With the removal of DX11, unless they have pulled a one in a million shot (for Ubisoft), they will effectively kill the game on PC. I know of not a single person that can play on DX12 without stutter issues. I sure hope they properly optimised it this time.
i have a 4080 7800x3d and quit the game when they removed vulcan my game freezes on dx11 and dx12 and its only siege i have problems with game is unplayable
@cgrm6 It's not about frames, it's about stutters. I have a 7800X3D with a 7900 XT, run the game at 4k and pretty high settings with 220fps. The frames don't drop below 180 but the game still stutters. It's a common issue and it's ridiculously frustrating. Some settings seem to make it worse like anti aliasing but I don't think I've had stutter free game on this PC after hundreds of hours
I mean im against it myself but i imagine over a couple month period of everyone using dx12 they can iron out the major stuttering with time. I still dont think forcing people with lower end systems to use DX12 is a good idea and worst case it becomes unplayable for many active players.
@@ehh9104Vulkan is usually friendlier to older hardware. Though dx12 does have upscaling that will benefit fps. However....upscaling is more for AAA games running at high resolutions. Most people are gonna be playing siege at 1080p and at 1080p upscaling looks terrible. We just have to hope they fix dx12 as a whole and tbh i don't have high hopes but we'll see....
@@zera3124 well a 6600xt isn't exactly old in my case. But in Y8 even my old 1050ti could push out 140fps on low. Now I'm at 200 with the 6600xt same settings. It's only a 4x faster gpu
Answer for console players asking what DX11 is or why it's removal means anything. On PC siege, you are able to launch the game in 2 API modes, DX11 or DX12. This used to be DX11 or vulkan, but vulkan was removed at the beginning of this past season. Vulkan for years was the default API for most users because it resulted in higher useable fps and seemed to just have less hiccups overall. Vulkan was much less resource intensive API than DX11, and DX11 is much less resource intensive than DX12. Since the launch of this last season and introduction of DX12, it has had constant stuttering issues (just like DX11 had at launch of this season, but 5x worse and the issues have yet to be resolved) where your character pauses or rubberband for seconds at a time in round, and these stutters occur at least once every minute or so. The stutters on DX12 are not caused inherently by having lower end hardware, but having lower end PC specs makes DX12 even worse than it already is. I have a 7800x3d and 7900gre in my PC (a pretty high end combo) and still experience issues making DX12 unplayable. For those with even mid-range PCs, not having DX11 will make the game terrible to play unless Ubi somehow resolved the stuttering issues.
I completely agree with you. I have a Ryzen 7 5700x3D and and RX 6800 XT, and I have so many instances of frame drops that I have had to stop playing the game. Unless they can tweak/improve DX12 or return Vulkan, I cannot play.

DX11 does not obviously only run on pre 2019 cards and often times preforms better for even newer lower/mid cards, and when it comes to stability dx11 has always been way more studder free (why I use it over 12 on a 3070). Stop believing all the excuses ubi says bruh every other triple A game has both compatibilities just fine, porting is the hard part and ubi has already done that so the maintaining excuse dosnt work
since the update that removed Vulkan, DX12 has been unplayable no matter how strong your pc is. removing DX11 without fixing DX12 will make like 80% of the remaining PC playerbase just leave the game because it won't fucking work.

With DX11 getting disabled, this will sadly be the season, where a lot of players just stay away from the game indefinitely. Because Dx12 just does not work at all on a lot of systems.

have a 3060ti and any other game is fine on dx12, siege was the only exception where there was definitely 2ms more of frametime and stutters compared to vulkan or dx11, this shit is sad man dx12 has been broken since i actually started playing siege more on pc

DX11 being removed means i wont even be able to play the game, not just from a game stuttering standpoint, but from siege freeze-loading on the “Please wait while we connect to Ubisoft Servers” screen. That’s a known issue, even with mid-high tier specs. Ubisoft needs to take feedback into consideration more often.
I’ve been waiting for them to reduce flashes to 2 for a long time ngl. The throwables economy is so cluttered it makes playing Jager/Wamai difficult at times. This should help.

