Many thanks for your efforts with this nice build, i downloaded the v3 on thingiverese (though minus the claw for bucket and supporting arm) everthing was there, nicely designed, i opted to use an arduino promini rather than esp32, controlling via an ir remote 👌
I just got my V3 and I have it put together already. This project works great. I originally ordered the v2 but he had shipping issues. He sent me and email and offered to upgrade me to v3 at no cost. He even included a hand written note in the package. This is someone who clearly cares about his customers.
Just received my electronics kit in the mail and had it assembled and ready to test within 10 minutes of opening the package. What a fantastic experience for someone with amateur level experience in electronics like myself. What a great product, and a great model. Can't wait to try out more of your stuff!
I just got my miniskidi v3 parts and the included note was by far the coolest thing I've gotten with something I ordered online, your a youtuber but still hand wrote a note included with my order that right there shows commitment and I know it wasn't much but that put the biggest smile on my face and I haven't even begun to build my miniskidi. Thanks for your hard work and the wait was more than worth it.
Oh I’m so happy to hear you liked the note! I really appreciate you supporting the channel and funding the next build, so it’s the least I could do! I hope everything goes smoothly during assembly and don’t hesitate to reach out if you run into any issues.
Gained a sub. My youngest loves construction stuff and was losing his mind over this video, especially when you said excavator was next. I’m savvy with my bambu and fusion but your pcbway knowledge is out of my league. Again, great video and the lesson plan page is next level. You deserve a million subs.
6:49 The rattle is actually more realistic than you'd think. Real equipment quickly gets wallered right the fuck out as they run 'em hard and put 'em up wet on the jobsite. That slop is still tighter than it would be on a real skidsteer!
Love the video. Tune down the background music a tad bit in future videos🤙🏾 thanks. Been following this build since the beginning. Looking forward to mini excavators as well🤞🏾
Upgrade idea: Different PCB so you can youse the motor controller but instead of a phone a 2.4 gh receiver. But cool project and I am wating for your next videos.
Hello I am Flynt I am 11 years old. I really want to build your RC skid-steer V3.0 but I can not afford the electronics kit I was wondering if I can buy just the screws and the custom PCB board Thank you for considering this from Flynt in Australia. My mum tried to contact via your website but the phone number format wouldn’t work.
Hi Flynt, I’m happy to hear you want to build the skid steer! I currently haven’t set up any options for international shipping but I’m working on making a course that will take you step by step through how to order the PCB’s/parts. Keep checking on my website for updates, and hopefully we can get you a working skid steer here soon
For those who balk at the price of those battery cells, you can save some money by buying a bigger pack and sharing with friends (I've seen 8 packs for ~$40 that also take USB-C plugs which is probably more convenient than a USB-micro). Alternatively, you could get some regular 16340 cells, those usually come in a multi-pack that works out to about $4 per cell, with a USB charger block, and not having the charging circuitry in the cell gives you more capacity. Not sure what sort of low-voltage protection is built into those Fenix batteries, but if you get regular cells you'll have to keep an eye on that yourself. Either way I guess once you get below 2.5v per cell (so 5v total) everything will start to go wonky and that's still not *terrible* for Li-Ion cells.
Neat little thing! I'd actually be interested in adding one of these to my collection if it was adapted to use traditional RC components. I've got a Futaba 16IZ I'd prefer to use! And an Orlandoo M02 which would be a neat transporter alongside the trailer.
Is it possible for the controller to use two joysticks to operate it like a real machine? I assume it would just be a little bit of JavaScript required
Hey, not currently just because the cost of shipping and regulations. But I just opened a workshop on my website for people internationally that will take you step by step through ordering the pcb and all the other misc parts
It would've been cool to see these machines cooperate with each other in kinetic sand(I think that simulate dirt for small scale). To lift, dig and get some track marks 😎
@FalkoRichter I did not find the spec the professor used. I also did not look. I had a selection of motors on hand. I ended with 60 rpm motors that seem to work fine. I tried 100 150 300 rpm motors, and they all seem to struggle with turning. But I also am using some very cheap speed controllers.
