Extra note: Having the rotary encoder without the button in it is there for the knob to feel more solid, since having the button introduces quite a bit of wobble. But still, it's much better to have the button because of all the extra functionality it provides! At best I'd recommend getting the non-button rotary encoder as an extra if you really want that!

@tokaku, great videos. I always enjoy them. I just have two questions: do you perhaps know where I can get a full custom build guide with necessary parts etc. A buddy of mine would love to build me one but we lack blueprints and all required parts. Second question: if I cant get to do a custom build, can you assist in getting one of these controllers down to South Africa, Cape Town. It is literally impossible to get anything remotely close to an actual dj game controller. I have all the original EZ2DJ arcade game images and almost all the latest Beatmania IIDX images as well which I use personally. I also bought these upgrade kits for EZ2DJ, but don't feel like fiddling with them hence using the images instead. So far all I'm short of is a controller. 😅 If you can assist it would be amazing. I'd definitely pay ofcourse!

This looks very well thought out and designed on the inside. It's just a shame about the wheel being too close.
That PCB routing is so artful and intentional. You can see how much thought went into every detail on this device, even the placement of the screws is chosen to give each key the same beam spacing for more consistent resonance, something that had never even occurred to me before.

because a lotta people are always mad at macro pads in general because of high price and custom num pads like keychrons. You guys have to know that the expensive part of a keyboard is all alrdy in there. the size is the easiest to alter without significantly increasing the price of the product. yeah, your 3-5 or even 20 key macro pad is alrdy almost a full sized keyboard on technical basis.

This is absolutely adorable and it seems like it'd be neat to have just as a novelty item, but it's just way too small to be useful as a controller and not ideally laid out to be a great macro pad. With speedypotato working on his own Pico IIDX controller I think I'd rather just wait and see how that turns out.

As someone with very large hands, I want one of these to learn how to play IIDX completely one-handed. It sounds like a completely unnecessary challenge that I am now tempted to take on.
If you have a pc beatmania emulator, could you just map the keys to what it uses by default instead of flashing it?

It looks like an expensive toy. Because of the size, using keyboard switches seems like an appropriate choice, but rotary encoder switch used on turntable do not have the mechanical strength to withstand turntable scratching. I know of several arcades that have posted warning signs restricting extreme movement due to the frequent failure of the Sound Vortex's rotary encoders.

Using a mouse without a deskmat/mousepad is a war crime.
Why? I know it used to be a thing with optical mice on white or clear desks, but not sure why now