Bro shields in a 1v1 where almost a bossfight in siege but now if they are alone they are fucked. You can confidently run at one, melee twice then knife. Such a huge nerf.
By looking at the winrate graphs, 100% deserved. Its just a guranteed win for the shield player in the 1v1 unless they play stupid or their opponent has a c4 or is smoke/lesion.
Yeah there is almost nothing to deter a player from knifing shields up close anymore, and players in ranked LOVE doing this. In the old days you at least had hipfire to deter aggression, you have absolutely nothing now.
Under dx 12 you must deaktivate Hyperthreading in the Bios. The Problem is not the Gpu. The Problem is the Cpu at dx 12. Vulkan does eliminate the cpu overhead. Thats why the cpu is the Problem.
Actually, not that simple. DX11 only use a single thread to send the api calls. All the other cores are free to use by the developers. DX12 changes that to multi core api calling, each thread will call the DX api amd the commands are buffered and sent out by multiple threads managed by the DX driver and the OS. Vulkan is a mix of the two. Multiple cores buffers the api calls then one core will send the commands out, no need to manage by the OS.
My guess is it gets converted into a new shield skin, they might also have to change his elite animation too bc I don’t remember if it uses his face shield or not
@alibiiana3919 it's live on the test server. There's a new skin for the shield, everything else is the same except there's no deagle. He holds the shield in the animation just like any other op holding their gun
When you test the shield rework, I had a couple of things I've been curious about to kinda understand how it'll function: 1. does the shield break get stronger for all shields (apart from full extended ones) the more you melee them? I know that with monty every break gets stronger, but its because the first melee is already really week. I had thought it was the strongest on unextended shields the first melee, so It'd be good to understand how far it gets melee'd to the side (to do the mouse-to-the-side trick to block bullets during the guard break as much as possible) 2. In guard break, can you put the shield on the back, or are you pretty much stuck like that till you get out of the guard break state. The designer notes make it unclear whether they removed that or not.
Ubisoft removing the D-50 from blackbeards kits is as offensive as shooting a bald eagle with a British musket on thanksgiving. Ubisoft is chuck full of croc shit for them to do that. Love how the guns I buy for said elite goes away/moved to other ops I do not enjoy playing.

Having the money loss working under multiple APIs while also being constraint by differences in the API is probably hell for a dev team who's already working with spaghetti code. I'm hopeful that they've spent time optimizing the DX12 version of the game prior to aging dx11, but Ubi is Ubi.
Nobody cares because its not what she needed. She just needs her gadget to not heal the enemy team. She already had one of the best primary shotguns with the bearing 9. Adding a secondary shotgun does nothing to her kit except for the people who prefer to use the spear over the spas 12

If number of players had anything to do with winrates then ops like doc, ash, and vigil would have winrates through the roof.
dx12 was unplayable for on my pc a few months ago. I tried it for the first time since then today and I didn't stutter. played 3 games and restarted each time no stutters.

I honestly think shields should do like 1or 5 hp damage that way they can melee and kill a downed player. Also, 5hp damage might be a good middle ground to prevent shielders griefing a lone defender with constant knockback forever
I'm mostly annoyed at the fact Blackbeard doesn't have the Desert Eagle anymore. That seems bizarre to me. Like I get balancing wise him with the Deagle-shield combo would be wild, but the Elite skin on that Desert Eagle, that was HIS skin. Weird pivot in terms of his loadout.
Hopefully the matchmaking improvement will keep solo / duo players away from facing full 5 stacks Or help them get with full 3/4 stacks so the disadvantage isn’t too great
I have a question for you, and for the other viewers as well. A friend of mine is into more PvE games, and he plays on PC, but with a controller because that's how he grew up that's what fits him best etc. Shouldn't he be able to play on console servers? Because the input is the same, if they put like a 120 FPS cap from PC to Console while using a controller, wouldn't this be a viable two way crossplay? Like a 3-step placement to the game servers regarding the system (Console/PC) the input (Controller/MnK) and the system cap(120 FPS for example). I would like to get your views and opinions on this.
DirectX is backwards compatible to itself, so theoretically it wont cut anyone off from the game if they dont have DX12, but I really struggle to see this as any sort of positive development. Hopefully reducing the amount of APIs will help to focus on optimizing DX12, rather this being ubi saying screw everyone not on top end hardware
Welp, was looking forward to playing this update but I guess I’m done with siege forever unless they bring back dx11. Dx12 causes my entire menu to glitch out with static, and horrible frame drops once in game. And no, this shouldn’t be a hardware limitation, I’m running a 3070 with a 13700k… drivers are updated too.
Then just like a normal attacker, you need to position yourself in a way to get a 1v1 engagement. You shouldn't have the option to be a wall and then instantly be lethal because a 1-off clutch situation is slightly harder for you than it used to be
The only thing I don’t like about the Blackbeard change is how it interacts with clash I think it’s too strong of a counter id rather have more options of counter an operator than with another operator I think they should dial it back a bit and add some other solid ways of countering him and the only other thing is the shield nerf I think doing no damage on melee was enough because well that mean there’s not that much danger of a shield pushing you cause well that’s a death sentence for the shield but other than that well done Ubisoft one thing I’d like to see since we’re not doing the two new ops anymore is a constant rework on stuff kinda like they’ve been doing so when doing a remaster along with it rework some other stuff so maybe a remaster of an operator and or a brand new map and when it comes to a new operator I would like to see maybe a new gadget of something that affects gameplay to keep things fresh they don’t have to be added at the same time if they need to iron out some kinks then do that but it’d be nice to see

