They didn’t need to force in the unnecessary character for Cam
Only bad part
Otherwise pretty good story
Sad AF
I was really impressed by the acting of the teenage actors in this show. They really did a fantastic job at acting out dark scenes, namely the murder, and I'm looking forward to seeing them in future projects.
Me too they really brought the house down. Especially the girl who played Reena she brought so much depth and nuance to her character.
Totally agree! It was refreshing to see kids played by actual kids; and they did such a tremendous job!
Are they actually teens? There’s a 30+ year old from my hometown playing a teen
I watched the entire series and only today did I realize that the actor who played Warren also played Ashtray on Euphoria
@@Discoball_Glitterholy shi+ it is him!
IT's sad was teens will do to fit in or be cool. Reena did bad things like accuse her dad or abuse and being so dismissive. It's also BS how these teens under government care got all this freedom and spending money. Where is the incentive to behave?
The lady who played Suman deserves all the awards. She was heartbreakingly brilliant in the part. She didn’t have to say anything but those eyes told an entire story. Especially the last episode where she finds her daughters CD and they’re dancing to it and when it stops. Her silence was so POWERFUL.
Yes, Archie Panjabi is such a sublime actress. I've loved her since I first watched her in "Bend it Like Beckham", as a teenager, though she's mostly known for "The Good Wife." She did a remarkable job of acting as Suman, with her facial expressions conveying her heartbreak over losing her only child.💔
@@trinaq her silence is powerful but deadly. She doesn’t have to say anything.
Archie Punjabi is the actress's name. She was in The Good Wife, Bend It Like Beckham, San Andreas, A Good Year and various other movies and TV shows.
And yes, she was indeed awesome in that final episode!
That last scene was so moving!
So true !
I think this is the first show in a long time where kids look like kids
Because they were and gave amazing performances. .
Ages when filming started:
Vritika Gupta (13) - Reena
Izzy G (14) - Kelly
Javon Walton (15) - Warren
Chloe Guidry (16) - Josephine
Aiyana Goodfellow (17) - Dusty
That part..
And Mare of Eastown!!
Under the Bridge is the best true crime I’ve seen in ages. I love Lily Gladstone and Riley Keogh’s chemistry, Archie Punjabi is magnificent. The teens are terrifying. All the young actors are destined for greatness.
Agree 100% with this whole comment!
I wouldn’t say it’s the best. I would argue the first season of Dr. Death was a great true crime show. This show could have been great but decided to make up lots of things that didn’t happen
All the actors are great in the show but it’s the direction and the screenplay that fails
I'm so disgusting that Kelly has children of her own
Same
It's sad that Reena falsely accused her dad of mistreating her, so that she could fit in with her friends in Foster care. She had the most loving home life out of all the teenagers, making her murder at their hands even more heartbreaking.
They wanted to destroy her in every way possible..
What she did to her dad was horrendous but I think her home life was far from happy and heavily religious households can be very stifling for teens. I'd have wanted out too but not at that cost
I work in a group home for girls like that. This is sooo common and it happens to the most caring parents.
Although I really enjoyed this limited series, but I found how they portrayed Rebecca in this series was very distracting. I am trying to understand why the writers decided to portray her as such an annoying, unsympathetic individual towards Reena and her family, when in reality the actual Rebecca was nothing like that. Aside from the that, the series was good - the acting was incredible, everyone did a great job.
yea i felt the same. i know the show and book is based of rebecca but i coulda had less of her. i was thinking the backstory of her brother and the backstory of the cop was going to go somewhere else but it didn’t. i was thinking the brother unalived himself bcuz of rebecca and the cop had a secret relationship. i also thought they was going to rekindle a relationship.
There is a really great interview on Vulture, with Quinn that explains more in depth about making the TV adaptation. Rebecca Godfrey passed away from stage 4 cancer about a week after Hulu green-lit for full production. Though she had cancer, her and Quinn worked together for over 2 and a half years before she passed. Might help explain a few more things that this video didn't.
