@@aekelly yep. Nangilima is an afterlife world from beloved Swedish childrens book author Astrid Lindgrens book Bröderna Lejonhjärta (Brothers Lionheart). In the book the two brothers have an incredible bond. The younger brother is terminally ill and his big brother cheers him up with tales of the paradise afterlife land Nangijala. A fire causes them to have to jump out the window of their home, the big brother dies from the fall. A while after the younger brother dies from is illness. They meet up in Nangijala only to find the world devastated by war from the evil oppressor Tengil. After defeating Tengil, due to the terrible wounds the big brother had suffered, they decide to move on to the true paradise afterlife, in the world Nangilima. This world is reached by committing suicide by jumping of a cliff.
So yeah, incredibly dark lyrics.

I listened to this when a patient of mine died. I work in the elderly care and she was the first person I've ever seen dead. It was terrifying but she was in so much pain, and her relatives rarely visited her. She was almost deaf and she didn't have an ear aid since she couldn't afford it. I still used to talk for her and showed her my pets which she appreciated. She was the sweetest little lady. She didn't deserve to die, but I was relived because it looked like she passed away peacefully.
As I had finished my shift and waited for my cab I sat outside and listened to this song, remembering her. Hoping that she was in a better place. She'll will always have a special place in my heart. Rest in peace, and hope Nangalima is taking good care of you!

Such a good song with lyrics that are very bittersweet.
If you're wondering about the title Nangilima you should look up "the Brothers Lionheart". It is a very famous children's fantasy novel written by Astrid Lindgren. Most everyone who grew up in Sweden before the 00's will know it for sure.
It was quite a sad story, if i recall, its been a long time since i read it.

Nangilima is the place you go when you die in a Swedish childrens book by Astrid Lindgren, gives the song a dark undertone. But a beautiful song!
More specifically, it's from the story "The Brothers Lionheart". It's a story about two brothers and they go to the afterlife land of Nangiyala, where an epic adventure awaits. A cruel warlord name Tengil rules the land with an ironfist by commanding a dragon to do his bidding. All stand helpless before Tengil and his dragon, until the Lionheart brothers arrive and organize an underground resistence movement.
SPOILER ALERT:
The book ends with how the final battle is won, but the brothers are mortally wounded from the battle with the dragon... and they both die again. This time they go to land of Nangilima. One could argue that Nangiyala was a sort of purgatory, a place of pain and fear that you had to go through to prove your mettle, and Nangilima was the real Heaven where bliss and happiness reigns supreme.
@@My2Cents1 What really strikes me is that the song kind of implies that they are already in "Nangijala", meaning they are already dead (metaphorically, obviously) and in this dreadful place of pain and fear, as you called it. Because Nagilima is the place you go to when you die a second time, this time in the first place of afterlife. I really thought a lot about why the song is not called Nangijala, because it seems purposely and meaningful. It being the actual place of peace really makes sense, but what it says about where they currently are is also impactful for me.

Partially; recomend looking up nangilima; closest you'll come is a sweedish story about two brothers.
Nangilima is a referens to the death/the afterlife. It's from a VERY popular Swedish book by Astrid Lindgren.. She was such a popular children's author (and activist) for children's rights that her image is on our 20 kronors sedlar (money). The book is called "Bröderna Lejonhjärta" which kind of means The Brothers Lionheart, there's a movie too. It's very sad ❤️
