Be sure to share with us your favourite summer holiday activities. As its now the summer holidays there will only be one video a week. Every Sunday. :)
I’m a little late to the party on this one, lol! One of my favourite activities is going to the art museum! I live near Kansas City, so we go to the Nelson Atkins (not sure I spelled the name correctly, oh well!) art museum. It’s really accessible in there. There’s either ramps to get up that aren’t too too steep, or there are elevators available if there aren’t any ramps. I usually take a friend or my boyfriend and I go on dates there because it is a big museum with lots to see and I get tired after a while. The museum also has wheelchairs (manual and electric) for rent if someone needed it. Last I checked it was $5 for a manual and $10 for an electric for a whole day visit.
Love this video. A few ideas Daisy may like which works when I am low on spoons; pebble painting and hunting (I'm sure you have heard of this phase!) We also signed up for the Summer Reading challenge at the library but also took out some audio nooks so if I need to lie down the kids can go into their rooms with their CD players for 40 mins. I have just put up a video this morning of a few other things on my channel 😊
Oh fab ill go and have a look. Ah yes pebble paining is a lovely idea. We do the summer reading changed too (well done for reminding me.) Although she's not a keen reader. But audio books are a good idea. xx
Like the lighting. The angelic Gem and the evil Gem with a tan. Husband seems to like the bounce park too. They didn’t have those when I could walk. Would love to jump.
Whisper Playz yes the children do. But the adults get no break. The adults get zero maternity leave, and honestly I’ve worked more than full time since 2004, with only one, one-week vacation, in all this time, and now I’m forced to work four jobs to make ends meet. My son is in a wheelchair, I’m not. But it’s him and me, we are a pair, so finding accessible parks, businesses, etc. is challenging, and if he can’t go anywhere, I don’t go either. So I’m interested in this channel for ideas. But, yes you are right, the children here get long summer holidays. After childhood though, here in the states, we are on our own, and it seems only the very rich take any vacations. I have traveled in my lifetime. The UK is one of my favorites. However, I don’t plan to retire, and I am working exceedingly hard. I had only one week off before my son’s birth, and two after because that was all I could afford to take off at the time. It was exhausting and very stressful not to have more family time. We really should have maternity leave here. And paid, one week vacations every year for the adults, too.
Dear Gem, my kids are grown up now, age 26 and 29. But when they were younger and had 6 weeks off of school and I had holidays from work either, we loved going to the movies or went to a theme park (accessible also), did cooking together, cause when I was working they had to try cooking stuff on their own! Or we did "window color", which is liquid plastic to paint on foil and when its dry you stick it onto a window. So much fun! And they loved going to public swimming pools as well, inside or outside! My daughter has three kids, age 1,3 and 5 and she is terribly good in finding activities for them on rainy days! She is coloring with them, they watch some movies, they built tents otút of cardigans and pillows or they dress up like princess or cowboys or so. Very funny. But there are days where she doesn't find any activity and it is just boring. that is ok too. Kids need to learn that there can't be entertainment all day long and that they find something on their onw. Have agreat sunday! sincerely Britta
Here in northern Ireland the kids in my sons school get 9 weeks off lol. Great ideas 😊 my son and I go to the swimmers a ton as we both love it. I have arthritis in my spin and hips and fibromialgia so it helps a bit when I'm in the water. We luv the beach of course. Go around the nature walk is another favorite as my little man loves to paddle in the river there, some of the things we do indoors are, making our own playdoh slime ect. Crafty things and xbox time. Plus movie time 😊enjoy your summer 😊
@@sophiecrowleymusic2583 I think it started with the " social battery " idea but it's reached to chronic illness. Battery Theory is similar to spoon theory but is more of a, " I have a certain amount of energy & it wares down through the day. Certian things ware it out faster. And eventually you need to recharge " 🤔 honestly I relate.

Dobble is called Spot It in the US, in case anyone is interested. Love that game! They've made themed tins for various sports teams as well.
ahhh amazing thanks so much. over 50% of my subbies are in the US so I always try and find the US equivalent. xxx
