Actually they were attempting to ram each other like medieval warships. They were attempting to have their crew of swarthy pirates board the enemy cat.
They’re so graceful in the water, the way they’d swim towards each other, nuzzle a little then turn & each go their seperate ways. It looked a little like Synchronised Swimming! Too freaking cute!

I expected them to beeline it to the shore, but they swam around like there was no hurry to touch dry land. These two obviously enjoyed their swim.
Me too, and even when they came in I thought they'd head for dry land immediately but nope, they decided to hang out in the water and wade for a while. The wading was kind of the best part for me.
To me they looked like they may have been desperate to find land but were disoriented and didn’t know which way the shore was. If there was a video showing cats walking into the water on their own that would be a different story but I’ve yet to see that. Most likely someone plopped them in the water and took the video for likes. People can be so selfish and thoughtless, especially when it comes to other animals.

Because cats are so small in comparison to humans, they are going to tire WAY before their human does! They also cannot judge the distance to shore or perhaps not able to see the shore! Their vision is not like a human's! They certainly CAN'T determine direction while in a big body of water! I'm afraid they're a tragedy waiting to happen. ☹ Sorry, just being realistic about it.

Looks like it's very shallow water. I was surprised at the end where they stop swimming and are just standing/walking.

You swimming cats inspired me to bring my cats into the bath with me. The doctors says I can get my stitches out after a few weeks but the skin grafts will take a long time to heal.

I cannot get over that they were in the water, swimming…voluntarily!! I was pretty impressed it’s the occasional impromptu synchronized movements! The whole thing is pretty darn spectacular!
I swear some cats are just born with it and some aren't. I have three cats I've all raised since they were kittens. Treated them all the exact same way. One is OBSSESSED with water. The moment he hears the shower turn on he'll bolt from wherever he is in the house to jump in. I remember him meowing pitifully one day as me and the dogs were swimming in the pool. I let him out, and he jumps into the pool with the dogs.
The two other cats want nothing to do with the water. Any attempt to bathe them and they act like they are about to die.
Makes me think info I’ve heard about Souls making incarnation contracts with us to be our pets to help us learn unconditional love could be true. Maybe the cat that loves water loved swimming in another life and that information came through activated in the DNA.

This is a trip to watch because you rarely see one cat swimming y itself, let alone two actually swimming together.

I hope maybe he got a rinse if it was chlorine though, since kitties wash thier own fur. I'm so happy you let him out to join, and let him go in the shower. How sweet.

So I have two dogs. Theoretically. One ist just a dolphin born inside the wrong body and the other is a breed between a sphinx cat, and a petty lab dog. So one "dog" dies, when she needs to get out of the water and the other dies, if his toes even touch it. (It's fun to plan activities with them)

You should see my dachshund, how he carefully veers around every little puddle to *just* not get his royal paws wet, or dancingly balances along underneath the roof ledges when it's raining. And the *sounds* ...more like a primaballerina than a hunting dog.

It seems like we're seeing more and more cats who swim or like being in water. Maybe they're evolving.
Most likely all have Maine Coon in their gene pool because they love water and swimming 😁
They know the ice is melting 😂😂
Breed specific and early positive exposure to water just like leash training helps a g re at deal. Not all cats will enjoy this... but if you notice how many feral cats run from the rain to take shelter when it gets wet out... you will see their natural behaviors are closer of that to wild species like tigers. They will just walk through puddles and flick off rain and swim and play. Van cats, some Savannahs, Maine Coons, etc. will all willingly play in water. Start them as kittens in what feels colder than normal temps to you (remember their bodies are tiny and warm to you may burn them), a slow quiet running water source off to the side with an easily eascapable ramp, toy distractions, water only up to their first ankles, and a calm.... non-forced... slow introduction.
Similar to leash and harness training. Start very young... (same time as new kittens exploring the world learning baths and weaning from mom's milk), and start with break away collars. Train to put them on AWAY from the door source, so the cat will learn that walks are a privilege to be given on your terms.... and not to rush the door every time it opens. And always the same process. Sit, pet/treat, harness, leash clip, treat, pet/treat, door, pet/treat, check windows, pet/treat, open, check again, pet/treat , then out. The pet rewards will replace treats... and the checks are needed to monitor safety routines to check for other animals that may be a potential danger to your cat. (You never know if someone is walking their dog that can literally be fine, but attempt to kill your cat on sight as their only trigger. Shouldn't happen... But better to be cautious and train on the side of safety. And yes.. we ran into SEVERAL aggressive breeds that have had this issue only with my cat who responded by sitting and staring instead of running or hissing.)
You also want them to train with treats, but encourage the pet reward for health reasons. Once trained to wear the harness, and the door is fine. The opening of the door presents no scared reaction... the next is a simple get them to step outside and back inside on their will and pace. Eventually a few paces... etc. Some just want to go and lead... some only the porch... some are happy only with the doorway. I had very different responses from cats. One was doing several miles of walks and helped to coax the others outside easier. One just was content with the porch ... barely outside the door no matter what.
Intelligence wise is also breed specific... But general cats are smart and can be trained to play fetch and do chores like dogs... But most don't train their cats. My cats open doors, were caught teaching each other how to defeat the child safety locks on the cabinets (to get the cat treats), can open the ziplocks on the cat treats, play fetch, understand which child in my home is autistic and treat him differently , protection wise and even as a therapy pet to calm his outbursts (we had a black Savannah).
So it isn't the animals moving towards this in evolution.... just people becoming more aware of their behaviors and capabilities with more things showing up on the internet.

@@AuntieHauntieGames Yep, more than anything in my experience it's sudden changes later in life that shock cats into reacting violently. They're like any animals (people included) where you can wean them onto things pretty reliably if done early and safely.
Never had a cat react by trying to run from the water as you described. Brought at least 2 cats swimming intentionally, numerous times.

Я думаю, что тут есть небольшая хитрость. Котики, по-видимому , одеты в спасательные жилетки и им легко плавать. И приучены к воде наверное с детства, поэтому плавать им в удовольствие.
