Aren't marble phantasms supposed to only enact things that are theoretically possible as well as lack the ability to act directly on things outside of Gaia such as humans and man made objects? IIRC the difference between reality marbles and marble phantasms is explained in that if both were used to pick a black marble out of a jar of white marbles, the marble phantasm would make it so the outcome in which the marble taken is the black one already present happens while the reality marble would turn all the marbles black. Reality marbles are obviously limited by the specific rules that shape it and its pocket dimension nature has pros and cons but I just don't feel like the rules and limitations of marble phantasms are being conveyed very well.
@@dumpsterplayer5133 The explanations I encountered before gave the impression that humans and human made constructs were outside Gaia's domain and therefore couldn't be directly acted upon by Gaia. So basically you could use a marble phantasm to manipulate nature but not a building and would have to use nature to kill a human instead of just willing them to die. It's a bit like how explanations of the counterforce get a bit confusing when it goes from describing Gaia and Alaya having their own versions of it and then later describing something associated with one as part of the other like there's no difference. Stuff like that makes untangling nasuverse lore needlessly confusing and frustrating on top of hunting down the info across so many sources to begin with.
@@dumpsterplayer5133 Humans and even ones with non human ancestry have to pretty deliberately depart from their humanity to go from Alaya to Gaia. While they're still connected and have mutual goals, a big part of the separation was that Gaia couldn't use humanity the way it can other beings still in its domain and that humanity lost influence over Gaia's domain when they left it. That makes allowing elementals and stuff to manipulate the realm of Alaya even with more difficulty seem like overstepping what should be a firm limitation of their abilities. For the counterforce thing, I was referring to stuff like how FGO made heroic spirits part of Gaia's counterforce as part of its plot, which doesn't make much sense for a number of reasons. The most relevant reasons here being that most of them are human or human derived and would therefore be in Alaya's domain. There's also that Gaia has a whole thing about wanting humans dead and using its counterforce to do so. On the topic of humanity's relationship with the planet, I don't think the series does a good job explaining how daemons and the imaginary element tie into the world and how creating beings by imagining them into existence affects their nature. It seems like humanity created divine spirits and elementals this way but it's also a defining aspect of how daemons come into existence. Then there's how useless the term demon is at explaining what something is because it's used to describe so many different things. Basically what I'm getting at is that the nasuverse gets too caught up in throwing ideas around without doing a good job presenting them clearly and coherently. Some of this stuff gets plot relevant and the abilities and limitations of things is often important to shape expectations of what people are capable of within the setting. It's something the series really needs to get better at doing.
