I'm strangely happy for you that the Käsespätzle were as good, if not better, as you'd hoped. There's a very unique, almost painful, sense of disappointment when a meal you remember as amazing doesn't live up to your expectations.

7:45 Its not limited to bavarian, in Austria they do this as well, normally on the first of May. There is even more tradition going on before, because each village try to steal the tree from each other, so you have to guard it the night(week) before, but not in a bad sense but the village that lost the tree has to pay in beer.

What you should definitely see is the Oberallgäu. The area around the alpine village "Oberstdorf", embedded in the Allgäu Alps. Right next door is the "Kleine Walsertal" which already belongs to Austria but can only be reached via Germany. Also great in summer the "Allgäuer Seenland" offers great bathing lakes. And finally, not far from the Allgäu, is the largest German lake, Lake Constance. Everything is super touristically developed and also offers a lot of fun for children.

The Zugspitze is probably more fun with some snow. I'm sure you and Willa would also enjoy Bertchesgaden with a visit to the salt mine. Near there in Austria is also an ice cave (Eisriesenwelt) that is pretty "cool"🤪. Die you mention the name and location of the restaurant you visited with the great Käsespätzle? I didn't catch it.

Actually "Maibaumstellen" is not only a bavarian tradition. You have seen the Eifel region already. Putting up a Maibaum is a big deal there as well. In many villages the job has to be done by the local "bachelor club" with the help of firefighters. After the Maibaum is up, it must be guarded and defended against the bachelor club from the neighbor village. All this comes with gallons of beer and bbq. Here in Rheinland boys/men put up a small decorated Maibaum (tall birch branch with ribbons) in font of their girl's home/window the night before first of May. Nice traditions...

Was the inside of Neuschwanstein not worth mentioning? I find it very impressive. Maybe taking pictures or filming are forbidden there? Or did you visit the place for a second time - again without visiting the castle interiors? That's almost unbelievable!
The South of Bavaria is really a wonderful region! So beautiful, but also full of tourists.
Btw, you often upload videos which have been made several weeks earlier. It would be really nice and often helpful if you mentioned the date, at least the month of the journeys you are showing.
You went to Neuschwanstein during bad weather, but the weather in May has been really great so far. I hoped you enjoyed the "Wonnemonat Mai" with the almost exploding Vegetation! Tree blossoms, meadow flowers and all these wonderful azaleas and rhododendrons. And the yellow rapeseed fields and broom bushes! So beautiful!

I’m really surprised to hear you say you hear a lot of Americans in Garmisch. I’m planning a trip there next month, and am finding that tourism office publications and newsletters are in German only, as is GaPa Instagram. I’ve been reaching back decades trying to retrieve my college German, but it’s still hard. Hello Willas family, what wonderful places, Garmisch and Mittenwald. A very good recommendation! One can really see your joy. If you want to get to know all the beautiful places in 🇩🇪, you have to stay here for a very long time. 😊 Preferably forever. 😁😁 😇
Another suggestion for You: If you are ever again in the „Ruhr area“. Visit Oberhausen (30 km from Bochum). Visit the landmark of the city. The "Gasometer" (117 m high) - with an exhibition and a wonderful view if you make it to the top. 😁 Right next door (1.2 km away) the "Centro Promenade" with water canal and lots of fish. There you can sit outside nicely in summer, eat something or go for a walk. With 47 restaurants (indoors and outdoors along the promenade), bars, ice cream cafes, bakeries and so on. For example: Lousiana (USA), Don Carlos (Spain); Haiky (Asia), Tijuana (Mexico), Franciscan (Alpland), etc.! There is also the underwater world "Sea Life" with rays, turtles, starfish, etc. (for children and parents). And the "Legoland" next door (for children and parents). The swimming paradise "Aquapark" (indoor/outdoor) with swimming and slides. The 🏰 "Schloss Oberhausen", in the middle of the city, with the "Kaisergarten". A picturesque park with petting zoo for children! 🙋🏼♂️ BTW...do you visit the "Münchener-Oktober-Fest" this year❓

Hi there, I am sure pricess Willa felt home when you visited new swanstein again. Yes, touring through the alpine area in this part of Germany is very nice. Btw, didnt catch the name of the recommended Restaurant. Please let us know ! As there are so many hiking trails around I am sure once you come back on a sunny day to get up to the highest mountain in Germany. Good to see you also stopped in Oberammergau which is also known for the birthplace of the art painting on houses. Its called Lüftlmalerei(catchword for Wiki to get more info about or even for mama google to see more pics). Seems you have been to Mittenwald on 1st of may, are you. Well, its not only a tradition in Bavaria to raise a pole called Maibaum. Every smaller town, village did the same and the pole is guarded for a while cause there is another tradition, mostly in smaller village. The neighbour village tries to steel the pole and hiding it for while and the owner village have to pay sort of ransom money, mostly in terms of litres of beer to support a party. Btw, once you are in this area again and come along Berchtesgaden, dont miss a visit to the underground salt mine. Yes, touristy but worth to see once and you in miners cloth. Nice to see Willa being exhausted from the gorge hike with all the cold and fresh air.

My primary school was in a castle, our youth group was in a castle for 3 weeks for holidays and not to count all that administration buildings that are in castles. Today, the castle in out small village houses the big band rehearsals, the community center and many festivities throughout the year.

Say "ob er aber über Oberammergau oder aber über Unterammergau oder aber überhaupt nicht kommt, ist nicht gewiss" 😉 (Part of a Folksong. First Part "Heut kommt der Hans zu mir...", but that's boring to say.)

And: make your Quarkbällchen at home. No big deal. They have to be fresh to taste perfect. Often you get "older" ones, which mean 30 min after cooking.

High politics like it here, too.
The heads of state and government of the G7 countries will meet under the leadership of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) from June 26 to 28, 2022, at the G7 Summit at Schloss Elmau between Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Mittenwald. The previous G7 summit under the German presidency had also taken place at the luxury Schloss Elmau hotel in 2015.
Barack Obama drank a "Karg Weissbier", also a Bavarian specialty, with Angela Merkel in Krün.

As a German, I can confirm that this part of the country is alright. But I still dislike many corners. Overall, Germany is a 50/50 when you don't know the real gems.

After being in Germany for a year, it would be nice if you could learn more German. Best way, is just not to speak English!
