When painting is done well, it always looks so beautiful! Unfortunately, the prep work is over the top long, and tedious... I don't have the patience for it myself. Good job, boys!
Happy new year guys, best boat reno on UA-cam. The black paint has really come up well especially using a roller. Once all the trim and attachments go back on it will really make it stand out. As usual your attention to detail is paying off. I bet you sick to death of sanding lol. Cheers Terry from NZ.
I'll be "painting" my radar arch in the winter and curious of your choice of Alexseal. It looks amazing, so I'm interested to understand why you chose this over Awlcraft and why you chose not to go for a clear coat on top. Look forward to your insights.....
The consensus seems to be Alexseal is easier to work with and repair. Alexseal doesn’t need a clear coat. We learned later on to use a higher percentage of brush reducer which gave us a better finish off the roller….
I have debated about sending this comment but here we go. First your work up until now looks great! However the new paint job has made a lot of work for you to have it the way you want. First the roller you used was too course so you have lots of orange peal that will be hard to sand. The way that works for me is to roll and tip. This leaves a finish that is almost as good as spraying. Look this technic up on inter inter net. Think you will like it. Keep up the good work..
Thanks Richard, always good to hear other people’s experiences. We are complete amateurs with the Alexseal system and we were very much learning on the job. We did consider tipping, but decided to go roller only method based on Andy at Boat Works today experiences. We think a combination of temperature and mixing ratio most likely caused the orange peel. Interested to hear their are better roller options. The Anza felt rollers were recommended to us by the Alexseal UK distributor, but I’m sure there are better options available. The top coat has now been wet sanded and polished. The results are excellent and will be covered in a future video 👍🏻
Just a few more steps and it would be professional. Wet sand to remove orange peel and imperfections then deep cut compounding buff then finesse compound buff and you would be absolutely blown away 😊
I find it fascinating that your subscriber base is so small. It is the same with all other boating channels. The guys that got their wives and girlfriends half naked get the views. Yours is just honesty. Something not appreciated anymore. Your channel and boat is a work of art. Thanx. At least I can escape here without perverts
Hi guys for some reason UA-cam alerts are not working but great job with roller paint work going to try that with my 55 year old glass fibre sports car as £8000 for a professional paint job is more than the car is worth, however we’ll done again now how long will it be before you start the fit out hopefully this year keep going guy we’re all behind you 🛥
Done well with the paint lads. Looks great and always nice to go forward rather than repairing for a change. Great video as always.
Thanks Dave 👍
Beautiful - completely changes the boat, I love it!
Thank you very much 👍
Great video! Very helpful getting the understanding of the decision making and all those good practice moves when doing this job
Good morning! With this meticulous work being done the boat will look showroom new! You gents have this nailed.
Thanks Kevin !
Great update guys. Really good quality finish on the paintwork as Dave said it’s definitely nice going forward.👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks John 👍
Beautiful paint job. Well done guys.
Thank you very much!

Hey, great job again … like the motivation to get such good results … and also the nice music into background ! …
Thank you so much 👍
Another Top Video from You Guys. Top Work as always 🙂
Thanks Jimbo 👍

Thanks and Happy New Year ! The sanding does get a little tedious, but the results are worth it 👍

Would have been perfect had you used the additive. Comes out like glass!
We did use brush reducer at 15%. We have subsequently used at 25% with far better results
Nice work! It would be nice with a walk-through video of what’s been done and what it looked like before, and future plans
Thanks and nice idea !
Great job as always! Looks Super!
Can we expect a video a little more often in 2023?
Thanks Pat. That's the plan!

Thanks for the tip. Already done !
What rollers did you use? Couldn't see if that were foam or mohair rollers. Please also tell the brand and exact type if possible.
We used Anza Felt rollers in this video, however we've recently used Redtree Mohair rollers and have had better results !
@@boatholic4458 Thanks so much!
When will we be expecting a finish date?
We've not set a date, we will only miss it !
I wonder if tipping off with a foam brush would have gotten rid of the fine ripples.
We have subsequently learned adding more brush reducer improves the finish 👍
@@boatholic4458 Aha.
Flatten it and have the top coat spraypainted. You will be happier in the end I think. Otherwise it looks really good with the bicolor theme.
Not sure spraying would be a good idea in our situation, overspray would go everywhere 👍
What did use in areas the roller can't get to?
We used a soft paint brush in the hard to reach areas
toooooop

Thanks Pieter ! Maybe we should start wearing bikini's !!
Not acceptable for a professional job. The surface has orange skin. What did say the owner?
We are the owners 👍
