I am intrigued by the building at the beginning of Scene 03 with large circular openings. It looks like an old ruin. Living in subtropical Australia we never get snow. I have always been a walker but sadly can't walk a lot these days. I am OK when it's flat but I live in hill country and so I don't get those long walks I used to enjoy. I would love to take a nice walk in the snow, but in the U.S., they put salt on the streets, which melts the snow and turn it into water, which freezes into ice and you have to constantly worry about falling and breaking your bones. My coworker fell and broke her wrist and my 80-year-old neighbor fell and broke her ankle. Just let the snow be!

Hey Christine, in the larger towns you will find shops that are open all night, in the smaller towns there may be a 24 hour shop, but that is not everywhere. There is no such thing as 'too much snow' in Finland 😝
Peaceful now but what will happen in few months from now? Finland, a country sharing a border with Russia, would be invaded by Russians earlier than Sweden, but Swedish government officials are telling Swedish citizens to prepare now as much as they can by getting extra food & supplies.
I guess you were referring to news of sweden informing their citizens about preparing for war? it seemed to get a lot of attention which was the intention but it was for their citizens not so much rest of the world. you see they had a problem, sweden hasn't been in a war in over 200 years, they haven't had conscription until very recently, they have a decent military and defence industry but the average citizen might still generally act like none of what's going on concerns them and their leaders decided they need to change the public rhetoric and shake them up. in finland it's a bit different, there's conscription and every man at least knows the reality, shadow of mordor was never that far, most have had relatives who fought the orcs.
How do you withstand those abnormally low temperatures of -40c there? Are your water pipes freezing, how do people in Finland even manage to go to work and live? I guess you're all depressed when you're indoors all day with temperatures this low? All of Europe was speechless when we heard how low the temperatures are in your place.
Hey Milan, good to see you. Fortunately, in the north of Finland it was -40 degrees Celsius, in the south only -26 degrees with a wind chill of -35 degrees. There were problems with freezing and electricity in some areas, but nothing dramatic, even in this cold life goes on. Depressed is a strong word to describe it, but the cold and long darkness can seriously affect your mental health. That's why it's so important to stay active, even in extreme temperatures. I am always amazed at how quiet and peaceful these areas you walk through are. I always compare it to the UK where I am sadly, and where at any time after dark there is still so much traffic, so many people, so much noise, so many drunks in the streets. I love Norway and have been twice now, but saw the beautiful snowy wonderland of Finland when we crossed the border to go snowmobiling and your videos tell me, next time I can afford to travel, Finland in Winter is where I should go. ❤❤
Hey Carole, i hope you're doing well. That's right, i try to film night walks at the right time and i pray that i don't meet anyone on the street (in scene 04 a postman drove by a few times in an area where i wanted to be alone, but it can also be seen as a background action). I know exactly how you feel about too many people at all times of the day. That's one of the things i like about Finland, the country is very big and almost empty, but in summer it does get busier in the cities, as if people move here to spend the summer. Finland is at its most beautiful in winter, specifically the Lapland region, a place that unfortunately i have not yet visited myself. If you are here in summer, you will find the mosquitoes most annoying, which in Finland usually roam from June to September.

Hey Sevy, hello friend.....listen.....i always look forward to another scene walk when you post...i get very excited and actually smile, say to myself ( oh, wow... my brother Sevy has a new post up0...run right to it usually....I have almost all of them saved. I want to say, they are so immersive, and theraputic for me. I live in New York city, and it can really be quite overwhelming sometime. I love it, but too many pple around you at all times...so my escape....my way to be alone...is to pull up 1 of my Sevy walks...and go away for a cple hours. I look forward to them my brother...i m sure you do more good for pple than you might realize brother. Thanks once again.

Hey Christine, in the larger towns you will find shops that are open all night, in the smaller towns there may be a 24 hour shop, but that is not everywhere.
There is no such thing as 'too much snow' in Finland 😝

Yes, these are electrical boxes that supply power to the car's heating system in winter.
There are many at parking spaces (it's a paid feature).

Finland, a country sharing a border with Russia, would be invaded by Russians earlier than Sweden, but Swedish government officials are telling Swedish citizens to prepare now as much as they can by getting extra food & supplies.
I understand your concerns. The common people like to play games on a computer, and others think that it is better to play with the lives of others.
I guess you were referring to news of sweden informing their citizens about preparing for war? it seemed to get a lot of attention which was the intention but it was for their citizens not so much rest of the world. you see they had a problem, sweden hasn't been in a war in over 200 years, they haven't had conscription until very recently, they have a decent military and defence industry but the average citizen might still generally act like none of what's going on concerns them and their leaders decided they need to change the public rhetoric and shake them up.
in finland it's a bit different, there's conscription and every man at least knows the reality, shadow of mordor was never that far, most have had relatives who fought the orcs.

How do you withstand those abnormally low temperatures of -40c there? Are your water pipes freezing, how do people in Finland even manage to go to work and live? I guess you're all depressed when you're indoors all day with temperatures this low? All of Europe was speechless when we heard how low the temperatures are in your place.

Fortunately, in the north of Finland it was -40 degrees Celsius, in the south only -26 degrees with a wind chill of -35 degrees.
There were problems with freezing and electricity in some areas, but nothing dramatic, even in this cold life goes on.
Depressed is a strong word to describe it, but the cold and long darkness can seriously affect your mental health. That's why it's so important to stay active, even in extreme temperatures.

I'm fascinated by the silence while you walk there, there are no people or barking dogs, even though it's probably late at night, you're filming. I filmed this almost 1 month before the Christmas walk because the river was not yet frozen.
I try to take a break from filming in the same locations too often, but since free time can be scarce, i may end up in a nearby city more often than i'd like.

I am always amazed at how quiet and peaceful these areas you walk through are. I always compare it to the UK where I am sadly, and where at any time after dark there is still so much traffic, so many people, so much noise, so many drunks in the streets. I love Norway and have been twice now, but saw the beautiful snowy wonderland of Finland when we crossed the border to go snowmobiling and your videos tell me, next time I can afford to travel, Finland in Winter is where I should go. ❤❤
Hey Carole, i hope you're doing well. That's right, i try to film night walks at the right time and i pray that i don't meet anyone on the street (in scene 04 a postman drove by a few times in an area where i wanted to be alone, but it can also be seen as a background action).
I know exactly how you feel about too many people at all times of the day.
That's one of the things i like about Finland, the country is very big and almost empty, but in summer it does get busier in the cities, as if people move here to spend the summer.
Finland is at its most beautiful in winter, specifically the Lapland region, a place that unfortunately i have not yet visited myself. If you are here in summer, you will find the mosquitoes most annoying, which in Finland usually roam from June to September.
