    We will take a closer look at the effects of ionosphere. There is a delay of the signal as it travels through the ionosphere. The signal is part of a carrier wave and the frequency of the signal is different than the signal of the carrier wave. As the wave travels through the ionosphere, those 2 portions of the signal will have a different index of refraction, therefore a different velocity as they travel through the ionosphere.
