Watching this 40 plus years later, it's really uncanny to see how Dolly's philosophy of life, articulated here, continues to be lived to the fullest. She turned 78 yesterday and a local channel played all of her most popular movies on a loop. All I wanted for Christmas was her Rockstar album. As per this interview, she's still dreaming and thinking of new ways to be productive and make people happy. One last thing I notice from all of her interviews is that she consistently listens intently to the questioner and reflects before answering. Such an impressive talent and human being.

Dolly really answers questions, doesn't deviate, gives the whole picture, goes to the point, even if it's hard. Beautiful.

Bobby! I'm from Garland, Texas and I think you are an outstanding interviewer in regards to film. I miss the good old days where this was a craft. Profound. Any advice on where to begin?

Approach every media agency. Learn the names of the human resources personnel. Gain experience with any media company you possibly can. Slowly build a portfolio. Good luck.

You have ZERO idea what God is and isn't okay with, as you aren't in His seat. Your own closet is so dam full of tra$h, so stay in it, close the door, and clean ur own shiite up t00ts before you go worrying about another's closet u busy a$$ body.

@@Poetic_Justice1962 I believe God loves Dolly very much, and she is great in many ways. But God can care about a person and still be unhappy with them promoting human trafficking by hiding it under a romanticized pink ideal invented by men who prey on the poor. Looking at the realities of s exual abuse in the s ex industry is important, and it's dishonest of us to pretend to be progressive or even egalitarian while in our underbelly we're selling young women (and often boys, as well) to violent pervs. The issue with movies like this one she did is they essentially make light without bringing any honesty to the suffering (and rampant STD issues) caused by that system. They sell a lie.
The movie can and does talk about "Jesus" forgiving the "chicken" house proprietor, but while religious people like to forget it, the reality of injustice still exists. And if God exists, a just God can't just forgive something that doesn't change. Actual forgiveness involves teshuvah, which is the Hebrew term in Scripture religious people like to forget, too. It means turning away from that which harms and towards the good. We can talk a lot about God, but a faith without feet and a love that ignores suffering is neither real faith nor real love, and a God who turns a permanent blind eye to injustice isn't real, either. He may be patient, but at some point, if things don't change, he will change them or die to pay for them. Any less is spitting in the faces of the victims.
I like Dolly. Still important to be honest when a work diminishes an important issue. I think she's strong enough to take it.
