There back!! Man I miss The Last Kingdom reactions! 😭 I love this show so bad. Man what a hell of a first episode. I hate that this show doesn't get enough credit. Like its a phenomenal show and a underrated show.
1:57 that woman that you said was cool is a singer called Eivør Pálsdóttir and she’s on most of the shows soundtrack❤️
That's what I was coming to the comments to say!! Eivør's voice is such an integral part of this show, from the theme song to the entire soundtrack!
Yay! Destiny is All! This season is amazing
I'm pretty sure the movie is not necessarily going to be a sequel, but more of an explanation of what happens next story-wise
You: "Who is thaaat?😍"
Uhtred: "Aethelstan!"
You: *surprised pikachu face*
DESTINY IS ALL
Glad to have you back Imon! And you're 100% The Last Kingdom and Mr Robot are so underrated!
Very happy you lovelies are reacting to my favorite show again for this the last season. Season 5 does not disappoint, going out on a huge high note.
There is a stand-alone movie coming which just wrapped today, and finishes out the book series on which the show is based
OMGGGG GUYSSS!!!! I swear i have binge watched all of your reactions to TLK these past weeks and I was waiting for THISSS!!!! I love your reaction so much!!! Also, I am so obsessed with this series, it's very concerning. :)))
I have really looked forward to seeing you guys react to this season, the quality of this season definitely felt like a step up from previous ones.
So glad you guys are back on this one we missed your last kingdom reactions 👌🏻😉😎
Ahh I’m so excited! As soon as I finished season 5 I was eagerly waiting for you guys to react! Thank you for sharing with us 💙
My fave TLK reactors are back!! Love your reaction and you guys are definitely in for a ride, this season is so incredible and intense!!
I've missed Abi's beautiful smile omggg, the way her eyes light up 😍😍😍
I was waiting for this so damn long. i thought you guys wouldn't do it or forgot about it.
Me and my wife have been waiting for this one...It's so good to see y'all enjoy the thirst lol
I’ll tell you this season was my favourite by far. Finale seasons usually drop the ball, but this both had me smiling, crying, screaming and laughing. The show writers did a great job and I can’t wait for the movie.
YOU ARE BOTH BACK
Viking, and last of kingdom are definitely one of favourite tv shows of all time even tho they aren’t historically accurate but still very good.
TLK is much more based in true history than Vikings.
That woman in 2:02 is actually the singer from the opening. Eivør her name! ❣️
She's my favorite artist
I just want y’all to know I paused my Outlander mid episode when your reaction came out. It’s great to have you back guys. And unfortunately, this is the Final season but there will still be a TLK MOVIE that they are currently filming. And they shoot mostly in Budapest.
Even the Iceland part is from Budapest.
yeah if im correct almost the entire show is shot in hungary
human sacrifices among the norse was also done at funerals for great chieftains and leaders usually the most beautiful slave girl would be sacrificed so that she might accompany him into Valhalla the afterlife
It’s so good to see my Queens reacting to my favorite show, enjoy the beautiful journey. This show touched my heart, I’ll never forget it.
Hey, Imon and Abi! I just finished the fifth season and it's a roller-coaster! Very emotional finale! I can't wait to see your reactions!
Father Benedict has a basis in fact. 200 years earlier, in the AD 700's, there was a North African cleric who traveled to Europe, served as abbot in a Naples monastery before traveling to England as an appointee of the Pope to serve as abbot of a monastery in Canterbury. He is known as Saint Adrian, the monastery was St. Augustine's and he is buried on the grounds. His features were probably more Semitic than sub-Saharan African and he's in the wrong century but that's why an actor of color was selected.
Although it's not glaringly obvious, there are a sprinkling of black and Asian extras as token background players throughout the season. It's not distracting because the focus is on the speaking roles but I was irritated by this historically inaccurate PC move. None of the earlier seasons had such inclusion nor needed it. It yanks you out of the moment! I'm sure the production was pressured to diversify the cast for optics and they found a way to do it that was the least intrusive possible. At least, it's not as bad as what they did on "Valhalla" by gender- and race-bending a historical figure! Lol. I would be enthralled by a show with an all-black cast set in the 14th-century Mali Empire about Mansa Musa and Ibn Battuta but, until someone has the brass to make that show, I would rather no one screw with the shows I like. The conceit of the Cornwell novels is that Utrech was the shaper of English history. That's the fanciful leap I came to see!
