I'm way happier with this ending than I was with game of thrones.
If I'm not mistaken, the show was cancelled after season 5 but Netflix gave them the opportunity to make a film to close out the show properly, that explains the pacing issues and absent characters. I don't blame the show for that, they did the best they could with the time they were given.
Yeah, Netflix screwed them.
It wasn't canceled. They only planned for 5 seasons. They decided to add the movie because the author had written 3 more books
Uthred's actor said in a short that they were lucky to shoot season 5. Getting this movie on top of that is incredible.
@@veiregor I do appreciate the content we got. I guess I'm just hungry for more, and reluctant to say goodbye. There were a lot of missing characters that went unexplained, again my disappointment. I also understand commitment issues, and that this was mid-covid (I believe). Just voicing wishes. Absolutely love this series
@@Heather61776 i also wish that netflix could let shows like this thrive instead of making others like resident evil and whatnot
As a grown man I also cried when I heard & saw Valhalla. The incredible journey that you go on through the show with Uhtred and all that he went through, he deserves to finally enter the feasting hall with his fellow Danes. I also think Ragner went to Valhalla. They only showed 4 characters, so all the others probably weren't casted.
The end of this movie was so beautiful, and watching Bamburgh Castle in stone like Osbert said to his father Uhtred that they were gonna built in stone and watching the castle on present day, so beautiful!
But Bebbanburg was rebuilded in stone only after William I become King of England, and Uthreds family lost castle to Norman lord.
From what I've seen of actor interviews after release they were massively restricted on time shooting the movie. They also said there were many scenes that were cut from the movie that would've added another hour of runtime. Think everyone knew it was going to be rushed, but I still enjoyed it for what it was. Now I pray for a extended director's cut to get released!
Happy and sad at the same time 🥲
Uhtred seeing Valhalla brought tears to my eyes😭 the journey was crazy
he survives in the books
Was great to re-watch with you Sith....Omygosh, had me bawling at the end😭😭😭
The end of another great reaction journey with you😊
Thanks Sithfurion ❤
Great reaction as always. Like many, I would have loved a 6th season but Netfix said no, you can make a movie but we won't increase the budget, you've got six weeks to shoot and it has to come in under 2 hours. Also covid restrictions still apply! In the circumstances, I think the cast and crew did an amazing job. A lot of the missing characters are already dead by the time of the Battle of Brunanburh, including Stiorra and Edith. The actor who played Young Ragnar was working on another project, I just tell myself he was in Valhalla but gone to have a pee! I really enjoy the movie and have watched it a number of times and it does seem to flow better on rewatch. I love the show so much and really appreciate the cast and crew for making the movie for TLK fans to complete the story of the unification of England. Destiny is All 🗡🛡⚔️
Huh, how did Stiorra pass away?
@@quiett6191 she died in battle.
Thank you so much for watching the show, the best show of all time, Please visit bemburg In the UK and vlog it!? Destney is all ❤️❤️❤️
Man I'm sad and happy that I got to experience your reactions for the first time, watching The Last Kingdom. Love every bit and moment when you read what was going to happen.
Hi mate! So glad to see you watch this AND im glad we had the same idea about the movie being rushed in comparison to the show. It indeed felt like that, i still like your reaction tho. Thanks for your reactions to the show and hope to see more reactions of you to shows that i like. Skol!
I'm going to Miss the The Last Kingdom reactions so much! Can't wait for your next reaction on the channel, DESTINY IS ALL!!
Ironically, the Anglo-Saxons was Danes ( = Jutes and Angles ) who imigrated to “England” in the 5 century, to then fight the Danish attacks in the 8-10th century, for lastly the viking colony of Normandy, in 1066 eventually conquered all of England by Danish descendant -William the conquer. Danes fighting Danish descendants for several centuries.
Man what a journey
time to go back and watch it all again from the start
its like it was yesterday i started watching your reaction to it
like with vikings i just need to rewatch the reactions to it like once every few months
The 🐐 reactor! I started watching you in 2018 when u began TLK and I watched the show alongside you. 🐐
what a great show, been following u since vikings season 1. And now this masterpiece ends... definitely one of the top shows.