Hi, first of all, thanks for all your hard work. my 3 y/o son really enjoys the Skidsteer, its his favorite toy by far. i did however, edit the code to be more maintainable, readable and and easier to add now features. I'll finish it and do some tidying up. I'd be very happy if you'll take a look as i think it could help you with future projects and its my way to give back a bit to some who i really appreciate. again, Thank you for you work:) Guy
I'm currently working on it as a thanks to ProffBoots:) i'll have it on git in the nest few days. hopefully, it will be adapted as it uses the original ps3 controls and is just a drop in code replacement
so the code is basically done. needs testing if your'e up for it:) as of now, it supports the ps3 controller, i can add many others if there demand for it:)
Hi, maybe I'm wrong but I can't find gerber files anywhere and the video description mentions it. Would it be possible to add it? Thanks a lot, great model
That obstacle course was hilarious! I've got heaps of brushed RC speed controllers sitting around and a new very capable transmitter, so I think I have to give this a go. How much does it weigh assembled? If I can get it under 150g I could put it into a combat arena....
Waiting for the tracks to finish printing, then I need to do the claw because I missed it wasn't on plate 2.. but I have almost everything else assembled. :)
Any chance we can get the code to allow bluetooth IP connections so we don't have to lose external networking when using the skiddie? .. I may look at the code myself, but my skills in Arduino programming are about as good as that soggy paper bag.
For the clips to hold on the bucket, it would be easier to remove if there was only a single clip. Also for things that need to flex, using more flexible materials tends to be better, PETG is better than PLA for clips and buckles.
I have a flysky NB4 ground transmitter and it has enough switches im sure I can run the skidi with but I have no clue how to run the motors. Im used to single motor setups for micro vehicles but not multi motor.
I have a new Bamboo A1 printer. Do I need to manually select where the supports go or will the plate print know this already? The bamboo lab shows three different plates with the parts already organized on them.
I really enjoyed assembling this model! But I'm having trouble managing it. If you download the sketch version for PS3 or bluepad32, it starts to behave inappropriately, the servos start to make a lot of noise and heat up, and the loader becomes very slow. But if you upload a sketch version where the control is via the browser, then everything is fine. Can you tell me what the problem might be? I really want to control it through the gamepad
Hey! Thinking of grabbing the kit to make for my son. Question.. Has any testing been done with sand or dirt? I am curious how resilient the design is in terms of stuff getting into gears etc. Thanks!
Are you only able to get the PCB via buying it from your site I get that you created it and I totally agree you should sell it but could you sell it seperately?
My main obstacle to this project is I'm afraid I won't have the knowledge for the electronics. I know nothing about RC devices and powering motors. Do you have guides for that?
hi, I bought a subscription to your projects, the electronics list indicates that 12V 100RPM motors are needed, but the link to the amazon example indicates 12V 1000RPM motors, which motors should I buy?
Lovin' the updated Mini Skiddy! You said the new motors can handle 12V, could ur electronics handle an 11.1V power source rather than this versions 7.4V?
I broke one of the N20 motors that came with the kit. Does anyone know the specs (e.g. RPM) of the motors contained in the kits? Or where to buy them? Thanks!
Add a comment below on what attachment you’d like to see made for the MiniSkidi.

Where can I get skids and the frame you have in your video?
A mini snowblower attachment would be super cool!!
Let me buy one!!
A tree
Or a gun

Bulldozer is a must as well!
Yeeeess i want forklift too @professorboots

Fenix also appear offer a 800mah 16340 cell with a USB-C port for a couple dollars more. Great projects, love seeing your updates!
the obstacle course made this a masterpiece. the swinging section was the best!!
The mini skidi is basically a good as it gets! Next up should be an excavator to dig up all my failed print scraps. love your work!
Found the gerber files! Just had to join the workshop! Thank you.
As I work in a warehouse, we are definitely building a life size obstacle run
Haha that would be awesome!

Might be a good idea to check out some LEGO tracks as they are cheap and made out of real rubber. Printing tracks might be a challenge for some users!
That sounds smart.

we could find a safe way for everyone to "throw in" on bulk order . maybe professor can help moderate
I am so gona build this once I have finished my hot wheels eco conversion! You should do one!
