I miss riding the belts out-by after fore shift and coming up in to bright sunlight on a summers morning, especially if the gardener had just cut the grass verges around the colliery. showering and walking home up the railway line through the fields as the sun bunt off the mist on the meadows with pit pony's in. simple pleasure now gone for ever. I grew up with that scene and worked in that scene. never thought the pit would be park with flowers and the steam railway line a cycle track for Lycra wearing men. always had push bikes along them lines they didn't cost £1000s . more often free to good home. the pit heap is a "land sculpture" now. the pond drained as it was dangerous. the burn is in a pipe. where to kids go rafting and collecting frog spawn & tadpoles nowa days
