    I am definitely a rebel! I’m very played piano and organ for years and one of my biggest concerns about learning the harp is skipping the technique because I want to play all the music and I want to play it NOW.

    I have been looking forward to you making this available, it's just what I need to restore my focus and confidence after having less time to play my harp whilst caring for my partner after his surgery. Let me improve my technique again and get on with my learning, and speed up my identification of notes on the bass clef. Then I'll put myself into the skill building category. Thank you Anne, for your timely publication of these exercises, I've got my instant download and I'm ready to start!

    Thanks so much for this learning tool.... You are hearing from a note learner and skill builder beyond a doubt. It has been about 1 calendar year since reuniting with my harp. All of your music and learning techniques have been incredibly helpful to my journey. I can not describe how much I appreciate Music Discoveries.

    I downloaded Perfect Placing before I even finished the video. This video is so helpful, and I'm looking forward to progressing with this method of practice. I am a NOTE LEARNER. I have been reading music for over 60 years....but that doesn't mean that I can look at music and immediately place my fingers on the right strings of my harp! My goal is to be able to play at least two Christmas carols - without hesitation - by the end of November. Do you think I can do it?

    Thanks for your wonderful instructions, Anne. I am a total beginner at harp, with 48 years of piano and more recently, autoharp, Irish whistle, accordion and melodeon.
    I haven't bought a harp yet, but I just rented a 26 string Harpsicle to get me started. I am looking for a 34 string.
    What harp do you have?

    I enjoyed the video, though it is yet too advanced for me. Just yesterday I began practicing hand position, posture, and plucking. Soon, I will be ready for an actual song to learn, I think. But, I wanted to ask if I am starting correctly? Should I just dive into learning a song and get the basics, there? I am using a book for basics at this time.

    I will be a skill builder and rebel I hope as my first harp is being built. You mentioned having a "pickup" being installed in a harp. Would you teach on that subject such as kinds of pickups, costs, purpose, etc. I hope to learn and do harp therapy. What course did you take and how long dud it take?

    Hi Anne, Just purchased this new placing book. Think it will be a tremendous help. It's like going back to the beginning, learning the correct way to place. THEN... I won't struggle when learning a new piece. I absolutely love Lilac and Lavender, but my playing is stumbly and slow.

    • @annecrosbygaudetmusic
      @annecrosbygaudetmusic  2 роки тому +4

      Speaking from experience, taking the time to improve placing and linking has a big impact on tone and fluency! I spent two years feeling like I was falling off the strings, but after about a million hover-open-places it started to feel easy!

    re note learning - I find I can read the treble clef and the base clef - ( from when I dabbled with beginner cello) but when reading together - my mind is having to translate the base clef so its easier to write the notes at this stage - though it doesn't seem optimal.

    • @annecrosbygaudetmusic
      @annecrosbygaudetmusic  2 роки тому +1

      The trick is to memorize certain landmark notes in each clef and then learn to read how the notes are moving. You could certainly practice naming all the bass clef notes, but try not to write them in (or maybe just the first note in each measure).

    • @donnamckinnon4927
      @donnamckinnon4927 2 роки тому

      @@annecrosbygaudetmusic okay -will try that - in the meantime, I'm trying to memorise each section so I don't have to do 3 things at once - read 2 clefs and play! (It probably wouldn't work for more complex pieces later!

      Well, I think I'm in a new category all together--I am a Harp Hopeful--someone who certainly hopes that she can learn the harp. I think I'll buy "Perfect Placing" and dedicate at least 30 minutes a day to the exercises, if not more. I have a habit of placing high on the strings and then sliding down. I'm glad I watched this video :)
