This little violin reminds me of my grandfather’s fiddle. Unfortunately, my cousin got it and cherishes it. Of coarse, we’re very glad to still have it in the family and know it will be passed down through the family. This same grandfather also left a cheap little mandolin that he played that I was able to restore to playable before passing it to my son.
Loved growing up in NorCal in the late 60's and 70's all the Latin bands you could see somewhere close every weekend, Santana, Malo, El Chicano, Azteca, Dakila, Sapo Cold Blood all the legends
I was born and raised in San Francisco and went to school there also. I saw Carlos Santana twice there. Once I sat about 7 feet from him on the beach amongst a group of about 8 admirers. He played a savage acoustic and there was a conga player and a bongo player. Great memories! 😊
I really enjoy listening to latino music like this . I come from the chicano era,and thats who I still am. I'm proud to have lived during the days these kind of latino bands were around. Keep the music going guys.
Thanks you Leo, Appreciate you stopping by. Keep listening, there’s still some pretty god Latin Rock groups out in the SF Bay Area! Those were some of the good ole days….
The best way to describe "Nena" is exciting. No white band could pull this song off the way a full horn powered Chicano band can (I'm white). I've been digging on this tune since 1972 and always will. Nicely done MYSTIQUE!
This is one of the best tunes of the '70s that still ranks at the top. Doesn't matter if it's by Malo, Mystique or whoever. Dig the tune for what it is, an ass kicking jam. For those in Chicago, call over some neighbors to your crib in Little Village, Pilsen or Brighton Park, crack some beers and rock and laugh together. Maybe the good vibes will infiltrate the neighborhood. 38th & Spaulding.
I am a old school Chicano from Gary Indiana saw Carlos Santana in concert in Chicago in the 70s Milo tiara all the good Latin bands and these Chicanos sound good they're jamming
OMG I am absolutely in love with this band. I am from SoCal and am hoping to someday hear you live. Everyone of in this band is awesome. I have nothing but respect and admiration for bands that play Latin music. YOU ARE THE BOMB!!!!!
Paul, Thank~you. Mystique is no longer together, but from Time 2 time several of the original group get together for a show now and then. Please visit me at www.sugayanpercussion.com . If your’re in The SF Bay Area perhaps we could meet up at one of the shows. Thank you for listening. P.S., you can catch more videos at my channel Tam Sugayan
I heard them and I seen them, but I still think these guys are the shit. Lots of love Chicano Power. Its good to see we are not dead but alive in hearts.
Thank~you Sal! Sorry the owner of Mystique passed away 7 years ago, no longer together yet once in a blue moon we do get together for Weddings or to Celebrate his Legacy……

To the nay sayers here posting ridiculous negative comments. YOU ARE MUSICALLY IGNORANT! MYSTIQUE keep doing your thing Much Love & Respect from San Jose
Oh Yeah ! I can feel the music in my soul: I really love the drum solo : It makes me feel like when I hear B B King on the guitar : the thrill is back 😳😉!..... My friends .

(Pt 1) Mario Thank you for your comments! I usually dont comment on criticisms and stupid comments but im gonna make an exception in your case. Wow 30 years playing songs from Malo, Santana, and El Chicano surely qualifies you as an expert in Latin Music. Being that I've only been playing for 40 years I am in awe of your resume carnal! Never mind that Mystique current and former band Rosters in the last 18 years have included Leopoldo Rosales (Malo), Tony Menjivar (Malo),
Obviously, these guys are not Malo but they all are professionals at what they do and this group is the best covers I have ever heard. In other words the next best thing to the original musicians. They all could be part of the group Malo, Santana etc...Absolutely love, love, love this group. Can someone please tell me what year this was and are they still performing as Mystique?
Thank you for the kind words. I want to say this was back in 2009-10 if not a little earlier. The group "Mystique" is currently not together. After the founders (Edward Villaba's) passing in 2014, the group managed to perform several other shows. We reunited (not all) and had a show in 2016. I'm sure at some point & time the band will get back together for a show here and there. These were certainly good times, with high caliber musicians.
Jerrysalsa 64 this are all former members of Malo , El Chicano , Mystic Band etc... they were preforming an analogy to the number Nena . That in part cause they all have preformed this number with their original bands .
Sorry MegaMario no respect. But I am a Chicano From 18th Street Chicago Il. I am old skool dud who seen Malo live when they came to Pilsen . I have never seen a better version of Nena Since Malo.I am 57 Years Old!
Dude the Mystique current and former band Rosters in the last 18 years have included Leopoldo Rosales, Tony Menjivar, Gibby Ross, Jorge Santana, Karl Perrazo, Tam Sugayan, Mio Flores, Mingo Lewis, Richard Bean, Raul Recow, Pete Escovedo, Juan Escovedo, Hank Castro, Jerry Salas, Steve Salas, Marcos Reyes, Tony Flores, Armando Perraza, Zorro, and Cederic Dionbi and Bobby Gaviola! If you dont know these names look them up and then make your stupid criticisms LMAO!
Its like I said in my comment they might not be Malo per say but they are all professionals at what they do and could very well play with anyone. Malo, Santana etc...
(Pt 2) Gibby Ross (Malo, Journey, Sammy Hagar), Jorge Santana (Malo), Karl Perrazo (Santana), Tam Sugayan (Sapo), Mio Flores (Sapo, El Chicano), Mingo Lewis (Santana, Al Dimeola), Richard Bean (Sapo, Malo), Raul Recow (Malo, Santana), Pete Escovedo (Azteca, Santana) Juan Escovedo (Confunction, Sheila E.), Hank Castro (Thee Midniters), Jerry Salas (El Chicano), Steve Salas (Tierra), Marcos Reyes (War, El Chicano), Tony Flores (Sapo, Bobby Womack, Marvin Gaye), Armando Perraza (Santana),

@@ruebenaguilera771 Yoshyamigo did a pretty respectable job with Nena. Thanks for the heads-up.
There have always been white guys mixed in Malo they feel it in their heart too, all the great bands of the 70's were mixed well
