"To Be, or Not To Be..." excerpt (From "Hamlet, Prince of Denmark" by William Shakespeare)
"...
To die: to sleep:
Nor more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to; ‘tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished. To die; to sleep;
To sleep: perchance to dream: aye, there is the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come,
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause: there’s the respect
That makes calamity of so long life;
For who will bear the whips and scorns of time,
The oppressor’s wrong, the proud man’s contumely,
The pangs of despis’d love, the law’s delay,
The insolence of office, and the spurns,
That patient merit of the unworthy takes,
When he himself might his quietus make
With a bare bodkin? Who would fardels bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death -
The undiscover’d country from whose bourn
No traveler returns - puzzles the will
And makes us rather bear those ills we have
Than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all

Wonderful. I adore Sir Anthony! Thank you💖
brilliant. he has such a smooth delivery
I had to remind myself to breathe after hearing this, for fear that the noise of my breath might cause me to miss a single syllable.
Thank you, Sir Anthony. Brilliant!
A National Treasure. 🤗 💕
Thank you! Keep being healthy and have a happy 2021
Fantastic ! Can we, please get more cheerful topic , next time. Sir Hopkins ?! 😁 You are so great in comedy. We need something to cheer in the times of a very depressing situation with Covid worldwide.
Interesting interpretation. I must admit that after hearing Paul Scofield’s interpretation of Hamlet, Act III, Scene I “To be, or not to be”, this interpretation by Sir Hopkins seems to be based on a much older Hamlet which is a new interpretation to me.
I watched a few readings of that silly essay "Mario, the Idea vs. Mario, the Man", and now UA-cam is recommending me every video with "perchance" in the title.
The very first time i ever hear that line "to sleep, perchance to dream" was from Command and Conquer Kanes wrath. I had no idea it's from Hamlet
Brilliant

I never noticed before but has Hopkins' idiolect got a hint of Welsh in it?
edit - yes, that's how ignorant I was, he literally is Welsh
An English accent is always appreciated when listening to Shakespeare. Midwest, southern, Boston, New York, and New England accents are great in their own right; but Shakespeare?
PORTUGUÊS OU ESPANHOL PÔR FAVOR .... 💖💖🇧🇷
Hannibal always
