When I was 17 The Joshua Tree was released and I played it every night. This is the song I loved the most, and will always remind me of the only girl I've ever loved. "I'll see you again when the stars fall from the sky, and the moon has turned red over One Tree Hill"
I saw the Joshua tree tour in the spring of in San Diego CA what a treat that was...we were having a tail gate party and I met some kids from Mexico. At first I thought no big deal Mexico border is just a few Miles away but as u got to know the 3 they were from Mexico city thousands of miles away and gave themselves 30 days to get there because of corrupt police anyway i had a extra ticket and one of the three needed a ticket so I gave it to them. They were so grateful for thus but my thought was they earned they deserved the ticket. Then by coincidence the four tickets were in the same section so we enjoyed the show together ....great memories..peace Terry
Forget the haters and just enjoy their music U2 still going strong after 40 years. They were rocking way before most of the haters were even born lol...
Haters!show them this and if they still don’t like it then they haven’t got a clue about music ignorant tosses! You don’t have to be big fans of U2 to appreciate how great this this 👌🏻
No band has ever put on a live show to match u2 . I wouldnt say bono is the best live singer but its just the way he sings u2 songs . More emotion and more story telling than any band ever
It's not that often that a band can bring back a decades-old song and play it with just as much passion (if not more) than the original version. U2 are one of few bands that can do that, and this gorgeous performance is proof. I am only 17 years old but The Joshua Tree touches me more than anything from my lifetime.
The greatest album of all time matthew, i still listen to it nearly every day on the way to work in london, so glad young fellas like you are listening to great tunes and legends like U2 instead of the shit whats about today, bands like U2 come along once in a lifetime.
Matthew, in '87, when this album came out, it completely changed my life. I was 16 at the time, and every song hit me in a way that's simply indescribable . Just curious...what do you think of the öld" U2 versus the new U2?
What beautiful bass playing. Sublime. As much as Bono and the Edge get accolades for their songwriting, Adam's bass playing drives so many of their songs with his melodic, soulful bass playing.
I think like most New Zealanders this song always feels like 'ours' and now forever dedicated to not just 1 but 30 of our lost souls, RIP Greg and the Pike River 29
I've been a fan since the mid 80's...I think the first song I heard was either "Bad" or "New Years Day". Regardless, it was "Bad" that cemented the deal for me. I became obsessed with them for a long, long time.
I remember driving to this concert, the flags were at half mast all along the way and when this song played you could feel the energy and the collective emotion in the stadium, it's something I'll never forget
Good? SO FUCKING GOOD, HARD TO DISCRIBE, HOW GOOD. THX U2, AGAIN, FOR THE LAST 40 YEARS . FOR ALL THE JOY AND BEAUTYFULL MUSIC. GRAETEST BAND OF TWO CENTURY'S AVONDS, ALREADY.
When I saw the names of those miners on the screen I got goosebumps... awesome, potent song, definately one of my favourites. The New Zealand people will never forget them
germanylicious Same here, never heard them do it live before. One of my favourite songs from Joshua Tree. I wish Bono wasn't so preachy all the time though. I have my own memories about this song....
im 53 and grew up listening to U2 , i first heard them in 1983 and when i heard the Pride Album i was hooked on them , greetings from Sydney Australia , great memories in the 80's in Sydney going to St Andrews Cathedral School
This is my fave U2 song, very moving.I love the Edges vocals on here. It says alot about the mana of Greg and his impact upon U2. I think it's awsum that they accompanied his body back home and attended the tangi. He was clearly a very special person and I hope his whanau take comfort in the song and legacy he left. Also, my thoughts with loved ones of the miners. Kia kaha, Kia toa, Kia manawanui.
This was one of the most touching moments of that night......Paying respect to the Pike River 29 and Greg Carroll. Singing a song that, with a certain generation of Kiwi's means so much. (showing my age). Thankyou so much to U2 for coming to our little country and playing this special song for us. Cheers!
I was there for one of those two nights, the tribute that U2 gave to our miners that were killed at Pike River Mine left not a dry face in the mosh pit, a great band and will always be in the hearts of New Zealanders. Thanks for sharing this Mekvox, the Mrs and I had a great night that night, lots of memories in this vid for us.
19 days later and this is still one of my favourite UA-cam videos of the moment. When Bono sticks to his day job, he's the best frontman in the world. The Edge is ! And always will be, a Od to me :)) beautiful song, beautiful sentiments, beautiful video
Wow, I was there the night this was recorded, but to hear it again... wow. I have U22 as well, and every time I hear this some I think of the families of the West Coast (and other places) who lost loved ones in the days just before the concert. Thanks Bono, Edge, Larry and Adam. Those left behind, we are always thinking of you.
and for the comment about the quite crowd, I was there and yes the crowd was quite for this song as we all came to terms with the enormity of the loss of 29 lives that had occurred 5 days before this concert. It was one of the most moving tributes I have ever had the privilege of witnessing
Not only is this a brilliant song, this also shows the human class of this great band ; They don't forget there friends who passed too early . I think it's great they still remember Greg in this massive tour . Really a class act !! And of course Excellent audio (you should listen this with a good head set) from Mek, as always .
Wow such a privilege to listen to U2 and this awesome One Tree Hill in memory of Gregg and our West Coast miners U2 are precious we are blessed to have their music to listen to thank you from Aotearoa arohanui :-)
I was at this concert, was a beautiful thing to honor the miners killed in that terrible disaster. a very special song to New Zealanders in more ways than one.
I believe it was written for his personal assistant, Gregg Carroll, who was killed while riding Bono’s motorcycle back to Bono’s home on a rainy evening
That's quite a comment, but I'd be hesitant to disagree with you. The song's placement on the Joshua Tree is perfect also...would it sound quite as sublime if it came after WTSHNN or WOWY? Nope...all of the songs on JT are right where they belong, IMO.
I've seen them at least six times over the years going back to Joshua Tree tour, this song is one of my favorites all time. I never heard them sing it in concert, this is next best thing;-)
they sound fantastic - I was in Chicago July '11 when they played it for the 1st time in North America in fifteen years, they have it much more together on this version, I love the audio, thanks so much for your time and effort... got the chills...
The best song off the best album by the best band. ❤️
100%
This song is a hidden gem that never got any radio play. Joshua Tree is definitely in my top 5 albums and this live version is really exceptional.
I've never known until today that U2 used this track for Chester Bennington's concert tribute.
Truly a heartwarming song. RIP Chester.
When I was 17 The Joshua Tree was released and I played it every night. This is the song I loved the most, and will always remind me of the only girl I've ever loved. "I'll see you again when the stars fall from the sky, and the moon has turned red over One Tree Hill"
You cant leave us hanging like that. Where is she now ? Did you marry someone else. Did she ? Do you still see her around ?
@@antseanbheanbocht4993 we need to know!!
I was 18 in '87...Same here.
wow, i was 16 and did the same thing, non stop my fav song,
Me too. I got this album for my 18th bday back in the 80's
God U2's rhythm section is just superb driving this song-Adam and Larry on top form as usual..
Wow, so interesting!
You posting that on every video dude…

