I realize this vid is older, but I just thought I’d say “thanks.” I recently bought the OneUp v2 post as a replacement, and getting everything figured out and working properly was made possible by watching your content. Again, thank you, and keep up the great content. 👍 (I really enjoy your videos.)
This is an incredibly comprehensive and well delivered video. EVERY little detail is mentioned and spoken in a very coherent and easy to understand way. dont think that my comment is hyperbole , because my usual style of commenting is critical , negative and downright rude . This is a super good video!
After dealing with constant pressure loss and maintenance on my Specialized dropper for years, I finally broke down and picked up the latest OneUp dropper. Hands down a fantastic value and flawlessly-operating dropper. That super low stack height allowed me to get more drop out of the setup too which was a nice bonus. Best $200 bucks I've spent in a while!
best part is how easy it is to keep it lubed. don't have to release air. just screw up the top cap, simple wipe clean, apply some grease, screw down, done. are there better posts out there? probably, but the cost to performance ratio and ease of care is the bomb.
Had the 120mm for 6 months on XC setup. Recently sold it and installed the 150mm. Definitely the longer travel works better for me plus I can hide more of the seat post in the seat tube.
Excellent video, I knew I would need to lower the dropper travel for me to get the fit I wanted, I've never worked on nor installed a dropper before. I followed your introductions exactly. BOOM! no problems at all. Just be careful wiggling the white shim thing back down before using the drop action of the post to seat it...so not to misalign the little spacers. Thank you very much!
I actually bought the 2.1 version just a month ago, but since I have a new slx groupset and after watching your video on it, I went with the shimano remote. I couldn't really test it alot, but it appears to be a really solid bit of kit.
Have you reviewed fox transfer kashima dropper post? I have been using SRAM AXS dropper post and I had a one up. I think the SRAM AXS dropper is just fantastic. I don’t mind the weight penalty due to the performance 😅
Good and instructional vid as always. I’m thinking of upgrading my dropper from a 125mm Bontrager Drop Line on my 2017 Trek Fuel. This is my 3rd season on it after replacing the $80 cartridge and I have a feeling that after 80 hours in the saddle it may be worth the upgrade before it fails. Also, I have room in the frame to go with 150mm for more clearance and it’s a toss-up between One Up V2 and the PNW Loam.
Great man. I was thinking about getting one of these. I have a cheapy non servicable. 1 complaint is the rattle. I cant stand it. Sounds like something about to fall off. The tube rotates back and forth.
I find my OneUp is much more harder to activate vs my Fox Transfer...Still trying to figure out if the actuator is the problem or if it's coming from the housing being curved a lot because of the shape of the frame
Thanks for the review. Can you also increase the travel with the small keys? Like removing the longer keys already installed, and putting in the small ones?
@@LoveMTB I actually tried it right after watching your video. I replaced the big key with 2 of the small ones, so it went from 120mm to 130mm. The problem now is that a small part part of the keyway got exposed out of the collar, and it will capture more dirt into the post. Not good.
This may be a bit old but I just bough one and installed it but the little black piece inside the bottom of the dropper that goes on the cable to actuate the dropper keeps popping out on me. Have you had this problem too?
Just installed a V2 today but it won't go up or down. I uninstalled it and re-installed everything very carefully but still no go. It's gritty sounding and just will not raise. I added air and a bit of grease and still nothing. Is it maybe faulty? I didn't over tighten my seatpost clamp either.
My new canyon dude fat bike comes with a 150mm dropper that is a 10mm too high. It sucks that I might have to spend $200 for a new dropper to fix this. The Iridium dropper that comes with it has no adjustment.
Great reviews ! I've been searching for days and days for a maintenance for a Fox Transfer Dropper Post, but nothing more than "How to Install it" I hear you mentioning the fox, Could be possible for you do one video about it , I understand is because of the internals contains nitrogen, but I also see it's easy to buy the rebuilt kit for the internals. How is it come!?
You need more subscriptions Mate... Always clear and simple, can I ask what's the longest insertion of the 150mm travel? With and without the actuator please.