I loved your reactions on The Last Kingdom! What an amazing series! Sad this will be the end, but it was a good and solid end. Really enjoyed the journey.
I don't know if it is your cup of tea. But if you are ever in search for a new series I would recommend Lost.
Uhtred earned his place in Valhalla
I’ve seen this at least a million times over, but watching you cry, made me cry! Urg 😫
Thanks for sharing!
I couldn't hold back my tears either, I recommend reading the books, they are amazing.. destiny is all.⚔️
I have not yet seen this show, but I wanted to say hey Sith ❤ I am doing really good, compared to all the other six or so years I have followed you ♥️ I wish you all the best, sending love and good vibes your way across the ocean. Skål 🔥
This ending is so cool and perfect. You know what would've been cool tho? If we had such ending in Vikings. But this time it would be Floki. On one side Ubba, Torvi, Indians are happy and celebrating. On other side Ragnar, Lagertha, Bjorn, Ivar, Torstein, One-eye and Helga celebrating too. Holy shit just imagine that, already gives me goosebumps.
That ending.
Finally!!!!!!
For the very last time (for TLK) " LET'S DO THIS MAN!!!!!!" ❤🎉
Eivor palsdottir is a goddesss...
i actually watched her LIVE stream on youtube with John Lunn during lockdown. one of the best things ive ever heard.
she was laughing about her neighbour always complaining. imagine living next door to her and hearing her screeching, if i knew who she was i would be smiling not moaning about it.
May Uhtred feast forever in the Great halls of Valhalla
I’ve been excited & dreading your reaction to this, ‘cause I don’t want it to end! 😂 What an amazing ending!! I was disappointed we didn’t get to see some certain characters… but over all I thought this was a very powerful finale. ❤️⚔️
I'm glad we got the movie but would've preferred a whole season
Well, Netflix didn't want another season. This was the only option they had.
Did you hear about the new show the Winter King coming out next month from the same author as TLK?It's not on Netflix.I forgot what streaming service it's going to be on.The trailer is out now.
I am SO ready for that. Cornwell did such a good and fascinating job of putting the legend of King Arthur into a historical context, trying to make it the reality behind the fairytale. I also loved the way he cleverly wrote about the "magic" Merlin and others were doing, so that it looked like something that a person from that time period would think is magic, but it wasn't.
And young Ragnar couldn’t be there for some reason, I think someone found out why but I forgot.
Im with you on this one brother.. It hurt like hell, saw it three times that very 1 st weekend, and still binge clips it.. Same reaction, cried my eyes out, still do…
A great ending to an amazing show.
One thing I love about this show is that it portrays all sides fairly. The English aren't all incompetent, weasly cowards who can't fight and the Vikings aren't all Übermensch 7 foot warriors with Godlike fighting abilities. Its just alot more realistic to be honest with you. Its almost as if the people who made Vikings are a bunch of Anglophobes.
Completely agree with your take on it - it was rushed but was good to get the close to such a brilliant show . The no mention of absent massive characters , especially Stiorra felt off !
Ya I can understand the actors not being able to do the show because of other commitments but to not mention them at all was strange. Like they could have had the story that Stiorra found love and sailed off with a Dane and a shot of Aelswith's tomb or even Finan cracking a joke about her and immediately making a toast to her memory or something.
@@ronweber1402 The actress who plays Aelswith hinted that there would be a reference to her character (due to scheduling conflicts, she wasn't able to make it for the movie). My guess is that they filmed some of these mentions but they didn't make the final cut.
I'm mostly happy with the movie, but I was displeased by the way they wrote Aethelstan. I'm usually the last person to pull the "but in the books..." card, (as I have loathed the people who did that in regard to GoT and HOTD) but there's a difference between removing things and completely giving Aethelstan's entire character a complete 180. In the books, yes, Aethelstan was all in on adding Northumbria to England, but he went about it in a more rational way. Especially with Uhtred. He talked things out. He didn't threaten. He didn't try to pull this tough guy BS on the man. Sure, he was still wrong, but he wasn't an arsehole about it.
On the plus side, they do eventually give Aethelstan back his real character, but that bit in the middle angers me to no end.