U2's music still makes me cry, which is why I get so sick of the haters and internet trolls-they've meant so much to me growing up.
Fuck the haters what matters is what makes you feel good
Forget the haters and just enjoy their music U2 still going strong after 40 years. They were rocking way before most of the haters were even born lol...

I agree! It's actually because one of The Joshua Tree ' s song, With Or Without You, that I'm a uge U2 fan. I'm only 18.
Really the only somewhat similar to it in rock history is The white album from the Beatles. Maybe dark side of the Moon from pink Floyd.
You have great taste, Matthew. Cheers mate.
Matthew, in '87, when this album came out, it completely changed my life. I was 16 at the time, and every song hit me in a way that's simply indescribable . Just curious...what do you think of the öld" U2 versus the new U2?
I never get tired of this one. Any version. I LOVE this song. One of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my ears.
Shanni S , this is THE SONG, not many will get it, but this is it.
NEVER...❤

@@stellajuliagames4546 ?
I agree
so true. Adam confines the music into a tight, bass inspired, box. Larry drives that beat beautifully with a consistent and precision down beay
Been in a bad place in life lately so been listening to this about 3 times a day love it
Sorry to read this Bubba, hoping it has helped you thru these times.

A fan of 30 years 👍
great great band ..
I've been a fan since the mid 80's...I think the first song I heard was either "Bad" or "New Years Day". Regardless, it was "Bad" that cemented the deal for me. I became obsessed with them for a long, long time.
Great pop band
I remember driving to this concert, the flags were at half mast all along the way and when this song played you could feel the energy and the collective emotion in the stadium, it's something I'll never forget
This band is the greatest in live performances, no one could beat them.
Lean Lute R.E.M. I thought was better, never heard anything better in my life..U2 right with them
It doesn’t matter in what year U2 play it’s songs, it is always as if it was the first time ❤️
probably the best guitar solo of The Edge playing One Tree Hill...!!!!!
One of the most underrated songs of U2
there are so many of them my friend, like jewels hidden in the sands
viksios true...
This song makes me cry, every fecking time.
Who underrated it? It wasn't me. Was it you?
not underrated here in New Zealand :).. but i take the point.. many countries didnt see it as a single. real shame that
Good?

I was there on the first night, you could hear a pin drop when those names went up on the screen, it was totally surreal
one of my very favourite U2 Songs of all time

Good morning chao
Loved the fact that Bono was surprised as Edge continued that beautifully picked solo which raang through the list. 😟💔❤🖤🤎💜💙💚💛🧡🤙
I looked up the true story behind this song. Only then do you realize how beautiful the text is. I love U2! 🎸
They usually play it every time they come to New Zealand. I have seen it live 6 times. Always Awesome!
Touching , mesmerizing, profoundly beautiful. Edge' s harmonies vastly under rated.
Damn! This song gets to me every time I listen to it. Precious lyrics.
Bono sounds great on this! Sends chills down my spine when he starts. Fantastic song! Love this band!

One of the best U2 songs ever!
Wonderful performance by a great band...very classy tribute for us here in New Zealand going through a tough time in 2010
+Earl Chatterton I previously didn't know U22 was recorded all around the world, and finding that this was recorded in Auckland was a thrill.
When the live version gives you chills. I am always grateful for U2 being better live.
I could bet this was one of the best performances among the 360 tour. Simply stunning.
Such an immpecable performance"👌👌👌
Bonos vocal is masterpiece material*****
Pretty sure this is the best version of this great song.
Definitely check the ‘Rattle And Hum’ live version, this is still performed brilliantly

This is a nice clear clean version, very gentle in a way. First time I can hear the full lyrics, all these years singing the wrong thing, hah!
Letra e melodia perfeita! Como não se emocionar por alguém que se foi para sempre! Bono é de mais!
