The reason that cracked with the mesh tape is somebody.Didn't know what they were doing. And they use joint compound instead of Durham bond.Anytime you use mesh tape you need to use durable on

Another great video 👍the things you're explaining are why I stay in business..... fixing behind others....

Thanks John. I ended up tearing out 3 more flats on that painted ceiling all done with mesh tape.

Nicely done. Prep work is the most critical part. Most new construction guys just blow through with the bazooka and don't prefill or cut out loose board and paper. It's a shame because it will last a little longer than their 1 year warranty and their off the hook. But fixing their mistakes has kept me in business 😆

Truth about the warranty. I have gone back to only 1 house in past 4 years for only 1 crack over a window. I have finished 120 to 140 houses in that time.

Solid prep mate , hardly anyone shows these bits of the job.
You asked if I had any questions on a previous video. I'm on a big commercial job where the painters are painting units behind me that I've already finished. Problem is I'm getting to see my own work and another plasterer' after it's sealed and I'm horrified not by internals and naughty meeting points that I spend a lot of time on. But bloody flat joins 😬 can't believe I'm not picking up on chew marks from the sander and thick looking lines etc. Wondering if it's my sandibghead ir the discs or I need a brighter light.
Any chance of an insight brother , cheers man

What mud are you finishing with? Also what sander are you using?

Do you think it’s necessary to prime any brown spots from peeled drywall

I use mesh tape for repair like that but always coat it with hot mud

That is what I just ripped out of there. See many believe that hot mud is good for taping. Reality is, easy sand quickset muds don’t have a lot of adhesive on them. With the exception of durabond brown bag quickset mud. I’ll do a strength comparison video of different muds to show the differences.

This has been debated for over 20 years. Surely manufacturer could test trial and advise user to use or not use mesh tape regardless of hot mud or air dry compound. Can I ask where is purpose of mesh tape. I mean what can you use it on?

I've seen a few of your videos and they were worth my time, keep it up. But, you need to edit. You shouldn't just make a viewer wait for 20 seconds while you walk to the truck.

When it comes to editing, I have no idea where to start.

@@manwithapan I know what you mean, editing video can seem like a not straight forward thing to get done. But you got this far with your UA-cam channel, I bet you'll figure it out. I'm not an expert on this but start with deciding if you want to use video editing software on your phone or on your desktop/laptop. Then find a popular program that is simple, you only need to do the most basic video editing tasks which are trim, cut and splice. If you like working on your phone there are lots of apps that can totally handle this. If you're lucky you got a family member that can help you out and give you a big head start. Good luck.

@@tonyc7352 sounds like we could trade services. Come finish with me, you can edit and I’ll fine tune your finish. I’ll even pay well. Lol