Yeah, that snake used Aethelstan's guilt over being gay to manipulate him. Some things never change, especially with priests and people who think they're priests.
I definitely felt like this movie should've been 6 episodes long.
Well we can thank Netflix for making bad decisions.
I’ve said it before, I think you’re an Arseling!! It’s a great group to be in!! The worst thing about this movie is that it’s over!! wyrd bið ful aræd"
it was a great ending for uhtred, but yes the movie was too rushed
This would of been such an amazing season but I’m aware of why due to contract ending etc….nonetheless this is my favorite show ever! Destiny is All!!
Not aging Uhtred or any of the other characters properly always bothered me so my head canon is that we see Uhtred as he sees himself. Bc otherwise it makes no sense why he has looked the same while living through several generations of kings. The ending is also purposely ambiguous. The viewer can decide if he went into Valhalla or chose to stay with his remaining friends and family. I also believe that there is a possibility that Uhtred was actually on his death bed rather than actually up and walking around at the end but we saw it as Uhtred believed it was happening due to his pride. Bc the things being said sounded an awful lot like conversations they wld have with a man in his bed on the brink of death.
Thank you for this!! 😊
♥️🛡⚔🗡🏹
The movie serves more as an Epilogue than an ending. Season 5 was the intended ending.
I live just down the road ,my lot came over with Ida.
as a movie it wasnt the greatest in my opinion but it did give an acceptable ending to the most incredible story
Exactly how I felt. It definitely seemed like a whole season crunched together into 2 hours or so. It was still a good ending though.
Destiny Is All... for one last time 😭
The man is back
@SiTHFuRioN It's been great watching this series with ya
It's a pretty good movie ngl but just really wish wish they had made another season out of this, feels would hit way way way deeper and the ending would be more satisfying, like they could of showed the Edward death or more about the plot, more to how the Inglmudr or whatever got to Aethelstan or even how Aethelstan actually has a redemption over more minutes instead of just a minute. like you can see what they're trying to do here but just need more screentime of it. But ccan't blame them tbf, it costs a lot as well, that or Netflix just doens't allow it.
Wasn't the greatest but still worth the watch and definitely worth watching a Sith reaction to it!
You should check out The Winter King. I’m actually really enjoying it but I feel it isn’t getting enough love.
The last Scene hits different 😢😢😢
I wish they had done at least a four part mini series. If each episode was a little over an hour, it could have been better. It wasnt a bad movie. But a short Season like a 5B with 4 episodes would have been so much better than just trying to cram everything into just 2 hours. Just my opinion. Overall a solid 8/10 movie 👍
Love ya videos man give me a destraction from all the shit in life I appreciate ya, 🙏😁
In the books he survives but they had to shorten it for the movie
Love this show so much I watch it over and over. My only wish for the movie would have been to see Ragnar in the great hall but I am very happy with the movie.
"Who touched my arse?" 😂 Finan!
Agreed, the lack of known characters had a huge impact
I’m reading the books now. Fucking amazing
I get you feel that it was rushed but remember that when this movie wasn’t supposed to happen. When they decided to film it they decided to go with the battle brunanburh. It’s not known if the real uhtred the bold was at the battle but he was alive at the time. The movie focuses on that point and build up cause it’s a decisive moment for England.. The only other battle to be bloodier on English land was the Battle of Hastings when William the conqueror ( great grandson of Rollo) comes
If I remember right, Uhtred the Bold was born in the 950's, and the Battle of Brunanburh was 20 years before that, so no, he would not have been alive at the time.
The battle of Towton 1461 there’s videos on UA-cam about that terrible slaughter.
I’ve walked around the battle field and it’s got a melancholy to it,when you think about what happened there.
8 hours later and I so down for this!
Omygosh finally!!!! YES!!!
great reaction
Yeah they only had 7 weeks to film and even then it was a push to be able to get this movie made. It would've been better as a season/mini series, yeah, but they did what they were able to do
Poor Finan😢 he breaks me
The film was rushed to fast and crammed way to much into such a little time. I wish they could’ve took their time and maybe spread it out over 2 movies. So much went unsaid.
Haha I literally just posted the same comment 😅
The books are spectacular!