It was also cool to add the hearing-challenged servant but they should have come up with a rudimentary form of signing rather than whatever standardized system they have in the UK. It's more interesting to show how stuff like that evolves from crude basics.
I love the show. It's underrated, moving and exciting. I know it's not a historical document and they're speaking modern English. I also believe in more diversity. When adapting classic works in a stylized manner like the recent Joel Coen "MacBeth" with its towering performance by Denzel as the titular character or the wildly multi-cultural "David Copperfield" with Dev Patel as the titular character, this is a necessity to provide everyone an opportunity to participate. You can't be anachronistic when setting something in a realistic rendering of a period. Female George Washington and cell phones in Ancient Rome might exist in the Multiverse but not in this universe.
im excited for Abi's fist "WIN-CHESS-TAH" :)
babes! so glad you’re back! your tlk reactions are by far the best :’) i so appreciate your attention to detail and thoughtful analysis. ive tried to get my family and friends into it but no one bites so its like watching with friends ♥️♥️ cant wait for the other reactions. thanks as always! (and ur not the only one crushing on Harry Gilby haha)
Also FYI Rolo the brother of Ragnar was the founder of Normandy. It was really a Norman invention to use what was called The Serpent's tale or the chain that blocked ships as well as the dragons teeth which were spikes that were placed so that the current would push you into them.
YASSsSssss! You two are my favorite Last Kingdom reactors, I go back and watch your thirst reaction to the first episode if I need a laugh because it is so hilarious. I’ve tried to take my time and I did pretty well, on episode 6 of the new season. My restraint is commendable! But will probs finish this weekend, it’s getting harder and harder to stop !
Look forward to your reactions!!!!!!
Imo the best season thus far. Can't wait for you ladies to watch it all and feel the feels 🥲
i'm so so excited to watch you react to this season!!!
I like the combination Dane-Saxon names, I wonder if that was actually a thing
This si gonna be a hell of a ride. I finished it the day it aired lmao. But wow. Got me crying a few times
Thank you for these. You're the best reactors for this show.
It's been about 7-8 years I think
Aethelstan was around 9-10 last season. So he's around 18 now
Sexy boiii 😉
Season 5 is so amazing and full of feels, prepare to cry.
Oh, I was waiting for this! Yaaay!
oh how i've been waiting for this!!
It was filmed in Hungary just outside of Budapest.
Welcome back! ❤The triggered ladies have returned! ;) This season is awesome and yesterday I thought about you guys after an episode of TLK and thought "whatever happened to them? I hope my favorite TLK reactors will review this season!". MANY awesome episodes and heartbreaks are waiting for you. Destiny is All!
We're back hey ladies I've missed you too
It really was a good series.. some episodes feel so packed, an episode 4 in a season will feel like the finale..
I have some critiques for this season but it was the last one, I’m sure they packed stuff in and covid had to mess with stuff.
I will say I love how some characters just don’t age.. Uthred should be like 50..at least lol
28:00 Huh. Don't know if that's how it happens in the books, but this is actually historically inaccurate. See, at this point, the Anglo-Saxons still had marital separation which was called "setting aside" the spouse, basically repudiation (it was always the husband setting aside the wife). This was reprimanded by the Church since in Catholic tradition marriage is eternal once consummated and can only be dissolved through annulment, aka saying the marriage was never legally valid. That can basically only happen if you share parentage with your spouse, and thus was a very common excuse for medieval monarchs who were all cousins. But the Church wasn't strong enough to enforce this in England until like the 11th-12th centuries.
Anyway, bottom line: the real historical Edward actually did "set aside" his first wife Ecgwynn (Aethelstan's mother) and Aelfflaed (his wife in the episode) herself.
