Yes! It's nice to listen to a lot of different renditions, but I think it's best to do it after you already have your own idea of how the piece should sound inside your head. Then come to youtube and go crazy with all the possibilities... Have you heard SUNA's rendition of this piece? ua-cam.com/video/ZyatCgi__gM/v-deo.html
Olivia Pereira Olivia Pereira I completely agree with playing it first without any influence! I haven’t until now, That was definitely interpreted differently but it was an excellent version 😊
Truly beautiful and heart touching performance. My daughter just starts the first movement, she found this video and immediately fall in love with the music.
I have to play this piece of music for my next exam. Yours is the best performance I have ever heard, in every aspect. It has been really helpful. Thank you very much.
I'm a beginner as It's been three years since I started playing violin. I go to bed listening to this video every night. Thanks for your beautiful sound! It makes me practice harder willingly :D
You play this both soulfully and masterfully! I want to wholeheartedly thank you for posting this. I played violin from the age of 8 until 18, when I went off and majored in the sciences, ultimately becoming a physician. I am now retired, early, due to physical disability. A year and a half ago, I picked up my violin after 38 years. It was a real ego crusher. Also, the E string was too shrill (I can handle it now). I got an extremely inexpensive viola, and as bad as it was, I liked the C string. I upgraded my viola pretty quickly, and practiced it, as well as my violin, until this past July, when I found an excellent teacher. My viola teacher has really advanced my playing, on both viola and, after several months, (and a violin upgrade), on violin. I’ve gotten past the Vivaldi concerto in A minor (D minor for viola), and I am working on selected movements from the Bach Cello Suites on viola, as well as the Vivaldi double violin concerto in A minor and the Bach Violin Concerto in A minor, first movement on violin. Problem is, I played these when I was younger, I really need to play something I haven’t played before. I need the joy of learning a piece that builds on skills I already have, while allowing me to learn something totally new to me. Hearing your performance compelled me to get the sheet music. My first read through will be tomorrow. Your performance was inspiring, once again, I thank you for posting this!
Thank you so much for sharing your story, britcommom! I’m delighted this video has inspired you to explore more literature. I too love the C string, so getting a 5-string was the logical step. Feel free to check out my video DREAM WITH ME, in which I perform one of my compositions for the instrument. Have fun and enjoy the journey!
I absolutely love this song. I’m playing this piece for solo and ensemble. I listen to this video three times a day. Thank you so much for this wonderful video.
I have to play this piece during the holidays, that would keep me well occupied... Fortunately it's a magnificent masterpiece! Congratulations to Gary Kuo, it's splendid! Bonjour de France!
My music teacher played this piece when she was auditioning for music school and I have a photocopied version of what she played. After listening to this recording, I realize that this sounds quite different than when an alto saxophone plays it.
I love violin (I don't play it though) but I am learning this on my baritone saxophone, and the part in allegro that starts at 4:25 in the vid always gets me, even though it's a rather simple part. Anyway, I love the video and your other music. You play beautifully btw.
I'm playing from 2:57-6:06 for my solo at a performance and this is what's helping me get the tempo because it's not like super fast but it's still really nice and lively so yeah this is the only video I've found with a really nice tempo so thank you :)
Wow, thank you so much for the great video! This piece is so touching and as an adult learner learning this piece alone, this is one of those pieces I dream to play. I practice and thus will be listening to your playing quite a lot! So thank you :)
I'm an adult beginning student in my fifth year and my teacher just gave me this piece. It is helpful to see this video to understand a number of the nuances my teacher is discussing with me as well as to see the gestalt (my lessons are now virtual due to physical distancing and so live accompaniment is no longer and option). Of particular help is the Largo...which is not as Largo-y as many. Thank you!!
Hi, Allison! I’m delighted this performance is of benefit to your growth as a musician! Thank you for sharing your story and best wishes to you and your instructor!
Gary Kuo Thank you for these kind words. You motivated me and I will work on my skills. And maybe one day it’ll sound less like a duck and more like this amazing piece.
My pleasure. I'm a violist and there's a transcription of this sonata for viola-- lowered a fifth (to B-flat)-- and you've inspired me to work on it. :)
What beautiful Music ! For 1/2nd at 10:03,.... Uh Oh ..Oh Brandenburg ^ 3rd Mvt.... Nice to see how differently and beautifully one can develop a little impulse

A truly beautiful piece of music from one of the greatest composers ever (I think number 4 after B, B and M). Thanks for putting it up here. Masterful execution!

The violinist plays with significant meaning to Handel's sonata. It is spontaneous and vibrant. Delightful rendition, thanks for sharing.