@@LoveMTB Thanks Mate, I'm leaning towards this over Fox transfer. There's a massive difference with price and I think One Up is very much serviceable.
Thank you for sharing this! Did you have any issues with the barrel getting stuck sideway during any of your rides? I had this happen a few times today which would cause my seat post to come up on its own
Because of my fork remote I can't mount the OneUp remote or any other remote like that. Can you recommand a dropper remote similar to the Fox Transfer that works well with the OneUp Dropper?
Hey man! Great video. I can easily follow and understand what you explain. One question: lately I wanted to adjust my seatpost and lowered it about 5mm. The seatpost would then no longer remain in the lowest position. I couldn't finetune around it on the remote lever... Could you help me out there...? Cheers Malte from Germany
Awesome review! I’ve been searching for a dropper post but having no luck due to my seat post geometry length. Seat post top to bottom stop is about 140mm. Wondering if the V2.1 will work? I have a 2021 Giant Stance Small
@@LoveMTB if it ingests some air, that'll be very nice, if user like me is able to just open this thing up and bleed it asap. 60$ is nice price, nearly same as service kit for things like reverb, but requires far less labor when installing, buuuut shipping can take kinda long. So i'll definitely try to fix the thing if it shows any problems.
@@LoveMTB You explain in good detail how it works differently and get that it pulls instead of making the cable housing push. So far so good. I have had both 1 and 2.0 (but not 2.1) and still don't really get what the actual benefits are with 2.1. You just say what the differences are, but I can't see why those differences makes one majorly advantageous over the other. Sorry if I am being a bit dense, I don't mean to be that guy :)
Thanks for the explanation. My 210mm v2 dropper will arrive today and I can't help being a bit curious about what actuater will be on it. Based on what you say, I hope it's the 2.1 although I never had issues with 1/2.0 in the past.
LoveMTB post will start falling on its own under my weight, and then go back up on its own when i take my weight off. Topped it off with air, greased the bushing, tried it without the cable even being attached and the same thing happens. I went ahead and bought a fox transfer last night, I’ll probably sell the replacement that OneUp sends me.
Hey man great review!!! Also I hope you can help me out on this before I buy it. I got 2017 giant anthem same color as your (I call her cherry lol) and I got this dropper post giant contact sl and I cant really find any on the cartridges around.. if I buy this dropper can I use all my cable/remote? Let me know please and thanks.
I wish they were available in 27.2mm diameter. If they were, I would have bought one of those. Since my Frame only allows for 27.2mm posts I had to buy a KS LEV Integra (it really was the only option currently available with that diameter and 120mm of travel) Also, why do you recommend a bit of play in the remote lever?
@@LoveMTB yes, probably. On my search I have found not a single 27.2mm dropper with more than 125mm of travel. I guess it wouldn't be able to resist the sideways forces or the market for those isn't there yet.
@@user-pp5or5og4k I only found the brandX one really expensive (about 300€) Crankbrothers had anounced a very good 125mm dropper (the Highline 3) but it never released in 27.2. I had ordered one but after three months I had to cancel that order.
I purchased this seatpost last week, twice now I have tried fitting it (new cable and housing both times) neither time did the cable / lever activate the dropper. I push the post down by hand and it slides back up by itself without me pressing the lever to pop it back up. From what I can gather the issue is either too little or too much cable tension, but adjusting the barrel adjuster does not help. Any tips?
@@LoveMTB for sure it is definitely too much cable tension, I agree 100%. However the tension build up is coming from the routing of the outer hosing. It runs down the downtube, under the shock then a tight turn up inside the seatpost tube. I feel the tight turn under the shock and up in to the seatpost tube is the issue, but it worked previously with a different brand seatpost so clearly it is workable, just very frustrating.
@@LoveMTB I solved it by replacing the cable and adding more oil to the cable. The cable that was in place worked for another model 150mm dropper. But the 210mm OneUp seems to require a smooth well oiled cable.
