That Realm of Darkness system is genius! Not only does it give an amazing new environment that works canonically, but it also gives 358/2 Days players a good place to naturally grind up levels, since Days was considered a harder game. Though if KH2 level-ups are being used, it might overhaul the entire system entirely. Phenominal work. I never would have expected this.
Yeah, that's going to take a minimum of 5 years to complete if no really big problems arise to achieve some of his ideas. I wish him luck with that. Hopefully he can achieve it.

I'm hopeful, however I do have to be realistic, as you said this project is monumental, if he keeps up his current pace, Shinobi will finish remaking base days in 6 years (assuming that every 50 days are around the same playtime, which I can't know for sure since I still haven't played days, only watched the cutscenes), 6 years is a long time to develop burn out from any project, even if you're super passionate, so let's say 8 years, being generous I do hope this projects gets finished, a remake of days in kh2's engine would be mad impressive, but I do hope that Shinobi eventually is able to build a team for the project full of people as passionate like him willing to work on a passion project that will generate no monetary gain, because if Shinobi keeps working alone on this it might just turn into a sysyphean task My respect to Shinobi for what he was able to do so far, I hope the passion keeps burning for years to come, but I hopehe is also aware of how long this will take

Yes! I always tell my friends who either don’t know about KH or know about it and never played any of the games that if you don’t wanna play the games but know about the story to go and watch Everglow’s Timeline cause I absolutely love that he did that.
@@thewyldechild I love how Everglow tightened up the editing in certain places, Like when Roxas was arguing with Axel that he had the right to know the truth about Xion. Everglow’s edit shortens the part when Roxas says “Then why did-?” before Axel interrupts him by half a second, so it actually sounds like he’s being cut off. There originally was a slight pause between their lines.
I feel like a lot of the content this mod adds is something an actual remake would add, which is quite cool and impressive. When it comes to content I would have added to A hypothetical remake, I would have made the days in which Roxas was in A coma playable through Xion. It would be a really cool way to fit in extra worlds too.
This is the most ambitious mod I've ever seen of Kingdom Hearts 2- perhaps even the entire series. I don't even know if all of the listed bullet points are possible, but I'm in no rush to see the final product. Give the modder time to cook... it'll be worth the wait.

At this point the only down side of this is its the psx version and not the steam version. Im really exicted about this project. Cant wait to watch playthru or even try it myself. I keep trying to play days on my DS but i cant get into it. I love this story. Just cant deal with gaming on my 3ds haha

I doubt it because how completely different Coded is to KH2 or KH1; but maybe a PSP Hack of BBS into Coded could be a thing; granted I also don't know how fully possible modding the PSP version even is at this point. I really really REALLY ...hope they use the old DS musical intro cutscene somehow. That version flowed so much better than the HD version. That moment when cloaked Xemnas' voice changed into Utada's with the song was something I did NOT wanted to see!
The whole community of modders should be undertaking this project. Not just one person that just got into mods. That's waaay to ambitious. Honestly at this point, I'd rather see a 358/2 days remake with kh 3 graphics. Hopefully the modding community could get together for that.
Imma be honest - Kingdom Hearts 3 looks great, but I really prefer the cleaner, timeless look of the PS2 games. Obviously they're not as high in graphical fidelity, but they have so much more character in my opinion.
@@fearnach Yeah. KH3 looks amazing, but there's something about that style used all the way up to DDD that just hits right in a way KH3 can't. The same could even be said for the prerendered openings and endings, probably helped by the fact those were very few and far between and were designed to look the best they can instead of being a streamlined consistent use. It's a major reason why I'd prefer a Days and/or Re:coded remake if either ever happens to be consistent with that original style, also because I wouldn't really like the jarring jump back and forth in graphics between games when playing them in order with hypothetical DS remakes between the other titles. None of this to say I think KH3 is worse in any bad way, just that the original style is just as important and shouldn't be sidelined just because the series can increase the level of detail in everything compared to back then.

I always said I wished to explore more of the castle but seeing that theres heartless to fight if you want between RTC, got me hype. Of all the things that will come out of this, im hoping for the online support, I was a little sad that the panel system wouldn't be included but it still would allow for some interesting character builds or if things go better than expected, potentially custom missions. I'd be satisfied regardless cause this whole project has me very excited!

When Braig faceplanted in Agrabah and got dragged along behind Roxas, well, I like that. He deserves it. But seriously, I never got to play the original and this sounds so extra with everything that's being added, best of luck, Shinobi.
Shinobi should 100% make the Sora fights that end in the death of Organization members be like fighting player Sora. He has low health, but still has leaf bracer and healing items. If the player defeats Sora he stays down for a moment, but then gets up even stronger.
Personally I think the scope creep is going to hit this project hard. I really think he will need to recently cut something out and I think either the oblivion archive, the data days or the og mission mode will be cutted. I don't see a world where he can pull all of them out.
I wonder if they could port the battle cry lines for castle oblivion members from Chain of Memories, it's annoying how their data versions had no lines in KH2 Final Mix. Now that I think about it, is it possible to add voice lines by using AI generator? Like actual lines for the unvoiced cutscenes from DS Days that did not appear in the movie version. Edit: The idea of having to go through the realm of darkness and the option to explore it is really cool, lots of cool ideas are being added. Can't wait to see what more the modder planned in the future. One thing I wish it could be possible is the ability to summon the nobodies that Roxas commands.. I mean, he has an army of teh Samurai nobodies under his control and yet he never call them in days.
I have no idea if anyone is OK with this idea, but I feel like something like this would be perfect for using A.I. voices. All of those text box cutscene could be dubbed by A.I. With how fast it's developing, I feel like it would work.

@@TheAbsol7448 you can simply emulate the ps2 and play it that way, it’s the intended way to play the mod anyway. Using a real ps2 is just an option. And when it’s done the mod creator said they’d be porting it to the pc version

This isn't a just a mod it's a passion project. Shinobi went above and beyond, that entire realm of darkness section, no words, man. No words.

Neither scene is massive, but both versions of BBS have mods that add more bosses to the game.

I don't think that was an anti-saix, it was just Saix trying to stop Roxas from leaving.
There’s an Anti-Saïx version of that fight in Mission Mode. It’s not canon to the story but it is in the game.