R.I.P Lord Aldhelm
❤
I agree the story was very rushed and it could have been easily a full season. After that i decided to hear the Audiobooks. Let´s hear how the Original source is playing out. I´m at book 4 now and there are already some major Character differences. It was a real pleasure to rewatch and share the Tears and Joys of this amazing Story with you. ❤
Netflix didn't give them the option of a full season. This was the only option they had. It was make a movie to finish the books, or nothing.
@@ms_scribbles yeah i thought so. It´s a real shame. Unfortunately this Show never got the Attention it deserved.
I believe Uhtred was supposed to be in his 60s when he passed
Nah it was actually 80s
DESTINY IS ALL
Mmmm tears😤
I read that Uhtred Of Babenberg was loosely based on the real person, Uhtred The Bold who lived a full century after King Alfred The Great, I also read the Uhtred The Bold was born in or around 956 & was assassinated by Cnut in 1016. I agree about this movie being rushed, it did leave out a lot of characters, Hild I guess was the Abbess mentioned, Aelswith in history died in 902 days before Aethelwold on December 5th. I think Stiorra must've died before the movie & maybe Aelfwynn too? I don't know when the real Aelfwynn was born or died or even what happened to her after Edward took over Mercia, but she did rule for 6 - 18 months wiki says, but it doesn't mention what happened to her afterwards except that she probably entered holy orders.
To me the ending was the way it was because uhtred was torn all his life and even then at deaths door he was still torn between saxons and dane
Game of thrones could never produce such an ending
I enjoyed this movie, although I would've preferred another season. Each season of the series covered 2 books over 10 hour- long episodes. This movie crammed 3 books of content into, what? 2 hours? I liked it for what it was, but was left wanting more. Expecting more. IDK. I'll forever miss the series, and rewatch often
Finally 😂
My biggest problem with this movie was that it ended up having to cram the final three entire books of the series into a slightly less than 2 hour movie, so like what would have been 2-3 episodes of the show. Sadly they ended up chopping a giant amount of the book plot out of it and that was probably why it felt rushed. Now, Sith, you just need to make a pilgrimage to modern-day Bamburgh Castle!
But it was either this or nothing, because Netflix was ready to dump the show.
41:42
You're right it is rushed. It, as you said could have been a mini season. They left so many questions unanswers.
Watching your reaction had me crying all over again. Heartbreaking but not how I wanted to see it end. As you say The Last Kingdom is in my top two favourite series.
Game of Thrones, minus season 8.
Have you watched GOT? I'd have loved to see you react to that if you haven't seen it. Anyway, until next time, Destiny is All 😊
He's got reactions to s6-8 of Thrones
It couldn't have been a mini season, because Netflix wouldn't let them do another season, even a mini one.
😭😭😭
I was kinda sad we didn't see Aelswith or Stiorra but I can understand that the actors other commitments probably precluded their participating in "Seven Kings Must Die".
Ya I thought that they should have aged Uhtred up more too with more gray and more wrinkles. He's supposed to be like 60 and he looks like he's mid 40's, tops and this is the dark ages by 60 he should be looking like a worn out work boot.
I totally agree that ideally this should have been another whole, or at least mini, season but like I said before it probably had to do with the actors prior commitment. I think the movie idea was late in the process and the actors already had other things lined up so they quickly, while they still had the principle actors, put together the movie to finish it off.
thats the main thing that kinda annoyed me about this show. Love the story and everything, but always seeing the time jumps and having babies all of a sudden be like young adults, and then Uthred and everyone else just have longer hair
@@orangedinosaur3546 Time jumps are fine with me. I don't need 5 years of Uhtred living on his farm between battles and issues.
@@ronweber1402 Oh im not saying we need to see that, but its the fact that it never looks like anyone ages except the children turning into adults
@@orangedinosaur3546 Oh, I get you now. Ya the adults, except for Alfred, never seemed to age. Aelswith seemed to get younger while Uhtred never got older.
The problem with the movie was that is was a movie
Netflix only gave them the option to make a movie. It was either a movie or nothing. Would you have preferred nothing?
@@ms_scribbles no I’m happy with something, I just think it should have been season 6
I complete agree with it feeling rushed, maybe doubled to 4 episodes length rather than the 2 it was.