DX11 is the only graphic engine that works. In DX12 I still get stuttering and I have a 9800X3D and a 3090 and recently did a fresh install, still broke.
Got 200 fps ultra settings on vulkan and am now only getting 100 on dx11. dx12 doesn't even run on my pc, just insta crashes on startup, how tf am I supposed to play the game? probably for the better.
There is no longer anything fun left in this game, especially for console. Mousetrap doesnt work at all and the last fun attackers are now completely obsolete. BO6 is just better in every way
The 90 day ban with mousetrap should also require 100 matches played so people dont just wait out the ban on an alt account and have to play 100 matches as well wait the 90 days

i believe during the world revel video they mentioned that we on console now can play the pc lobby with mouse and keyboard natively. Can you confirm this to us pls? I believe they said " mouse trap will be there to make sure console wont use the mouse and keyboard on the wrong pool!" i guess this means when we choose pc and console lobby we will have the ability to play m&k native. but if we go only console lobby this must be only controller.

have a 3060ti and any other game is fine on dx12, siege was the only exception where there was definitely 2ms more of frametime and stutters compared to vulkan or dx11, this shit is sad man dx12 has been broken since i actually started playing siege more on pc

DX11 being removed means i wont even be able to play the game, not just from a game stuttering standpoint, but from siege freeze-loading on the “Please wait while we connect to Ubisoft Servers” screen. That’s a known issue, even with mid-high tier specs. Ubisoft needs to take feedback into consideration more often.
I’ve been waiting for them to reduce flashes to 2 for a long time ngl. The throwables economy is so cluttered it makes playing Jager/Wamai difficult at times. This should help.

You can delete the game, because it is impossible to play on dx 12. It drops fps by 20-30, there are large input delays and textures flicker.
Bro shields in a 1v1 where almost a bossfight in siege but now if they are alone they are fucked. You can confidently run at one, melee twice then knife. Such a huge nerf.
You can still bait by opening and closing the shield. Also you can't just run at a blitz and expect to do this as you'll get flashed

By looking at the winrate graphs, 100% deserved. Its just a guranteed win for the shield player in the 1v1 unless they play stupid or their opponent has a c4 or is smoke/lesion.
Yeah there is almost nothing to deter a player from knifing shields up close anymore, and players in ranked LOVE doing this. In the old days you at least had hipfire to deter aggression, you have absolutely nothing now.

Under dx 12 you must deaktivate Hyperthreading in the Bios. The Problem is not the Gpu. The Problem is the Cpu at dx 12. Vulkan does eliminate the cpu overhead. Thats why the cpu is the Problem.
Actually, not that simple.
DX11 only use a single thread to send the api calls. All the other cores are free to use by the developers.
DX12 changes that to multi core api calling, each thread will call the DX api amd the commands are buffered and sent out by multiple threads managed by the DX driver and the OS.
Vulkan is a mix of the two. Multiple cores buffers the api calls then one core will send the commands out, no need to manage by the OS.
that may be a workaround, but who tf is gonna want to do all dat for 1 game. it doesnt actually solve the issue, its just a bandaid fix

When you test the shield rework, I had a couple of things I've been curious about to kinda understand how it'll function:
1. does the shield break get stronger for all shields (apart from full extended ones) the more you melee them? I know that with monty every break gets stronger, but its because the first melee is already really week. I had thought it was the strongest on unextended shields the first melee, so It'd be good to understand how far it gets melee'd to the side (to do the mouse-to-the-side trick to block bullets during the guard break as much as possible)
2. In guard break, can you put the shield on the back, or are you pretty much stuck like that till you get out of the guard break state. The designer notes make it unclear whether they removed that or not.

why are they removing DX11? DX12 literally is in a cripple state, even with newer equipment its still just overall worse and crashes 3x more than DX11.