It is true both many brothers can’t Thrive together
Been watching this channel since they started last kingdom....sidenote, Iman, good lawd that woman fine 😁
YEEEEESSSS!!!! I've been waiting for this!
Hope yall enjoy s5 as much as I did 🙃
❤#thelastkingdom
Athelstan was the first king of England, uniting the kingdoms, hence the name United Kingdom.
No. He united the saxon kingdoms into England. He didn't create the United Kingdom. Lol
I didn't say that did I lol I said hence the name the United Kingdom, get a life instead of looking for UA-cam comments to try to correct, sado
Moron
Athelstan united Wessex, Mercia, Northumbria and East Anglia to create England. The United Kingdom is England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland created in 1707 by the Acts of Union.
I cried for Uthred's son here. No good painkillers back in the day too
I'm going to watch it thanks for the recommendation
Such a great show!
Never clicked like so Quickly
There is no way Uhtred is 60 in this he still looks 30
I believe the show is filmed on location in Romania.
Y'all would LOVE Outlander!
i hope y’all watch & react to ‘Vikings Valhalla’ to its good asf & it’s getting a season 2 & 3 already .
Rewatch Vinland Saga in the German dub with English subtitles. It's amazing. I don't even speak German, but it's the closest language to what they would have actually been speaking that's available. And the voice actors do a really good job.
If you'd told me in season 1 or 2 (or even 3 for that matter) how much I would hate Brida by season 5, I would have called you a liar...
Thank you for the great reaction videos
Let's gooooooo 😍😍🔥🔥
You guys ass so I just thought I'd let you know this entire Series has been filmed in Ireland, all but the volcano scene in the beginning of episode 1 which was actually filmed in Greenland during the winter. All other episodes are recorded in Ireland. It's like how Lord of the Rings was all filmed in New Zealand, they pick a location and stick with it
Actually this show is largely filmed in Hungary - I just Googled to check. You're getting it confused with Vikings which was filmed mainly in Ireland.
Spartacus the series is insane. Better then game of thrones😍😍
It's 6-7yrs jump.
"Sigtryggr needs to talk to his wife" before letting his brothers ppl have a trial that is fair and under Dane law??? Ik ita a tv show and we all could see that coming that his bro was gunna cross him but I feel sometimes yall forget this show is in year 918 right now and Sigtryggr is called a king so he don't need to ask shit to nobodyyy!!!!
26:07 hahahahahaha
Lol, I thought you said “a shoe” “a screw” glad u repeated that one lol
Outlander would be great after you’re done with TLK.
😍🔥
Destiny is all
are you reacting to the peaky blinders soon?
Does anyone else really, really, really, really hate Brida? Genuinely one of my most disliked TV character. Still love the show, though.
It's easy to forget what Brida has gone through. I get frustrated with her as well... but if you go back her trauma must be insane. I can't imagine.
Fair point about her being old school though. At the same time - she's seeing her culture be wiped out by Christianity.
The irony is, that it isn't even her original culture. Her real parents were killed and she was enslaved as a child.
@@sam-psonsmith9951 in the books it was worse. Her parents weren't killed but her mom was abusive and let a priest try to molest her
@@awesomness36 which explains why she hates Christians so much and sees paganism as her Savior.
To bad they didn't at least hint towards it in the show. I understand why they didn't outright show it, but they could have made a comment or two that hints towards it.
For example her accusing Christians of abusing children, even though we never saw on screen how that happened, indicating that she saw something we didn't.
Or her saying that Christian parents care more about their God than their Children.
@@sam-psonsmith9951 it wasn't necessary. In the show, she grew up pagan, the first Christians she met threw her in a cell and judged her, she saw Uhtred being used by Alfred, her lover was killed by a saxon, she was imprisoned and pissed on by Christians... That's a lot
@@awesomness36 Nonsense, in the Show she was about Uthreds age when the Pagans showed up, the first Pagans she met, slaughtered people right in front of her, tortured them for fun...
And the first Christians she met we didn't see, or are you telling me she never met a human until the Pagans showed up?
Seriously? Brida is this seasons villain? So lame...
