of the best designers from the last couple years in my opinion.. It's not nearly as close to BB as you're making it sound in this review...Anyway it's all subjective, but it's good to hear your take on it.
I have both as well and also midnight in paris. I think Prada smells pretty damn close to both of those. But more like Bulgari. I dont think he over did it in this review. But it could just be your skin. Everyone's skin reacts differently to the chemicals in the frags.

Well I have to say that I did pick this one up and I Really love it! Never smelled B black. I have about 80 bottles of cologne in my collection and I don't have anything that smells like this so to me its a great welcome to the collection. Ill be sporting LR black a lot!

I feel like it would smell a lot more like the Bvlgari if you own the Bvlgari and wear it all the time. I just have the decant that I won from your video, and comparing them side by side I don’t think that the Prada is a clone. Similar aspects, but not the same thing. The Bvlgari smells way more similar to Midnight in Paris in my opinion. Great video!
To me, Prada Lunna Rossa Black is the classiest fragrance next to Dior Homme. Believe it. I never tried Bvlgari Black because the smell of rubber gives me an instant headache so I have nothing to compare it to.
Great review Seb! You are right, when I smelled this I thought I had smelled it before. When you told me that it smells like Bvlgari Black, I sprayed Luna Rossa Black and Midnight in Paris (since I heard it smells alot like BB) side by side. They are really similar! MIP is a bit smoother though, but yeah LRB is definitely redundant.
In my opinion to this new release prada luna rossa is well and great scent. Very powerful and high quality longlasting from start to finish. I have a 1.2 ml probe in my night table and I smell every time that I remember or watch the UA-cam reviews. 😊

Sebastian. I saw this review and immediately i went to my local fragrance store to see if they had this. And they did. Im a huge fan o Bvlgari Black but i cant find it anywhere. Even on line its hard. And yes it is discontinued. So i was expecting a house to release something similar. Well. Yes this reminds of B. Black in the opening but thats it. The drydown is very different. So im guessing this review is based on the opening.? The rubbery note isnt enough to really smell like B.b but i do get the similarities. Anw i bought it cause i believe its a good release on its own. All the best.
I love this fragrance as bvlgari black doesn't last on me one bit. Its a bit more complex and lasts forever. In the designer realm everything is recycled. You learn to thin the heard and pick the best of the best.
This scent is awesome- I don't care for any of the Luna Rossa's but this one is a great creation. Perhaps one of the best of 2018 for me.
How is the projection of prada black
I've never smelled BB, but I love Prada LRB. It's a great release. It's sweet, smooth, soft... I'm definitely gonna wear it in cold seasons. I think they took BB and sort of modernizing it? Let's put it this way, if it wasn't for Prada LRB I would've never known about BB.
I like Prada Black also.

Speaking of rubber notes and black presentations, how is this in relation to Prada Amber Extreme? I have that and am curious if LRB will be redundant. I'm thinking the share a similar space now.
This smells nothing like the original, as I understand it this is the first of the line that doesn’t have any lavender. I had never heard of BB, I picked this up and so far I really enjoy it. Time will tell how often I reach for it. Another great review.
Hey Sebastian great review! I have a sample of this and I find the scent to be similar to Le Male, I have a reformulated version, on my skin but it lasted a lot longer and is a bit sweeter. Lavender isn't officially listed from what I've seen but I do detect it on my skin. I've yet to smell Bvlgari Black, but I do like the performance of this scent and may pick up a bottle when it cools down here in OKC.
You detected correctly 4 yrs ago. It has lavender for sure. Confirmed.
100% got Le Male. It also just felt like a fragrance ive smelled a thousand x before. Not saying it smells bad but it’s just so uninteresting

I sort of prefer this one to the other 2. MIP is nice too. I have the EDP version. This one is easier and I find it to be slightly more masculine than MIP and classier than BB. Nice review as always and my SOTE is Music for A While.
Sebastian there has been some major hype on this fragrance . Went to the mall and tried it , well was hoping to like it and it smelled very generic . But you are right this does smell close to Bvlgari Black .Thank you for a great video enjoyed it .
I wish I knew more about fragrances because I have no idea how something that smells of rubber or burnt rubber could be appealing. Does the perfumer think they've got the iris, lavender and citrus and then think 'this needs more car tire?