It clearly has problems but I can't agree with how it was trashed by some people. Like sure it's not some great epic, but even looking at it as 2 average episodes, there's been worse spans of 2 consecutive episodes in the show itself.
They did what they could with the options Netflix gave them.
Young Ragnar is definitely in Valhalla, I refuse to believe anything else!!!!! It hurt so much that they weren't able to get the actor for that scene.
And to lose the female presence, which was always one of the gems of the show, was a bit painful.
The female characters had either moved on with their lives or died at this point in the story, though. The only female characters left hadn't been introduced in the show and it would have been weird to try to introduce them now, with so little time to get to know them.
@@ms_scribbles I mean, that's fair but there wasn't a single mention of or allusion to any of these characters. They could have at the very least let us know what Stiorra was up to, since they mentioned Young Uhtred (who was basically irrelevant to the plot except in S4). There was also supposed to be some kind of mention of Aelswith but I guess they had to be brutal and cut off everything that wasn't completely necessary for the story.
I really think uhtred died on the battlefield because at the end he seen father pullecs spirit I think at the end when it shows him at the table talking to edward its all going on in his head biggest clue is that father pullec is there perfectly fine after taking a spear to his neck lol I think it was him deciding between heaven and Valhalla
When Bebbenburgh was on fire, before the rain came,Uhtred said that it was,”His destiny to die” there.
And we all know that according to Uhtred ,
Destiny is all.
The movie wasn't the best ever because it felt a bit rushed but was still fine. A season 6 would have been a better option but ok. The only thing i really hated was the death of Aldhelm and not to be rude but why did they make Athelstan gay? On the otherside i really liked the end of the movie. Uhtred standing between 2 worlds and have to chose again. Would give the movie a 7/10. Good end of the series as a whole. For me top 3 shows ever.
A Season 6 was not an option. Netflix gave them a choice, you can make a movie with all these restrictions (budget, length, etc.) or you can end it now with nothing.
Why are you a bigot?
The movie wasn't good and I probably will never watch it again when I go back and do a re-watch of the series. How the series ended in season 5 is the perfect ending for me.
Some people just said “ great ending “ however I don’t agree with that! There is a lot of an answer questions -What happened to Edith and king Alfred widow? I don’t like the ending of the “ Seven king must die”!!
He didn't die. A few books followed this ...
I didn't like it. Where were all of our women? They never even explained what happened to everyone. It felt rushed. This movie didn't do the series justice and we need a remake.
According to the books, Aelswith was dead, Edith was also dead from a plague that had swept Northumbria, Hild had gone back south to run her own abbey, Stiorra should have been dead a long time ago but the show kept her alive and I assume she's taking care of her own people, and Uhtred should be with a former Italian slave named Benedetta, but I think the showrunners figured it was way too late to start introducing a new love interest. Also, Aelfwynn should have also been gone a long time ago. She does kind of disappear in the books, but in history, Edward had locked her up into a nunnery when he took Mercia from her. And after that, the historical record completely goes blank when it comes to Aelfwynn.
So there...that's where all the women went.
Movie was meh Tbh. I prefer S5 ending than this but great reaction as always Sith!
I didn’t really liked the storyline in this movie, seven kings must die like who gives a fuck about the kings or Athelstan and the gay fucker were here to watch uthred and his mates that’s what we care about..the movie should’ve been about them.
usually when I finish a tv show that I really like..it kinda sticks with me for couple days but this one..nah man I suspected it to me so much better but the ending was really fuckin good
Good lord. A bit salty, are we?
@@ms_scribbles no, you just read it with your angry voice
?? The whole story is about the creation of England
I believe it was rushed precisely because it was a movie lol they needed to make it at least a mini season, but a movie is all netflix would greenlit so they did what they could with what they had
Yeah, they had to either pack three books into one movie, or leave the story dropped completely. I'd rather have this.
@@ms_scribbles Same!
Movie was so bad lol
A tad rushed, but far from bad
"I didn't like it" =/= "movie was so bad lol". Subjectivity is a thing
Hella rushed for sure
Have you watched Peaky Blinders? @SiTHFuRioN ? Hope you're having a great day.
