The boys during the song are a perfect representation of the 3 types of church goers. One is actively engaged and knows the full lyrics, one doesn’t know/care what to do so he just copies others and moves his lips to fit in, and the third is just annoyed and wants the whole thing to be over.
Tbh, this whole routine feels like a brainwash that you would see cults implement in their routines. Though, more realistically, cults taking the ideas from churches, lul.
i will never get over how good of a physical comedian Charlie Day is. even minor shit like him aggressively smacking the basket away always manages to kill me.
This is the most realistic church scene I've ever witnessed. From the empty buffer pews at the front, the wooden echo and sound of pews creaking and books thumping, the guilt, the standing and sitting, the hymn, the "holy holy holy", the slow wandering to the exits after the realization that it's already over. Right back to my childhood in the Midwest. Sometimes Always Sunny is the realest show on TV.
@@evanpaul3968 Oh, a bunch of different things. I’ve never hear “On Eagles Wings” in a show/movie before, but churches sing it *constantly*. Also where the people were sitting (all spread out and more near the back), the kind of people there and how they were dressed, how many of them there were. It was just so exactly like the daily masses I used to go to regularly. Movies and TV often like to play up the ambience of churches, with flickering candles and old music and such. Maybe they sit down in the pew and a wise priest comes up and has spiritual wisdom to impart. But most of the time it’s exactly like it is in IASiP.
Nah, a real sociopath would observe people showing emotion so that they can learn to mimic them. Dennis genuinely is hoping that going to church will knock some real emotion into him
As a quick aside, if you ever wanna seriously feel something going into church, go into an eastern orthodox church. I'm an atheist, but god damn. The music is unlike anything I've heard at a church before, it's incredible. I recommend you all go to one at least once in your life.
At my beloved Grandmother's funeral, they played On Eagle's Wings as they brought her casket down the church aisle. I was absolutely broken hearted, but at the same time I couldn't stop thinking of this scene, so I had to mask my inappropriate, uncomfortable laughter by burying my head in my hands and pretending to sob. I'm sure if I could have explained it to her, she would have giggled.

I just resorted to wearing my earphones listening to music during a mess because my mom thought that it was a good idea to have me and my brother to be part of a mess that speak a different language. Time to confess this to a priest than go to heaven.
I love when mac says 'yous' in the song. My brother in law was a huge sunny fan. And when he died, I picked this song for his funeral because I knew he would get the reference.
I like how Charlie seems to think that this frankly not very impressive church is evidence of the Church having plenty of money. I mean, he's right, but it's very funny that he considers this place too ostentatious.
We were always those casual christians who had a cross on the mantle and prayed when shit was going wrong but never did anything more than that. This was basically my reaction when my "church every sunday" friends explained stuff to me
@Harry Waddington it's not just a few of them, very few of them have actually been exposed for it tho, I've literally never met or see a priest or preacher who isn't obviously a child molester
