The best way to describe "Nena" is exciting. No white band could pull this song off the way a full horn powered Chicano band can (I'm white). I've been digging on this tune since 1972 and always will. Nicely done MYSTIQUE!

I was born and raised in San Francisco and went to school there also. I saw Carlos Santana twice there. Once I sat about 7 feet from him on the beach amongst a group of about 8 admirers. He played a savage acoustic and there was a conga player and a bongo player. Great memories! 😊

Obviously, these guys are not Malo but they all are professionals at what they do and this group is the best covers I have ever heard. In other words the next best thing to the original musicians. Thank you for the kind words. I want to say this was back in 2009-10 if not a little earlier. The group "Mystique" is currently not together. After the founders (Edward Villaba's) passing in 2014, the group managed to perform several other shows. We reunited (not all) and had a show in 2016. I'm sure at some point & time the band will get back together for a show here and there. These were certainly good times, with high caliber musicians.
Jerrysalsa 64 this are all former members of Malo , El Chicano , Mystic Band etc... they were preforming an analogy to the number Nena . That in part cause they all have preformed this number with their original bands .
