This is awesome! I was at Magdala 6 months ago and was blown away. This brings another layer to my understanding of Magdala and it’s relevance to the gospels and Christ. Thanks!

I can just hear that boy saying:" Here's some bread and fish, use these." and then i have to ask myself; "Who had the greatest faith?" Imagine if you will a young boy looking out at that huge crowd and thinking; "I know it isn't much, but He can do it".
Great video but Magdala is indeed specifically mentioned in the Bible. Matthew 15:39 KJV [39] And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.
Thank you! And yes, as we mentioned at approx. 7:30 of the video, the word used in Matt. 15:39 is commonly translated to be indicating a general region "the region of Magadan" rather than a specific city as the KJV seems to indicate, which is what Barry is implying later in the video. While the city itself may not actually be mentioned as specifically as, say, Jerusalem or Jericho was in other parts of the gospels, the region of that city certainly is mentioned there in Matthew and it is very likely that Jesus Himself visited and taught in the synagogue that they have discovered there at Magdala...which is very very exciting!
Nach der Gottesmutter Maria gehört die hl. Maria Magdalena zu den größten Frauen des Christentums. Die Ostkirche ehrt sie mit dem Titel: Apostelgleiche / Isapostola
The gospels regularly record that Jesus preached and performed miracles in many synagogues (Luke 4:15, Matthew 4:23). Luke 4:44 says “So he continued to travel around, preaching in synagogues throughout Judea.” While we don’t know specifically that He visited this particular synagogue, the gospels record that Jesus spent three years teaching and preaching in synagogues throughout the region of Galilee and Judea, which was a relatively small area - it is logical to assume that He could have preached in the synagogue there in Magdala.
@@appianmedia interesting. I recently saw a relic of Mary Magdalene's at the Metropolitan Museum, and thought- well, it kind of doesn't matter... tangible evidence does not really embolden faith. It's interesting, but no more.

It is pretty amazing to be able to stand where Jesus stood. The one place where we knew he actually was.

Wasn't Mary Magdalene From Magdala ?
That is what is meant by “Magdalene”; a woman of Magdala.

Thank you for the info. My Presbyterian and later Catholic Church barely mentioned Magdala and even disparaged her.
Why would you think that Christ would have preached in this particular synagogue? Did he ever preach in any synagogue?
