The voice actor who did the voice for the pilot is Gary Owens. I wished that the North America DVD had Gary Owens doing the voice. They should have had it where you could choose who's voice you want to hear on the pilot. I'm going to try and watch the Gary Owens version. It sounds cool.
Okay, sorry about my earlier comments... I guess this proves that it's the official Australian DVD set voice more than anything else could (the only strange tning was the Australian episode chronology: Sleeping Gas, the 22nd episode produced, instead of Monster Lake, the 2nd episode produced; but never mind).
I didn't notice. I just remember that back when the show was on netflix and I got to this episode, there was no mention of the mustache, so I figured they must have cut the line or redubbed it.
Sounds great! Maybe I will buy them then... By the way, have you bought all three Australian box sets? I was wondering if the episode "Funny Money", where Gadget investigates a counterfeit operation led by a near-sighted MAD agent named Squint, is in any of them. Many other season one episodes are available as torrents on the web, but this particular ep (probably my favourite) is very hard to find...
There are actually three versions of that episode, I think: the original with the British voice, the syndicated one where he has his normal voice but there's an added line about his mustache, and a third version with his normal voice but no mustache line.
The only reason the moustache was removed after the first episode was to avoid being sued by MGM because they felt like he looked too similar to Inspector Clouseau
The camera spinning must go down as a great moment in youtube history, LOL. I'm also curious who provided the voice for this version of the pilot episode.
One more question of curiosity, by the way: On my American DVD editions, the beginning of each episode has the title added electronically on top of the screen (rather than showing the eps without titles, as they were originally broadcast on TV). Do the Australian DVD episodes have titles in them too, or are there only titles in the menus? I'm asking because I'm thinking about purchasing the Australian DVD sometime...
Just wanted to say that I hope my last questioning comment about the voice artist didn't offend you in any way... I do believe you now, I'm just so curious about who this British-sounding guy is. Please upload the credits if you get the time.
But now that you've proved your point, could you please also upload the end credits? I don't mean to nag, but as a devoted Gadget fan I would really, really like to see who spoke the Inspector's British voice in this very first episode.
The episodes on the Australian DVDs are as they were when released on TV...withOUT the electtonically added intros...
Holy UA-cam poop! I DO believe.
Thanks for that XD Brightens my day

I believe the second one is a Don Adams sound-alike.
