Brasov: Best City in Romania?

- I got a chance to spend a couple of days in the fantastic city of Brasov, Romania. After seeing The Black Church, riding the cable car to the top of Tampa Mountain and exploring all of the remnants of the defense system for the city, I wonder if there is a better place to visit in the entire country.
Take a look and see what you think. If there is a better place, please let me know. I will want to go there, for sure!

Having retired in 2023, I now travel full-time, seeing places all around the world. My idea for UA-cam is to make the videos more about the places and people along the way, than about me. I hope that the experience for you is both entertaining and educational. Perhaps you will come away from my channel with ideas about places you would like to visit or be inspired to forge your own way.
I travel slowly, spending four or five weeks in each destination. Hopefully, that will allow me to go beyond the surface to find the essence of each location. By the end of 2024, I will have visited 14 countries and five of the seven continents. Come along for the journey!
I love Brasov! My wife grew up there and we have a family flat about a 10 minute walk from the city square/Black Church. We always get a beer or cappuccino in the square and people watch. We are moving there full-time in 3 years and have started investing in real estate already.
(Edit: the Black Church still has bullet holes from the revolution!)
Brasov is definitely one of those places where it would be wonderful to live. I wish you well in making a new home for yourself there.

Wanted to send you a thanks for your Romania videos. I just got back from Romania and your videos were really helpful when I was researching the country. I appreciate the amount of thought you put into your videos. When I am able to travel, I love to learn about the people, history, and culture of my destinations. Your videos seem to convey that same type of curiosity. When I travel with that mindset, I feel like I get so much more out of it than just seeing the sites.

За съжаление по времето на Чаушеску то е било принудено да напусне и сега има много малко от него. It's a well maintained, clean, safe city. And that's because of Romanians, not the Germans.

There are no perfect places because people have such different criteria, tastes and cultural perceptions, and I think that a city can be compared to music, some vibrate more emotionally to it, others less.
As a Romanian, I don't know if Brașov is the best, but it's definitely a remarkable one. Among the top five obviously, leaving aside the capital, Bucharest... which enters a different vibe.

Yes, Different cities will resonate with different people. Wondering if Brasov is the best city in Romania then, is a very individualized matter. The idea is to get people thinking!

It's pronounced Brașov, but its written Sibiu.
What’s the point of that shitty graffiti?! And why, neither the local council, nor the locals don’t do anything about it?!
There is no way that I can defend it.
I used to think the same way, but I came to the conclusion that, like it or not, it is a form of expression. Over the years i read more about graffiti movement and I think I came to understand it better. Once the country liberated itself of communism, there was an explosion of graffiti everywhere, now it is slowly coming under control. There are some graffiti definitely valuable and worth seeing.
