Glory to God! So much respect and gratitude to both these men of God.
Sculptures such as the Statues that we use in the West are a great instrument by which the faithful have their minds and hearts lifted to the Lord in prayer. I greatly love iconography and feel deprived that we don’t have more of them in the Latin Rite Catholic Church but do not think any less of our religious statues of Christ or His holy Mother or of the Saints simply because sculptures are reminiscent of past pagan Greek history. Simply a ridiculous argument to make. Both Statues, paintings and Icons are a beautiful conduit by which prayer is possible, nourished and aesthetically pleasing to the soul whose heart is humbly seeking God in prayer.

Would it be right to say that instead of “absolute iconoclasm”, one should refer this to as a further transcendence and raising of the mind into the one true and real icon, our Lord Jesus Christ?
I know this is the wrong video. I'm looking for help. Recently watched a video with fr josiah were he made a statement to the effect of "as parent, you do get to go to church for you, your time will come". This same video referenced another Fr who, historically would welcome the 5th child Into a home, telling the parents they had become martyrs. I'm looking for this video. If anyone can help
There always seems to be something off with Fr. Maximos' audio. Is his microphone faulty?
Why do you not believe in Confession, Purgatory and hell???
Living trees have their own faces -- not human faces, of course, but a manner of interface with the rest of the world, that we can interface with, too, via our own faces -- "All over the world the faces of living ones are alike," as Black Elk said -- and these faces are the faces that God the Father gave them. And so when we cut those trees down and laminate some other faces on them and sell them on Ancient Faith or whatever, then buy them, put them on the wall, and talk in their direction -- isn't that basically the kind of falsifying simulation of reality that the Hebrew prophets so strongly condemned? (I'm not being sarcastic or cynical; this is an actual question I have -- struggling with Orthodoxy, after many years, and finding myself only wanting to be among trees, where it's peaceful, and getting painfully overstimulated by the barrage of artificial faces in church)
Is not one doing the same thing when we turn the trees into houses? And are not houses but icons of our true home in heaven?
@@minasoliman Kind of; and in general, as priest-kings of Earth, we transform creation into Eden--or, we're supposed to, anyway. But I don't talk to my house when I pray. I don't paint another face on it and talk to that face.

You need to allow the mystery to be a mystery. When you over analyze, you then question many other things. How is bread and wine true body and true blood of Christ? How is my skin not merely organic material of some animal?
So, the representation of the wood, still matters in a mystical sense. I’m not praying to wood and paint. I’m praying to Christ who became created matter that I may be elevated to His uncreated reality.

Only Jesus can save you. No saint can do that.