Hi Sabastian your right. They would be redundant if your not a collector. But, for me Bvlgari Black wears smooth on my skin to were as Prada Luna Rosa Black has a more musky feel that I enjoy also. Bvlgari Black wins for me. Oh yeah, Bvlgari Black is not what it was in the 90's but it still has legs. Imo Bvlgari Black launch batch would not be redundant because of the rubberish experience was more prominent.

It’s a shame that Prada has done this but this company isn’t alone unfortunately with the overwhelming amount of fragrances out the you have to expect it.

OMG I found this vid by accident and those were exactly my thoughts. Bvlgari black used to be my favorite parfum like 20 years ago. When I smelled Luna Rossa Black it reminded me immediately of it. I think it lasts less than the Bvlgari though.
Need to check, man I like the sound of this one. But never tried the Bulgari.
I’m one of those who is baffled by the claims of extreme similarity between these two. Perhaps because of my idiosyncratic nose, or the formulation of BB that I have, I find BB’s rubber note to be definitive. As a result, I like PLRB well enough but can’t tolerate BB. I suspect I may be more sensitive to the rubber note than some, but, even so, I find the experience of wearing these two to be quite different.
They are distant relatives not identical. :)
little late, but i just got prada black and i find it reminds me alot of armani code dna. Now i dont own bvlgari black but i do have a midnight in paris (which is heavenly and disappointed it has been discountinue), and in comparison I dont think in terms of smell they are different but are designed for the same purpose . overall good but still prefer mip as it is smoother and fresher.

This is supposed to be a replacement for prada lr sport, that has been pulled off the shelves. I don't think they are that similar to be a replacement, and this doesn't last to boot.

I dont get the leather in Prada and I dont get the herbal Liquorice smell in bulgari... I guess they have similarities.. they dont seem the same to me....

They are not identical but from the same family. Last longer it's moderate performance. Great designer release I think! :)

I would like to hear your take on Trussardi Amber Oud which to me smells like oud immersed in wine and also My Land Trussardi which everybody say it smells like CH Men Carolina Herrera but to me it smells like L'Homme Yves Saint Laurent just a bit lighter

Loved Bulgari Black, was my daily wear. I have Prada Luna Rossa Black but find it less impressive! Smoother than BB and not quite the same, less projection, less longevity, in fact I could hardly smell the fragrance at all but now having left the bottle for a year it has improved a little.

Not much different than niche houses having very similar scents and people still buy them and seems ok cause they’re niche and much more expensive.

To get even, Bvlgari will release Bvlgari Aqua Extreme ha ha. Not impressed by the Luna Rossa line and their latest release, Black, did not change that.

I keep hearing this about clones;...."it smells just like Creed, it smells just like Baccarat Rouge"....but it doesn't and it's not the same ingredients even. So I check the Bvlgari Black ingredients....not the same at all. I'm gonna try Prada Black. The intial spray smells too sweet, but the drydown is killer....sex in a bottle they say.

sorry to hear that.it lasts on me 8 hours in high heat night time and projects so wonderfully :) bvlgari black is so disappointing it lasts about 2 hours max with no projection at all.midnight in paris is way better.but then again its always subjective.great review once again
8 hours? Damn! I will test it in high heat. Haven't had the high heat yet here it's been pretty cool which is a blessing as I can't stand the heat! Maybe Bvlgari Black has been reformulated further yet from when I bought it 2/3 years ago. Midnight In Paris is great yes but I find it less similar to this than Bvlgari Black.
yes brother.bvlgari black was severely toned down,new ones are so so so weak its ridiculous,but this baby right here projects on me and my gf like from good 10 feet away even after 5 hours mark...but i guess its gonna be amazing for colder nights, something about luna rossa sport , made me fall in love with the black, i was very lucky to get such performance, the smell is sensual, and prada never makes any unpleasant smell :) but i always respect your takes, i skipped the new guerlain darker one because of your review....made me a lil sad because i had high hopes for that :(

Loved the original Bvlgari Black on men especially, though some women wore it also. Then it was reformulated with a different sandalwood that took over the fragrance and changed it completely IMO.
Yep it was different but still close enough and lighter! :)
I found the reformulation completely unwearable, personally. I really dislike Australian sandalwood.
