    @The Crafty Android Excellent work very inspirational, though I wonder...when working with the foam boards, wouldn't it be easier to have an alcohol lamp and use the flame to heat up a spoon to then cut through the holes of the designs of the windows and the concave areas? The hot spoon will melt through faster as it cuts away the foam and then all you need to do is smooth up the surface areas with either the sand paper or the dremel burs you use. You could also get a foam wire cutter or make a homemade version with thin metallic wire and a 9v battery, and that too could save you lots of time cutting the foam. Anyway, love your work on this Castle Grayskull, hope to see more, perhaps a Snake Mountain!

      Thank you so much for your support and input. Yes, those tools would definitely work well and make things easier for me. I didn’t want to spend any more money than I had to, so I used mostly what I had on hand as far as tools go. I will definitely consider some foam wire cutters in the future.👍👍

      @@thecraftyandroid3530 Always glad to share tips with awesome fellow custom builders as well as getting plenty cause that is how we learn. I love learning a lot from others too, which is the principle of art itself. Aside the hot wire foam cutters, an alcohol lamp is relatively cheap. I mean if possible you can buy one at a Dental supply shop, could cost no more than 2 bucks or so and the alcohol has to be 90% instead of the 70% rubbing kind. Thanks too for being so awesome and you definitely have my support.

    • @thecraftyandroid3530

    • @thecraftyandroid3530
      @thecraftyandroid3530  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks, man! I really appreciate it! To be honest, the talent is just lots of trial and error. As far as the tools, I use a lot of stuff from Harbor Freight and my local hobby stores. I get asked from many people what kind of paints I use, and they’re floored when I tell them I use the $1.50 craft paints from Hobby Lobby. Lol!

    I didn’t catch if you mentioned this, but I recommend with the wood glue you use “waterproof when dry” otherwise you will reactivate the glue when you go to paint.

    • @thecraftyandroid3530
      @thecraftyandroid3530  2 роки тому

      It’s waterproof when it dries. It’s possible to reactivate the glue, but the paint dries too quickly to reactivate it. So there’s no real worry there.

    i thought you might paint the cracks in black on the towers before using a sponge to paint the bricks? green without getting green paint in the cracks, also, what does the toilet paper do?

    • @thecraftyandroid3530
      @thecraftyandroid3530  2 роки тому

      I almost always save the painting for last. It’s the most satisfying part. I cover the painting in part 2. The toilet paper and wood glue method is simply to harden the outside of the foam. I stopped using that method and started using a much better one that I cover in part 2.
