Not a drop of irish blood in me but Irish songs hold such attraction for me. In fact everything about Ireland. Beautiful place, music, people culture and tradition. Erin go bragh.
Beautiful and oh such a special song for me!! How my parents, aunts and uncles all loved this singer!!! Miss you Guys...glad you're all together again!!
You post the most beautifull songs. I am 85 years old, and nothing is more beautful than listening to two or three of the songs you have posted. It truly soothes the soul. Thank you very much. I am sure that their is something special about you.
Funny how everyone believes this is an Irish song. It isn't. It was written by an American born of German parents. LOL But give it to an Irish tenor - any Irish tenor - and they'll bring a tear to your eye with it. Love this version almost as much as Ken Curtis and the Sons of the Pioneers in John Ford's 1950 Rio Grande. The lads were singing to the beautiful Irish lass, Maureen O'Hara playing the role of John Wayne's wife.
You're the first person to ask me that question. It's not easy to answer, but I think I would say that Richard Crooks is my favorite, followed by Jan Peerce and John McCormack. The others I've posted are all terrific too though.
Great Irish singer but not an Irish song. Written by a German American, Thomas Westendorf for his wife in 1875. Wikipedia says it’s loosely based on Mendelssohn’s Violin Concert second movement but I think even with the qualification ‘loosely’ that is really stretching a point
What a voice/R.I.P. Frank.
My mum and her sister Kathleen used to sing this song whilst setting the table for dinner. Beautiful.
A VERY NICE SONG AND NICELY SUNG --J-C
Beautiful song! First time I have heard it sung by this artist ! Lovely!

Wow. He makes this sound effortless. What a true tenor. Bravo!
David Houston also recorded a fabulous version, but abridged, unfortunately.
