I completely agree with most of what you said. Grimgar is an amazing Isekai, and i wish the format was more common. One of the only Isekais where the main characters are not special, or unique. They're just ordinary people trying to survive in a world thats unforgiving and dangerous. It's the perfect depiction of what would actually happen if any of us got transported to another world, and lets be real, most of us would die in less than a week. In Grimgar they had to work hard to survive, and get stronger, just to be able to defeat a 'simple goblin'. None of them were OP or had any special powers just because they are the protagonist. Like you said, it just felt... real. Im not sure i could with 100% certainty say its 'the best' isekai, there's plenty of others that are good in their own way. But its definitely one of my all time favorites, and one of the only isekais that actually left a lasting impression on me. Edit: Forgot to mention, between all the hardships and struggles of combat, one of the best parts in my opinion was how cozy and relaxing the 'slice of life' parts felt. Kinda ties in with what you said, the way the conversations felt natural, but also how the interactions and relationships between the characters felt natural. It might sound cliché to say, but the 'character development' was really good.
Okay I have watched it and its certainly the most realistic and well balanced but it's nowhere near the "best" isekai Don't take me wrong this is really good I am currently waiting for S2 but competition is just too much Like Rezero, Tensura,Mushuko tensei,Tbate,Toaru Honorable mention Overlord,Konosuba, Tanya is evil the list goes on
Grimgar is great and definitly stands out for all the reasons you mentioned. If there were to be a second season i'd definitly watch it. Still, subjectively, i enjoyed watching Mushoku Tensei and Re:Zero more. They strike a better balance between realistic character struggels and epic shit happening.
As a huge Grimgar fan that read all the novels released so far, I think it's definitely really good, but the title for me would go for Ascendance of a Bookworm. Grimgar has a stronger start, which is what most people are familiar with, but Bookworm just keeps getting better and more complex as it goes along, like a true (and good) fantasy series, not just for an isekai. Grimgar, however, does something very few isekai attempt to do. It fully embraces and utilize the idea of going to other worlds.
sadly doesn't feel like an isekai since they forget everything from before they appear there so they might as well be fresh new natives, not that it takes away from how scary fantasy world would be
check out re:zero it might even change your opinion i have seen a ton of anime as i watched it before it got popular but if i had to say one show that would dominate any other show in every ascept it would have to be re:zero.
Stupid teen drama is absolutely killing any joy I get from the world-building. I swear half of the story is just someone crying for plot reasons. Being absolutely clueless and unable to plan ≠ realistic.
Grimgar is one of my all time favorites. I also agree its better than Overlord, Mushoku and Slime. I genuinely dont enjoy those because of how generic and tropey they are. However, have you seen Eminence in Shadow? It's become one of my favorite pieces of media, in general, of all time. Top 10. Where grimgar does fantasy different and great, Eminence dives into the tropes (sometimes largely in parody) while being completely dead serious about it. They fully commit to doing the tropes so well with such a hilariously performative main character. I know its not for everyone, but give it a shot and I promise you'll be entertained regardless of if it reaches your favorite list. I think grimgar does a great job of viewing a realistic exploration of fantasy. I so badly wish we got more of it. Although I heard the story gets wacky after what was animated. While it may not seem serious at first, the world is serious to everyone but the MC and you get to see some genuinely good character growth from many different characters.
Eminence in shadow is up there for me, it is really enjoyable and gives me a good laugh I haven’t seen the anime tho I have only read the manga. But I still think Grimgar is my number 1. But I do love how much Eminence in shadow leans into the tropes to a ridiculous degree.
@@Emetium Ah, I enjoyed the manga but having jumped between it, the dub/sub and book, I'm enjoying all the intricacies of the world and story. I find it to have a lot going on beyond the humor. If you go into the anime already knowing whats up I wonder what all you would catch.
But thats the charm of the anime, it simbolizes that they dont belong there, like they are 3d on 2d, and it fells wrong because it is supposed to fell wrong
I'm a huge fan of the light novel. I can't say if it's good or bad but I loved the anime and loved the light novels. Though I admit I only read like 14 and haven't caught back up. I am looking forward to rereading the series again next month.
i freaking love this anime. still waiting for season 2. hopefully
i was watching this show a couple of years back and never finished it but you just gave me the motivation to pick it back up.
I hope you enjoy it
It's literally my favorite anime. Thank you for this video
You have great taste ever since I watched it, it has remained as one of my favourites.

Yeah that's my favorite part that they are just ordinary people
mannnnn now i got to add another series, ill be back. You know what I will be your 100th subscriber
Thank you very much, I hope you enjoy it
@@Emetium 105th thx for the suggestion

this was an amazing anime i found it randomly and it was awesome
Okay I have watched it and its certainly the most realistic and well balanced but it's nowhere near the "best" isekai

Like Rezero, Tensura,Mushuko tensei,Tbate,Toaru

I’m so glad you mentioned Tanya the evil I haven’t thought about that show in ages that is a top tier isekai.
I agree!
nah fam
redo of healer is best isekai
don't let this HR department make you believe other wise
this has always been one of my favorites and its great that every few months i see a new video about how great it is.

I agree that bookworm is amazing but something about the world of Grimgar drew me in like no other isekai that’s why for me Grimgar is the greatest
Grimgar had a great start but got so fuckin cringe as the volumes went on. Also no real character growth happens, haruhiro just kinda stays a bitch
Since u mentioned Overlord among ur greatest I know we have similar tastes. Stoped the video at 1:38, I'll come back after I watch it.
Cool I hope you enjoy it
Im with you, I will always love Isekai no matter how much trash is out there lol.
literally only clicked on the video to type this comment, and thats to say hes right, grimgar is one of the best isekai ever
Thank you
You've never seen kiba then...😅
I am unfortunately not a light novel reader although I have heard they are excellent.
wrong but also right
Damn good series
Facts
Riven is the best Isekai, and it's a videogame from 1997.
Wait, so you're telling me that there's an isekai where the reincarnation isn't mc's entire personality? Hell yeah 🔥
You should give it a watch you won’t regret it
it should have got a second season
That's what I'm saying
sadly doesn't feel like an isekai since they forget everything from before they appear there so they might as well be fresh new natives, not that it takes away from how scary fantasy world would be
Sorry bro, you're just wrong, Mushoku is still the goat. Thanks for the recommendation anyway finished watchin in a sitting haha
Edit: Grammar
Haha fair enough I’m glad you gave it a shot

Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon?
