Adam Wharton would help support Rice and supply the attacking midfielders but Southgate is too clueless to see it. He has taken a very talented generation of England players that are on good form for their clubs and managed to play them out of position and make them look terrible. He is the weak link and has to go.

Is it too simple to see that TAA needs to go. Bellingham in the 8 and Foden in the 10 with the likes of Gordon out left? Surely that provides us with both width and ball progression in the middle of the park. Rice can control the game but just needs the right system and players next to him.

Take Trippier out of the defence, since Guehi is doing most of the defending on the left side anyway, and Gordon is use to playing with a CB on the left.
Put TAA into RB and move Stones/Walker across.
Most importantly, push up the pitch and play in the opposition half.

We don't press teams, we don't run at teams, our shape is all over the place. Very good players look terrible. What is our game plan against teams? Why do we sit so deep inviting teams onto us? Kane's legs are gone, he has the urgency of a slug 1 touch in the opposition box, but his most telling contribution was in his familiar left back role where he passed straight to Denmark & they scored. Why the fuck does he think he can play on midfield or defence? All he does is get in positions he's not needed in. Taking up space where we need players making space. Has he made any sprints yet? Has he made opposition defenders work hard? This is our captain a player who can do know wrong for our manager. Why did our manager take Foden off & leave Bellingham on? Why did he take Trent off & leave Rice on? Why hasn't Palmer had a sniff? Why isn't Grealish there? Why can't our manager change our team when we come under pressure. We've got over 20 outfield players, who I'd say we're pretty decent players.
Why does a players reputation mean more than the way he is playing for our manager? I can't believe anyone could ever believe we'd do anything with this manager after it was his fault we lost a WC semi final & the Euro's final. A talented bunch of players totally destroyed by a boring negative manager with no vision whatsoever. Who is shit scared of upsetting the big name players. I miss this version of Saka. Reminds me of Euro 20 Saka, explosive, sprinting down the wing but he's improved massively since then, now they can't get the ball off him. Hope Arteta allows Saka to play like this more, allow him complete freedom on the right hand side.
Bellingham was 10x better in the 2nd half and created that lovely chance for Watkins.

We needed to sub TTA for Gordon. Drop Bellingham into TTA holding Midfielder position. Foden into N.10 position and Gordon LW. Problem solved

Bring on subs earlier for starters. Wharton has had no game time, nor Palmer. I live in NZ ex pat. I got up at 3.45am to watch that shite! We all know after losing to Iceland at home the signs were there. SG completely out of his depth, can't even put a team together, then talks about kelvin Philips, absolute laughing stock that's his excuse. Why not say, I am clueless. Trent can't be in that midfield... he just can't defend well enough. Either play him left back or make him a sub. Mainoo or Wharton need to be behind Rice and Bellingham. And the whole team besides Guehi need to get their heads out.
Kane was poor again. Watkins looked more dangerous for his 20 minutes than Kane has looked in two matches. Foden was a little better than against Serbia but he's out of position. Rice and Bellingham both had shockers. I thought Guehi was the best England player by far.

For those talking about Foden in the 10, NO. Bellingham does play as an 8 but he pushes into the 10 role giving him complete freedom, Foden will just get in his way. It's got to be a choice between the two. Foden doesn't have any defensive workrate, he hasn't actually had a good game for England in midfield either. You keep Bellingham and Rice in the same position but you replace Trent with Mainoo/Wharton and play Gordon left wing. For others who say "why did Mount play ahead of Bellingham?" Because Mount had defensive workrate on top of his on the ball qualities.

As Southgate is bad, I think pundits, media, FA, most popular fan channels should take a blame on how England is performing. They all want England want play like Pep, because half starting 11 players are playing attacking controled football. Media, fan channels, puundits, FA put so much presure on all England managers to make that Frankenshtein squad and then call out manager. Just play with wingers, transitional counterattacking football, defend well. Look at France. If they need they overlap with LB, play quick counterattacking fast football with pacy natural wingers, long balls, defend deep if needed.

It would've been foolish to expect him to play like that while he still had pace.
