Wow, that is awesome looking K-3 footage! Of course you noticed the small emulsion scratches on the extended Super-16 gate side (right hand side). Need to take mine out and polish these as well, should be no big deal. Anyway, thanks for sharing!

@@chunkygroove9038 I have the software. But I’ve been using Premiere for years and it’s similar to the PP but I think both can the the job. When you said it will look even better in Davinci I thought you mean that it’s superior to the PP. I know that you have more grading options in Davinci. But I don’t really need to grade my stuff at the moment.
@@girmonsproductions Yes, fair enough. Premiere's grading options are OK but Resolve's are better. At the end of the day, you should go with whatever you are most comfortable with. The reason I mentioned it is I've been shooting a lot of super 8 neg recently & the tools in Resolve have really helped bring out the best in the neg. Alot of people shoot film & watch the ungraded rushes & think "THAT"S IT!". But the amount of information contained in a film neg is massive & post production tools can really help bring out that information. If you are thinking of submitting your work to festivals or major competitions, you will need to grade your work. You know how to shoot, so don't compromise the look.
@@chunkygroove9038 Yeah for now PP is working great for me. The reason why I don't grade as much is that I have the Fujifilm X-H1 which only shoots 8bit. It has F log but what I found was that doing a light grade in the Eterna profile is just better than shooting these massive files from Flog. And they say that grading 8bit log is just not that strong. 10 bit seems to be better for pro grading. I mean I am trying to learn how to grade as it is very usefull to know. I shoot stills in 35mm and 120 and I can relate to your grading of S8 film. I would simply lose my potentional if I would not. I'm going to get some 200T for my super 8 and then I should get the best out of it and make a nice video. I just have to come up with an idea what to shoot as it's mega expensive you know :~))
such a nice footage from the K3! I have got one myself but did not put it to test yet. just loaded a dummy roll and everything seems to work fine. would you have any essential tips when shooting with K3 from your experience? thank you!
I have one as well, going to use it to film a full length film, its going to be a lot of work 55 minutes in length setting up and shooting everything but will be worth it to say ive actually filmed a full length film on film and not digital.

@@ClaudioVirginio i will post it but it will be next year as Covid is currently stopping me from accessing shooting locations. Im doing the entire film on a small budget, with gear I already have, Just need to find people for it and find locations that i can access. But provided the vaccines get out to the general public early then I will get shooting. I will need to buy 2000 feet of film for the entire project lol. Which is 20 100 foot cartridges. Which means exactly 55 minutes of filming.
Shots came out great, was wondering how your focus worked being on the fly? I've currently got my first roll in my K3 and I'm anxious to see how all of my skate stuff is going to look.. were you able to trust the viewfinder as far as focus?
By the centering rig, I'm assuming you are referring to the lens mount. Yes, I did have to change the lens mount to one which shifted the lens so the optical center was optimized for Super 16mm.
Another thing is that the Gate on this K3 was not properly expanded and I had to file down the gate until it stopped scratching the film terribly. I couldn't fix it completely but it's more or less not a blaring issue. Another thing I did was disassemble the Meteor lens and clean every element I could gain access to. Those lenses tend to have fungus or some kind of dirt. Also, this was a 5K scan supersampled to 2K so the noise of the actual telecine is minimal and the grain of the film is what is retained.
@@colbyblackwill2107 thanks for the info. Regarding the lens tear down. Was it just a case of putting it all back together again and away you go? Or did you need to get someone to do lens collimating on it?
@@newwinterstudios8910 It was many nights trying to not break the thing while learning how it was built. It's fairly simple but nerve racking nonetheless. If you reassemble the glass elements as you found them, you should be good to go. I did not have it recollimated.

BEAUTIFUL !!
Very very nice looking footage and good vibes 🙌🏻I like it a lot 🤜🏻🤛🏻Best Greetz from Germany 😉
Amazing Footage!
This is beautiful, well done sir
Absolutely beautiful. Just as the people :)
That was really nice. Love the 250D stock. If you put it through Davinci Resolve it will look even better. Top work.
why will it look better?

the viewfinder can be a little shotty with focus but is a good guide. can be hard when wide open.
Pretty great! Do you know which film scanner you used?
he uses a Lasergraphics Scanstation - www.nicholascoyle.com/scan
Hi! When changing the gate, did you also have to change the centering rig?
By the centering rig, I'm assuming you are referring to the lens mount. Yes, I did have to change the lens mount to one which shifted the lens so the optical center was optimized for Super 16mm.
I’m impressed to not see any noticeable vignetting with the super 16 conversion. Did you crop in or was it fine?
Once you get past about 25mm the vignette goes away completely. I did an overscan and can confirm.
Did you get reed of the loops inside of the camera?
yes
Which scan version did you have done by Nicholas Coyle?
I did the overscan at 5k.

Nice video. Looks like you’ve got a really good K3. Did you do any colour grading yourself or is that straight back from telecine?
I did some slight color grading but most of it is the time of day, the exposure, and the film stock.

Is the camera Super16 or Ultra16?
super 16