I wonder if that was the reality of it tho. I do wish it was more about Reena and her family but ig that’s not the story they wanted, just like Rebecca.
The cop character was a compilation of several people and not an actual person. I am a bit disappointed to find out about some of the things that were changed or left out of the series. I did enjoy the series very much and I am glad that Renna's story was brought to light and is now being discussed.@@a1errthing
And why turn her into a lesbian? Stick to reality.
The performance of Dusty and Kelly was incredible
Yess, it really made me hate them
I think it's interesting how josephine was incapable of cutting kelly with that knife but did not even think twice about cutting dusty. Ironically, kelly did not hesitate to cut josephine's hand and deep.
Josephine also didn't have the guts to confront Kelly after learning she tried to pin it on her. They were all truly weak.
Reena didn’t deserve to get killed but damn it I will forever hate the fact she did the false accusations agaisnt her father just to fit in and be with her “friends” in the Foster Home.
Peer pressure does a lot of things
@@carlaxarts193doesn’t excuse it !
Yeah, teenagers do stupid things out of peer pressure. The human brain is not developed until age 25. But she retracted it and that redeems her
@@sybaritesphynx8057 yeah but That doesn't excuse it though...those accusations 9/10 ruins that person's life. And affects real victims in the future not saying Reena should've been killed AT ALL
@@carlaxarts193yeah but That doesn't excuse it though...those accusations 9/10 ruins that person's life. And affects real victims in the future. Not saying Reena should've been killed AT ALL
I hated how they tried to make Victoria seems like a small rural town. The drone shots of the "bridge" showed a bridge in the middle of nowhere. The actual Craigflower Bridge is in a very populated city area. Victoria is a pretty unique city, but instead of showing it, they tried to make it seem like small town Appalachia or something.
It was filmed outside of Vancouver.
Future Emmy winner Lily Gladstone.
Those kids are her up with the acting. Lilys scenes were the worse imo. She only has one expression at all times
The showrunner had lots of material but decided to just make up lots of stuff. The acting is good but I just wished they were more professional about the reel story instead of interjecting what the show runner wanted the store to be
It’s a show not a documentary
@@vicentemariani8730 you have a responsibility to the family and especially Rebecca
@@justinrussell9391 Rebecca spent 3 years collaborating with the show writer. they checked everything with her
@@gumyumgirl true and Rebeca passed away sasley before production started. How could Rebeca know what this show would turn out. Read the book gumyumgirl
I live in Victoria & I remember this happening. I was in grade 8 & we had a big assembly with the whole school grade by grade to talk about it, the district offered us counsellors. It was so scary at that time. Parents got extra protective & were keeping kids close. It was a terrible tragedy. May she rest in peace💜🙏🏼
so why did Victoria seem to have a lot of young girls in foster care at the time ? do you remember the teenagers involved ? it seems like those girls were so heartless
@@Kenzie_McIntyreI was around the same age in Victoria. The problem is all over BC. Mcfd which is child protection is messed up. So many kids in foster care and over 50% are indigenous. Around this time mcfd was even worse then they are now.
@AnneGreystoke oh I thought Victoria was some small island and it was sort of unique to there
Canada always seems like it is really well governed with lots of government support but it just goes to show
were you desperate to leave Victoria when you were at school ??
@@Kenzie_McIntyre no more like I was desperate to leave school. I’m still on Vancouver Island.
@AnneGreystoke i have seen how beautiful it looks ...take care
RIP REENA ❤ YOU DIDNT DESERVE THIS SHIT FR
MsMojo, Your videos are fantastic! I just had to subscribe!
Such a good show! The young actors did so well. I love true crime stories, but I had no idea about this one. Lily Gladstone is very talented and I’m happy that she’s bringing much needed representation into films/tv shows.
Enjoyed the series and am now reading the book. Certainly shocked by the degree of deviation from details in the book .
Can you tell me if the book is completely different from series.
It is VERY different from the book which is investigative and was based on many interviews with those involved. Read the book!