Having the money loss working under multiple APIs while also being constraint by differences in the API is probably hell for a dev team who's already working with spaghetti code.
I'm hopeful that they've spent time optimizing the DX12 version of the game prior to aging dx11, but Ubi is Ubi.

If number of players had anything to do with winrates then ops like doc, ash, and vigil would have winrates through the roof.
dx12 was unplayable for on my pc a few months ago. I tried it for the first time since then today and I didn't stutter. played 3 games and restarted each time no stutters.

I honestly think shields should do like 1or 5 hp damage that way they can melee and kill a downed player. Also, 5hp damage might be a good middle ground to prevent shielders griefing a lone defender with constant knockback forever
I'm mostly annoyed at the fact Blackbeard doesn't have the Desert Eagle anymore. That seems bizarre to me. Like I get balancing wise him with the Deagle-shield combo would be wild, but the Elite skin on that Desert Eagle, that was HIS skin. Weird pivot in terms of his loadout.

A friend of mine is into more PvE games, and he plays on PC, but with a controller because that's how he grew up that's what fits him best etc. Shouldn't he be able to play on console servers? Because the input is the same, if they put like a 120 FPS cap from PC to Console while using a controller, wouldn't this be a viable two way crossplay? Like a 3-step placement to the game servers regarding the system (Console/PC) the input (Controller/MnK) and the system cap(120 FPS for example). I would like to get your views and opinions on this.

DirectX is backwards compatible to itself, so theoretically it wont cut anyone off from the game if they dont have DX12, but I really struggle to see this as any sort of positive development. Hopefully reducing the amount of APIs will help to focus on optimizing DX12, rather this being ubi saying screw everyone not on top end hardware

Welp, was looking forward to playing this update but I guess I’m done with siege forever unless they bring back dx11. Dx12 causes my entire menu to glitch out with static, and horrible frame drops once in game. And no, this shouldn’t be a hardware limitation, I’m running a 3070 with a 13700k… drivers are updated too.

Removing melee damage from shields is pretty dumb. What if you're the last one, and two defenders are melee you or shooting at you at the same time?
Then just like a normal attacker, you need to position yourself in a way to get a 1v1 engagement. You shouldn't have the option to be a wall and then instantly be lethal because a 1-off clutch situation is slightly harder for you than it used to be

The only thing I don’t like about the Blackbeard change is how it interacts with clash I think it’s too strong of a counter id rather have more options of counter an operator than with another operator I think they should dial it back a bit and add some other solid ways of countering him and the only other thing is the shield nerf I think doing no damage on melee was enough because well that mean there’s not that much danger of a shield pushing you cause well that’s a death sentence for the shield but other than that well done Ubisoft one thing I’d like to see since we’re not doing the two new ops anymore is a constant rework on stuff kinda like they’ve been doing so when doing a remaster along with it rework some other stuff so maybe a remaster of an operator and or a brand new map and when it comes to a new operator I would like to see maybe a new gadget of something that affects gameplay to keep things fresh they don’t have to be added at the same time if they need to iron out some kinks then do that but it’d be nice to see

what i think is about shield nerf is too much especially for guard brake, for monty or fullscalled shield should be 5 hit to guard brake, and still 3 regular shield. but will see, if shield op going to be useless again then okay
DX11 is the only graphic engine that works. In DX12 I still get stuttering and I have a 9800X3D and a 3090 and recently did a fresh install, still broke.
Got 200 fps ultra settings on vulkan and am now only getting 100 on dx11. dx12 doesn't even run on my pc, just insta crashes on startup, how tf am I supposed to play the game? probably for the better.
DX11 removal is by far the worst thing in the patch notes, DX12 even on a semi-decent pc is more often than not awful on siege

i believe during the world revel video they mentioned that we on console now can play the pc lobby with mouse and keyboard natively. Can you confirm this to us pls? I believe they said " mouse trap will be there to make sure console wont use the mouse and keyboard on the wrong pool!" i guess this means when we choose pc and console lobby we will have the ability to play m&k native. but if we go only console lobby this must be only controller.
