Wow! Excellent video! I was at Hersheypark in the 1960's and it was wonderful. Lines for rides were nearly non-existent and instead of the Chocolateworld ride, you would actually go through the factory. I think we got an actual Hershey chocolate bar at the end of the tour.
iirc they built chocolate world because the factory tours were so popular they couldn't keep up with demand. wish I could've been around to experience the real tour lol.
@@drpenguin57 demand and concerns over keeping the plant running with it's FDA ,OSHA ,AND Health standards going/ basically tour groups would have to dress up in the same gear as the Factory staff or they would have to build a tube to keep the public out of the chocolate. irony that when the cholate company sold there shares in the Monorail transit system mostly back to HERCO they didn't invoke there right to demand the removal of the downtown Station attached to one of the Plant buildings until 2007 when the company wanted to update the corporate offices and having the "monorail ghost station " was in the way.
My favorite was the Fun House(?) that had the circling discs we ids would try to get to the middle of. First Tuesday of August my hometown, Myerstown, PA all business shut down and went to the park for games and a greased pig contest highlighting it. Then a picnic and the park in the afternoon and evening with all your friends on the bumber cars, etc.
Yes, i remember those wooden discs in the funhouse, and also that rolling wooden barrel that you had to try to walk through. Those were, no doubt, too dangerous and would have triggered lawsuits later on. I do miss the dark ride, the Gold Nugget.
The fun house! The fun house!! I must have been 8 years old, going through the Fun House with my dad and my younger brother. Some gruff old guy - they didn't have teenagers working there back then - told us to sit down on a bench. In the middle of the Fun House?! My dad disappointed me terribly by agreeing. TO SIT ON A BENCH!? IN A FUNHOUSE!!? The bench collapsed and dumped us onto a long conveyor belt. It was magical. It was wonderful. I think that the "Minetown Arcade" is located where the Fun House used to be, but I don't know for sure.
I loved the fun house, they also had a barrel that turned and your walked thru it. I guess it was late 60s that i started going. What memories! It has changed so much over the years, but i liked it better in the 60s.
@@teddycheddy it's crazy that they got rid of the one "transport" ride that actually transported you anywhere while making the park even bigger. they really need something like that again. walking the whole length of the park can be pretty tiring
Agent Bingo basically the same thing as that ride at fairs, but here it’s separate bigger cars seating several people rather than 1 continuous row of seats circling it.
Go to Hersheypark every summer and every spring break but not every time maybe I go like the first and I go for my birthday sometimes I like usually go there spring break
Thanks for the memories
This is an awesome video of Hershey Park! Thanks for sharing!

Everyone got a bar.
@@kenrawley9025 Yup and the giant vats of chocolate stirring put off a fantastic scnet that spread into Derry Avenue in front of the plant.

Love that look on that baby’s face on the horse ride at 1:05 lol I’m guess he or she is about 57yrs old now.
I wish I could go back in time and ride Lost River. I heard it was very popular and one of the most popular attractions for decades.

Yeh...that and the barrel tumbler. You would come out with skinned knees and elbows from rolling around in the barrel.😂😁

I was there. Remember it like it was yesterday. It was better then...
No GreatBear back in them days. I miss that other sky lift at Hersheypark. The one whare it was up above the carousel
Saved alot of walking by the end of the day. Just hop on it on one end of park and get off by entrance.

It was built in 1974 and removed in 1992. I wish I remembered it but was only 3.
0:34 What tf is that thing? Did the Teacups, Enterprise, and Musik Express have a kid or something? Can someone explain what this thing is?

It was called the Tip Top. I remember riding it when I was a kid.

Skyrush Was Built In 2012!
@@JornadoIt still should be there
whares the sound?
There was no sound on these old home movie clips. We must rely on the sounds from what we remember. :)
This is before sound was invented.

As people on 1966 would say, this is so far out.
