insurance is the biggest scam. you can pay them money for years, but paying out claims that you made is the last thing they want to do. "i'm sorry lahaina burned down, but those people 100 miles away in mililani will help cover the cost."

Insurance is gambling. You are beating you'll need it. The companies are betting you won't and keep paying for it. The insurance companies insures the property on the value insured at but as property values increase, cost of labor increases, and the cost of materials & shipping increases, of course the cost of rebuilding is no longer the cost replacing its damage or complete replacement. What could make it worse if the insurance companies changes the formula of how much premium based on what percentage of rebuilding. If it was set for 50% when first purchased and it was low, the company might increase the percentage to 80% of the rebuilding of the current building. Values change. Just like buying that 20 year old car at 30,000 but now buying a modern version might cost you 50,000.

"Likely to remain for a few years." In other words, expect another raise in rates in a few years. It happens like this every time. Prices go up, they rarely, if ever, go down...

A disaster leaves many victims, but one way or another companies will never be one. They are going to get their money one way or another. You pay for insurance for decades and don't use it? It is your lost. You need to use it? It is you lost because premiums are just going to be raised. Either way the insurance company will come out on top.

I’ve always had homeowners insurance! this year no Not this year because it went up to 7500 a year , how do they expect us to pay that! and what about people buying new homes that up their payment by at least 500 a month very very sad . I believe that there’s more and more foreclosures on homes. I’ve talked to several people that have to close on their homes because they can’t afford their payments no longer so they’re without a home out on the streets once again once again, the government plays a big role. Remember that at voting time the reason I say that is because stocks are down and so your insurance companies lost because they invest their money just as well as they pay out money. They got paid from a lot of people for many many years and that money was invested. I still believe that the insurance companies do have a lot of money still, but little people always pay the price

Are there any other options for disaster, we can put more money away and act like a small group insurance company for your area , maybe we think about the risk before building a house where it shouldn't be. If you're able to pay for it. You could put it anywhere even on a cliff for your great view. (Insurance companies are business that should make money or they will be out of business) more risk higher rates.
