- Decided to take a quick look at the new Ninji speedrun level, called Cat Mario Dash. It definitely isn't as fun to grind compared to the Link one, but I still wanted to get Top 100 in the world.

This ninji isn't actually that hard. I have 30,9 but haven't played that long. The percentage doesn't say much because most people only play it for the costume.
@@salj.5459 It's 0.068% for 68th place with 100k people, tho I later realise it's panga who made the mistake first and that could just be a reference to that. So if that's what you mean that's why I deleted my comment.

Ngl I’m not sure why I made that comment last year, much regret. PBs aren’t a huge deal in the grand scheme of things; it’s fun to go for personal best but not a whole lot of judgement can be had for an arbitrary number that only has meaning within the realm of SMM2 Ninji Speedruns. If it was an enjoyable experience, that’s all the really matters yea? If you think you can do better, go for it! But it’s not an end-all-be-all 😅

Why did he only get one-ups sometimes when diving through the enemys at the end
When he hits 2 parts of each pokey he gets one-ups, when he only hits 1 part of each pokey, he doesnt get the one-ups

45 minutes to go from 36.5 to 35.9. my hands were shaking. Fun level though! I'll try to break sub 35 this weekend
He's been doing kaizo for years; he has a bit more practice than most :p
lol. you pretty much tied my best time for this on your second try(granted, I only spent like 10 or 15 minutes playing it, but still.)
you also took a different route than I did and gave me a few ideas to shave time off if I try this s peedrun again. I actually kind of like this one. even more than the others(probably because I suck and this is a much more straightforward level then some of the others.) these ninji speedruns are pretty cool though. good job Nintendo.

Thank you thank you! Your Zelda ninji run helped me get gold because I had no idea how to. This one I'm stuck at 35 seconds so I need help. Also the 10-Coin of Deep Woods is the worst ninji speed run ever.

@@thealmightyscooobb3072 39 is still awesome! I was able to lower my time to 33.415 (thanks Panga) because I optimized the section example 4:26 - 4:48. I think that's an important part.

In fairness, it is not unreasonable for someone unitiated into statistics to assume skew is determined by peak of the distribution curve and not the outliers. Still incorrect though.

The graph is “Skewed Left.” It indicates that there is some factor causing a shift away from the left. (The factor is that not all players are taking the same number of turns in the challenge). I bet if everyone only took 1 chance, the graph would look more “normal” or evenly distributed. Source: Took Medical Statistics last year.
Also, probably other factors, like amount of playtime of the player-base, and ninji challenges disproportionately drawing in higher-skilled players.

fair lore I think you got that mixed up. There is a limit on time getting bigger (cannot be longer than the amount of time in the level) but none on the time getting lower. Unless I got that mixed up
@@salj.5459 The Upper limit of couse exists, with the ammount of seconds you have before you die, but the Range is much farther from the averarge than the lower limit, which is the fastest possible time this level can be beaten.
Its not possible to Beat this level in 15 Seconds, so 15 Seconds is below the lower limit of this level.

When he already surpassed your record you worked really hard for at the 7 min mark.
I never played this but I have questions.
1. What are these two big blue boxes for?
2. Why is he never trying the top route after getting the key. It doesn't look like he has to get through the tubes but rather can use the path on top of them. Then he can cut the jump from lower tube exit to the door.
3. I thought about losing the power up on the first flower and use the short time of invulnerability to go straight through the second one. There is another power up in the level right before the last stage. But watching the timer in slow mo, it only appears to stop when getting a power up. Am I mistaken here? Is the timer really stopping during the animation or is it only show to stop to then jump up to the real time (running in the background) when the animation of getting the power up is finished?

the only ways i can see to optimize (maybe anyway, i don't have the game to test it so sorry if these ideas are stupid or have been tested x_x) are as follows
~double wall jump instead of wall climb right in the beginning to save the "getting up" animation from diving
~maybe 2 quick small dives in the key room instead of one big boi?
And then pretty much just not bonking on corners. Not saying these suggestions are easy, obvie, but that's about all I got :p

The four jumps starting at 32:00 should all be dives. That alone will probably get you WR. Drove me nuts to watch you just do three slow jumps and one dive basically the whole run on that section. Why only one fast dive? Should be four fast dives. Also, the jump between the Parana plants could be a dive to squeeze a tiny bit. And probably not a good idea to dive/slide when immediately exiting the first pipe.
Ceiling is too low for dives at low speeds, sliding is the fastest way to start moving which is worth it assuming you can cancel the end lag with a boost pad or something
Toadette is objectively the best character. You can't argue with science.

You could save time with the top pipe, the open ceiling allows you to double jump then pounce all the way down
