When I found my 2 Edward 1v gold nobles I was sure they were bottle tops😊. I was a bit bored as I hadn't found much so I was heading over to see the cows and like you said it's when you switch off it happens.

Great result especially after all your perseverance,it's the sort of field that must be good for your discriminatory perceptions ! I found five Romans stuck together once but no more in the ground,unless far deeper. Tasci is having fun too,nice to see him out n about again.

Well done Alex! You inspired me to get back into the hobby. I have only found 1 silver hammered coin in the 40 or so years since I went detecting with my dad for the first time. I had to give it back to the land owner who was very taken by it and had kindly allowed me to detect on his farm. I purchased some land recently and got a deus. I have found a couple more hammered now and I totally get what you are saying about them coming at the most odd moments. I always leave my detector on when I’m walking to my start point or walking back to the car. I was walking to a corner of my field when I got a lovely ping. I dug it and as soon as I realised it was hammered silver I was blown away. There are few things like that feeling. I must have dug 1000’s of holes in all the years I’ve been out detecting and when the good finds come up it’s all more than worth it. If you’re ever in the midlands and fancy a try on my field let me know. You would be very welcome. Long may your amazing finds continue. Thank you for making these videos.

The classic "I was just wandering back to the car" and your right, I think finds have more impact then because your mind goes to things like what shall I have for tea etc. So the good find sort of shocks you with a slap back into metal detecting when mentally you had almost turned your ears and machine off.

Congrats on the wonderful finds. You are so right about the randomness of finding stuff. I've been methodically working my way through the plum orchards on my main permission but some of the best finds have turned up when I've been randomly walking back to the car, or to some other part of the farm. All of the hammered coins and other old stuff I've had came from three particular areas - on Saturday I was detecting on another area where finds are quiet, and well away from the roads, and I was getting nothing. Just before giving up, I found a little hammered Richard II. A few months back, I was walking on a diagonal path through the trees back to my car, swinging as I went just in case and I found a Victorian men's gold ring.There is nothing consistent about your luck in this hobby!

Hi Alex, when you have been holding a detector and a spade gold and lead feel much lighter. So always check when you are back home. A friend of mine thought he had found a gold milk bottle cap but back home he found it was a gold badge from an ancient shield.

Green waste is awful. I detected a field after it was newly spread and picked up knife blades, vegetable peelers, bright shiny nails (maybe saving some tractor punctures), copius pieces of tin foil and a lot of pieces of plastic!. How I hated it! Needless to say we didn't have any more and have good old fashioned manure instead.

Congratulations on the Gold Coin, much like yourself I found my first Gold coin while walking back to the car beach detecting.. The beach had been stripped of sand and it was an amazing moment. Edward VII 1906 Gold Sovereign.. Looking forward to future videos. 😊

Perseverance pays off. Very nice finds for the effort put in. I'd be at that hoard in a flash, trying to pry them apart - without damaging them. Smiling. Probably get arrested, or fined for it. Keep at that field - who knows?

Great seeing Taski out, now if you were live casting we would be able to tell you he has wondered off.
If you decide to split them soak them in olive oil for a week to loosen them. Btw they are fused not soldered but under the circumstances of joy soldered told us what you meant. I can't image a pocket spill fusing like that perhaps a draw string bag which rotted away, but it certainly has the same appearance of many coins from a "potted" hoard' and then to crown it a hammered gold!!!! from the same patch. Taski is the bringer of good luck.

Outstanding! Good to see pupster out with you again - perhaps he deserves some credit for bringing you luck. Seems unlikely to me that those pennies would have stayed stuck together unless they were somehow protected for most of the time, perhaps by being part of a larger hoard that was more recently disturbed. @@HolzHammerSagas it's a great shame they litter the fields with that stuff. I think the draw of the last 2 finds from there will take you back, I'm sure there is more amongst all the tat. A purse drop is the likely cause I think. A purse bar might be handy to find as an indicator but it will send you doolally trying to find it.

A really good video, most days are rubbish but somedays are fantastic, I had a field that must have been a prisoner of war camp for the French, Napoleon wars, all it produced was French coins, buttons, and clasps,but very intresting.

That’s a cracking gold hammered Alexander well found amongst the tons of rubbish, that will look even better once it’s straightened out. I’m still waiting for my first gold coin in 11 years of detecting 😏 maybe this year 🤞

Well done Alex on the hammered gold. 🙂. Two odd Funny things my brothers top coin wish list is also a Roman Gold Aureus and also one of his two hammered gold coin finds is also a French ECU D'OR. 😀. Neither of us two have bragging rights yet when it comes to the hammered gold though because we both have found two each. 😊. I have seen a stack of about 10 Edward pennies found fused together and also four Saxon bronze stycas fused together. HH. From up North. 🙂.