@@ekimap2 thanks, I wanted to know this only. I will read the book.
What about the invitation to Reena's home and subsequent theft of the earrings?
The whole lesbian angle they were pushing was completely unnecessary for the plot. They should have replaced that garbage woke fluff with more meatier back stories about Cams background as well as Rebecca’s brothers drowning. Otherwise the series has been good and I like that the teens actually look and act their natural age portrayed in the story. A tragic story of bullying and loneliness gone wrong.
My late wife passed away 4 years ago and her family are Jehovah’s Witnesses. My wife never got baptized and so she didn’t become one.
Though we weren’t in their religion, even I know enough about them to know that the writers of this miniseries should have actually did better research.
Such as what the mother prayed about when her daughter was first missing. The funeral scene. “The children of God, children of the devil, speech. There probably other things.
I get that things get twisted in all movies because for dramatic reasons. Probably to show these kids are evil for killing Reena.
I don’t know. Maybe I shouldn’t care. But I figured if even I know the inaccuracies then the writers should have done better homework.
I agree! They did poor research! Irritating.
They left out the 2 girls they called the hero of the story…Such an interesting story… RIH Reena/Suma
The main character was so annoying in this
I’m sad Gladstone’s character is made up 😢
I got to say looking into the case they did really good on casting people that looked similar to the real people. that on top of the great acting that was done in the series I was absolutely blown out of the water. i wanted way more episodes. hopefully Hulu ends up doing more like this true crime inspired series.
My father would disown me if I make this accusation
Thanks for this video telling us what’s fact and fiction
İt's funny how Disney create a first nation female police officer in such a true story to form a diversity-based lesbian relationship. Who are you really?
You guys should do a fact and fiction video for Argo (2012)
I live in that city. I remember when this happened.
Happy monday afternoon, Rebecca, take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well.
I really disliked this show. The showrunner took way too many liberties
Archi Panjabi was magnificent, shes beautiful and a great actress!
In departure she was ace for anyone who aint seen it! I watch everything shes in!!!
Lily Gladstone, Archi Punjabi, Ezra Faroque Khan, and all of the young actors were fantastic. Riley Keough was pretty bad. It was pretty distracting how bad her acting was. That constant smirk was weird, and she blinked incessantly. It was the weak link for me as far as acting goes
I haven’t watched the show but how those young girls ended Reena’s life was so messed up. I think all of the girls should’ve been held accountable and sentenced to prison.
Thanks for this video on what is right and wrong about this case.
The teens’ acting in this series was chilling. Seriously, superbly well made series and great choice of cast.
I think Josephine knew what was going to happen. She’s full of crap!
Why was her pants removed when they found her body?
She was a heavy girl. When they removed her boots and wrestled her around in the water her pants came off.
@@michaelfox8014and her underwear? The girl who did that to her is a psychopath.
I appreciate this reality check, and I find it unfortunate facts have be skewed by Hollywood, particularly when it comes to the culpability of some of the actions of the teens. Hard to believe they can get away with it in a way.
She actually didn’t live back home at the time of her death, she was just planning on spending the night there.
kelly PISSES ME OFF oml i was about to stop watching
glad you made this. for those of us who lived through this - this show was such a farce. so many things wrong.
What are the biggest things it got wrong?
@@kikihernandez410 the portrayal of Kelly's mom (shes actually really nice), Kelly never stole her dads car and never made "dusty" get on the train tracks. warren's gf was never given protection so she was harassed for years. the general story is correct (they called Reena, a fight happened, the cigarette part is true. Kelly's involvement has always been questionable. "jo" really was more the mastermind.) I feel like this was more a story to exonerate warren.
@@earthmoonstars2013 wow that’s crazy! I did kind of feel like they’re were trying to make Warren be a likeable character. Thanks for the background information. Puts a whole different light on the subject.
Leon Bing is the author of the first book about this murder.
