In this video I am making a table top for a wine barrel
I start by cutting, planning, and gluing up an Oak top, to match the wood of the barrel. Next I trace the 30” diameter glass top onto the oak, and cut out the circle. I want the logo on the top of the wine barrel to be visible, so I drew another circle, 7” inside of the first and cut that out to make a ring. Then I hammered a 1”x1/8” mild steel flat bar into a ring to fit around the 3/4” top, with a 1/4” lip above to hold the glass. I secured the ring with a rivet, and attached it to the wooden top with nails, which were then hammered to resemble rivets as well. Before I attached the top to the barrel, using brackets cut and modified from 1 1/2” angle iron, I attached a set of color changing LED lights to the underside of the top, to add a bit of fun to the finished top.
Im really happy with the way this turned out, and I know that it will be well loved in its new home

heartfelt thank you Dustin. I've been watching you for 5 years and this channel is still easily my favorite. My skills have grown with yours to some extent, as it's not about the tool as it is craftsmanship. One humble suggestion though. Grow an outrageous afro and rename the channel "The Joy of Woodworking". You are my version of Bob Ross and watching you is theraputic as well as inspiring!

outstanding, this piece is gorgeous, we have a beautiful barrel from Napa and we've been trying to figure out how to make a pub table. This is perfect! Wish you lived in South Florida so we could hire you to make us a top like that.

That turned out great. I always worry with LEDs that they'll look tacky, but those work well with the final product.

G'day mate.! It has been some time that we saw you doing your magic. It's also inspiring to watch you do your passion, making something simple and yet functional (for my bar..ha!). It must have been real hot for you to have the fan in the doorway of the workshop. It's winter here noe but we don't get snow over here. Great backyard you've got there. Glad to see the outdoor anvil shop is still at use. So when is the next "live" segment? Atleast you didn't have to take the roof off to get the barrel out eh.!? Seriously mate, talk about endurance & perseverance and patient, you've got it all. Thank you heaps for sharing your adventure. Stay safe & god bless to you and you family. Warm regards from Christmas Island. Cowabunga.!!

Battery. Devon took it to his in-laws house, and his mother in law said “wait, I have something for it”. She proceeded to take out a string of lights, but Devon stopped her, and showed her what we had already done. It was a perfect moment. 😁

Hey. Wonder if you could help with a question; I got this old axe from a guy and I can tell that it comes from, at least, turn of the century. The head, however, has a slight bend in it. Is it salvageable do you think? I’d love to send a pic but I’m not sure how haha thanks
