    I think many of us who have gone to funerals of close loved ones felt it when bilbo was taking those deep breaths trying not to bust out sobbing. Many of us have had to do the same exact thing to try and keep ourselves from losing it at a funeral. It gets me every time seeing that has it shows just how much he cared for Thorin.

      Because that wasn’t important? I mean 60 years pass and we enter Lord of the Rings, without the fact of a mention that Dain became King and even that is barely a footnote.
      Heck in the movies it’s not even mentioned that the skeleton Gandalf pulls the book from was from Ori.

      I was rewatching the movies and I thought I had made it up in my head or something because it's no longer in the movies. I feel like this was indeed an important part for those who didn't read the book so they would have an answer. While the Battle of Dale is not given much cadence in LOTR, it is very VERY briefly mentioned when Gimli expresses his desire to have dwarves at the battle. Legolas follows up with "I fear war is already marching upon their own lands ". Of course this is only in the extended addition. Also, I just realized this was posted a year ago but here I am

I remember being in elementary school waiting for these movies to come out and get the tickets to the premiere moths before it would come out. The unique title of “King under the mountain” and the dwarven city of Erebor just always made me feel something so different yet similar to LOTR.

    Thorin was right to be cautious and suspicious of everyone. In the end he let his guard down just to be a good guy, and he ended up dead. This isn't what many want to hear but I believe it's true.
    Gandalf pushed for the whole quest and does not care who lives or dies as long as the dwarfes take the mountain; at the end he survived and got what he wanted.

    • @M4Studios
      @M4Studios  3 роки тому +23

      Thats not an entirely true analysis - for one, Gandalf did care about their lives, especially bilbo (being so out of his element). Remember when gandalf confronts Thorin at the front gate demanding him not to harm Bilbo (both in movie and book). Then, Gandalf helps the company many times, from the trolls, guiding them where to go, giving advice

    • @aminiqbal4907
      @aminiqbal4907 2 роки тому +3

      Um Gandalf pushed them to do what was right. Had he not claimed his birthright it would've ended badly for not just the dwarves who were already being hunted particularily Thorin himself but many near that mountain in middle earth. I think the blame should be put on thranduil, jewels that he may have gotten anyway wasn't a reason to attack one another spending both Dwarven and Elven blood when the main enemy that did the absolute worst to both was minutes away from showing up. He should've heeded Gandalfs word and sat there in his drunkness. A hundred years is a mere blink of an eye in the life of an elf and hour is far less. I actually laughed when he saw all the dead around him and said too much of his kin's blood has been spent and he was taking his army back. You kidding me right now? Had you not shot arrows at dains army and him not using his tech to turn those arrows into mulch and then attack and kill one another, there would've been more of each fighting the real enemy and less dead which is before he tells Gandalf that he's taking his army back.

    • @aminiqbal4907
      @aminiqbal4907 2 роки тому +3

      He survived but azog died and his son as well. The dragon was killed and the one gateway into angmar to was shut. Placing orcrist with him is perhaps one of the best ideas because whenever orcs were near it glowed allowing his people early intelligence when their enemies were near and for them to have the advantage unless if they became cowardly or something like dragon sickness set in meaning i domt give a shit about anyone or anything even to the poiint of being suspicious of his own family members like kili and fili as he just bathed and went mad about the arkenstone and all the gold in the mountain. Thorin didn't just die in vain, his father was driven Mad by sauron and his minions and azog literally beheaded his grandfather in front of him. He also old which I just found out today. Dwarves live longer than men.

      In my edit I have a shot of Bard reacting to Thorin charging out of Erebor, I think Bard realizes the change and sacrifice Thorin has made when he decides to fight/kill Azog which is respectable. Also, I am sure he’s reacting to other emotions since it’s a huge moment in middle earth, they finally can relax smaug is dead orcs are dead dale and erebor are back and it’s time to pay respects/celebrate. But other than that you are fight 🥸 Bro shouldn’t be sad about thorin
