LOVED the technique and tutorial, AWESOME, thank you so much for sharing. I will definitely following your instruction for my own wand build. All the bedt
Also, I know for sure you can order LED lights online. Just look up LED diode, and I am pretty sure that'll bring up pretty good results. Just get the LED that looks like the one in the video--a 5mm LED bulb with two wires coming out of the bottom. I know Amazon has some options. P.S. I am sorry I took so long to respond to your questions; I was taking a short break from social media and UA-cam.
Amazing video! I’m planning on making this but is there any specific wires I will Need to use? Like will I be able to use my old iPhone charger cord? Also.. Where can I get the thin wire?
Thank you for watching! When I made mine, I used 18 gauge aluminum wire for the thick wire (wire gauge tells you how thick it is, with smaller gauges being thicker wire). You can get that at most craft stores like Michael's or Hobby Lobby, at home improvement stores like Home Depot, or online. The thin wire is actually what I got from my old phone charger. If you have one that doesn't work, you could probably get yours from there too. Just cut apart the outer cover, and there should be a few smaller wires on the inside. I believe the wires in chargers are 28 gauge wires, so you could also look into buying some 28 gauge wire separately. I hope this helps. Good luck making your wand!
For the switch, you want to get some bendable wire. I used 18 gauge aluminum wire. Start by looping the wire around the wand where your thumb would naturally rest. Then bend it down to the end of the wand, make a hook, and attach it to the end of the straw. Then take another piece of wire and hook it to the end of the straw opposite the first wire. These hooked ends will be where you attach the rest of the wiring, and when you touch the short wire to the loop on the long wire, the wand should light up. I also used some paper to cover the bottom wiring of the switch in order to hide it and hold it in place better. I hope this helps!
This is actually a funny story. The wand I made was _technically_ Dumbledore's original wand based on information I had at the time. The promotional images/footage that were released when they announced the title of the film included Dumbledore holding a wand that looks like this one. (twitter.com/FantasticBeasts/status/930797574163873792 & twitter.com/FantasticBeasts/status/931159964495708160 & www.wizardingworld.com/news/fantastic-beasts-film-title-revealed-the-crimes-of-grindelwald ) Apparently, they filmed most of the movie using this wand but then later JK Rowling saw it and said it looked too much like the Elder Wand, so they finished filming with the swirly wand and edited the already-filmed scenes in post production. (www.fantasticbeastsmovies.com/2018/10/18/exclusive-the-mystery-of-dumbledores-two-wands-answered/ ) Although, there are some fan theories out there saying that isn't the real story, just a cover story. And that this is actually Dumbledore's _original_ wand, like the one he had as a teenager. Because if you take a close look at the scene where Dumbledore see's his younger self making the blood pact with Grindelwald in the Mirror of Erised, he doesn't have the swirly wand. It looks like this "original" one. (ua-cam.com/video/BFUtM6XUq58/v-deo.html ) So the question is whether they intentionally had teenage Dumbledore use a different wand or if they just didn't fix it in post production? Either way, yes this isn't the wand Dumbledore used in the film, but it was going to be at the time I made this video.
From what I know about LEDs, using a stronger battery should work... be careful not to use too strong of a battery, tho.. the more electricity that's flowing through it, the brighter it is... the inside of an LED is tiny little wires, so if you have too much electricity flowing through it, those wires will explode
If you're making one that isn't electric, I'd highly recommend using a wooden dowel and then adding a ton of hot glue onto it to thicken it.. I'd also recommend balancing it toward the handle. It's easier to wave around if it's balanced properly and also wooden dowels are sturdier than straws and yet more flexible than a chopstick.... I made my first wand from a chopstick and then accidentally sat on it and it broke way too easily.... that wasn't a fun lesson to learn

Awesome! I hope it goes well for you
How did it go?
What do you think of my light-up wand? Are there any questions you have about making it yourself?
LOVED the technique and tutorial, AWESOME, thank you so much for sharing.

How innovative! Thank you for the detailed explanation.
That's actually really good 👍
Thanks!
This is so cool! I just don't know where to get all this stuff...
It was a good video. We used it for inspiration for a wand project. It came out well. Thank you very much.
Super cool great job!
LUMOS MAXIMA!
how did you connect the wires for a switch? Im confuse... I want to make one for my daughter.
Still useful! Thank you so much
Glad it helped!
Also.. Where do you think I can get a led light?

Can you use other tape?
Thanks so much ❤️😘
You're welcome!
you're so cute 😍
Is there a way to make the light brighter dear?

So cool! I'll try that (with my boyfriend's help haha). Can I ask where you are from? I can't place the accent :)
I am from Utah, although what you might be hearing as an accent is actually a remnant of a speech impediment I had when I was younger :)
Great