So how did Rebecca get all the information from
Such good show
Hiiii❤❤❤😊😊 it ok it fine ok❤❤❤ yuri your the one who can't not eat fast said natsuki oh ok
I thought the show was quite moving. From what I read about the actual case and trial, I know there was artistic licence that some of the creators took with the show. I do t think it really took away from the message though. The performances were amazing. Particularly the teenagers. I work with teenage boys at risk, and the initiation scene with Warren was very upsetting. It’s something that I’ve seen first hand. And although I haven’t seen it with girls I know it’s accurate. Overall I was deeply moved by this series
Why is it entitled “right or wrong?” This is a piece of fiction, not a documentary. It’s clearly stated that it fictionalised some of the events. Art cannot be wrong. Maybe it would be better to say fact or fiction.
Excellent series!!! Heartbreaking excellent acting by all especially the woman portraying Rena’s mother ❤😢 senseless murder by evil teenagers!
A Bridge Too Far
Music in the vid was giving me a headache
I loved Riley, she is hot 😅
As someone from Victoria who followed this story in the press, "Under the Bridge" is not only just flat out bad, it does a massive disservice to Reena and her family.
She deserves better than a poorly acted, WG apologetic, horribly paced mini series. It's legitimately horrible.
Kelly? Is that you?
You can bash it any other way, but to say it was poorly acted is just delusional and spiteful. Even if everything else is wrong, the acting is great. Genuinely not trying to discredit your experience but you just sound bitter
@@janb92did we watch the same show?
@@kolinajane4691 clearly not because you’re reaching
The acting in this series is incredible. Lily Gladstone is so down to earth and shows actual pain. To me that makes her #1.
Did dusty fancy her? But fancied blonde more
Great acting loved the soundtrack and cinematography. Enjoyed the series. Kinda annoying how literally every show now has to have lgbt characters in them tho..
IT'S SO BAD AND SO DISRESPECTFUL. PLEASE DON'T WATCH IT.
In the series, it came across as Reena a lonely girl wanting friends so bad, but shed lived her life in such seclusion she came across as a weirdo to other kids, i blame parents!!! Ok she was a different culture ! If you want your kids grow up in that Alcatraz culture they should stay in there own countries not take them western countries where they can only watch other kids having fun! They prob kept her away from other kids and cultures like a prisoner for some rich uncle. when they get in teens they retaliate! Get with wrong kinds cos theyve no idea, not street wise! Not letting her remove her body hair🤮 ok in india they dont. BUT SHE AINT IN INDIA. Ive seen a lot of movies like this and documentary's, honour killings. Because the poor girl doesnt understand why her class mates are laughing at her hairy body! And talking about past xmas partys etc that she envies! Like they say WHEN IN ROME. . I feel so sorry for these girls it's always girls. Ive even watched movies where they were the most loving child until puberty, then completely change and see their home as a prison camp! It was great watching all good acting, i felt so sorry for Reena her life was a car crash. 😭😭 i cried watching this, those girls were evil. She was thrown to the lions!
This is a terrible take and your racism is showing.
Bc Has a large Indian population( though I am not sure how big Victoria does in comparison) add on top of that she was 7th day Adventist. She just wanted to fit in so badly- just like her parents and grandparents before her.
Gladstone was supposed to be indigenous? She was all white tho
The actor is actually indigenous tho she’s of Pigean Blackfeet and raised on the Rez. And whats w the all white comment? Just because of her lighter complexion doesn’t mean she’s not indigenous
did u even watch the series? her being indigenous is a major plot point of the show? idk how u can watch it and not grasp that
@@aaliyah9016 yes but her story had nothing to do with the real story. I loved the series but it could have easily been four or six episodes.
I’m Latina and that’s as ignorant as when people say ‘you’re Latina? But you’re so white’. 🤦♀️
I’m blind and I had actually listened to this story through a podcast months ago, but watched the series just 2 days ago. I’m still thinking about it. It was just absolutely brilliant! I felt and imagined everything as if I was watching with my own eyes
