The song is no less weird in German. The translation is accurate. 🙂

    Hey nice reaction!
There is a slight error in the translation in my opinion.
"Die Mutter hat das Meer geholt" has a strong double meaning
1: "The Mother has been taken by the sea"
2: "The Mother brought the sea"
The sea is probably the lust the boy has inside him.
Here is what i think the other metaphors mean.
spawing time = breeding time (probably the most direct innuendo)
    fish = dick
old skin = condom? (not sure)
    mouth = vagina
    big red eyes = breasts/nipples
    dead/fish milk = sperm
the sisters dont have time = breeding time is over, work is done ;)
yeah i listened to Rammstein when i was a kid and did'nt understand a single innuendo.

at all i agree with all, except with "Die Mutter hat das Meer geholt". Let me add a third thought. The Mother went to the sea to suicide/drwon herself.

@@sobtheusuper8647nah, the two translations were correct with the double meaning. Suicide doesn’t fit to the translation. He would have phrased it differently

@@i_can_c_u_2295 as native german speaker im able to figure out deeper meanings. also poems/music intended the consumer some leeway.
till never goes for straight meanings and fix in interview the guess behind the lines.
so taken by the sea is a common phrase for suicide-in german. it may fit to the context.

@@sobtheusuper8647 I‘m a native too. Also hallo und grüß dich :) und eigentlich nein. Ich habe noch nie die Bezeichnung „Sie hat das Meer geholt“ für Suizid gehört. Wenn, dann für den Tod an sich. „20 Soldaten wurden vom Meer geholt“ kennt man als Bezeichnung. Das heißt nicht, dass sich grade 20 Soldaten umgebracht haben.

In this song the fish is the metaphor for "matrimonial peacemaker" LOL!

Thanks that you take the time to really understand the lyrics. You are right about the incest. The song is full of hints about it. It's not about a specific case, just about the general theme. Greetings from Germany

What skar17511 writes is correct. "Die Mutter hat das Meer geholt" can have the from him mentioned two meanings, but i have never heard that someone brought the sea (with her or him). And due to the context, when after "Die Mutter hat das Meer geholt" follows that the sisters have no time, i find it pretty likely that the first mentionend meaning that "The mother has been taken by the sea" is probably the correct one.

    Translation
    Spawning Time
    He loves his mother
    And from the side
He gives the fish to her
It sheds its skin before empty testicles
The old skin falls on the floor

    He loves his sister
    And from behind
The fish eats to the mouth
The gills still bloody from sucking
    On the big red eyes

    Spawning time
    it is spawning time

    He loves his dog
    Oh God from above
The fish now kisses with his tongue
He spits dead milk in your face
You do not dare to touch him

    Spawning time
    Fish milk everywhere
    It is spawning time

The mother has been taken by the sea
    Spawning time
    The sisters have no time
    Spawning time
The dog is waving from the shore
    Spawning time
    The fish needs his loneliness
    Spawning time

Kann man dies denn wirklich alles so übersetzen?? Unsere Sprache ist so vielfältig in der Aussage. Damit nicht deutschsprachige Menschen einen ungefähren Eindruck von dem Text dann haben, jaa....
Till Lindemann in seinen wirklichen Aussagen zu verstehen, ist für uns selbst schon ein großer Spagat.

The subtitles are pretty much right on and the content of the song is as odd and disturbing as one would think it is.
As far as I know, there isn't a specific incident this one is inspired by though.

really like your interest in lyrics - specially in Rammstein songs....
As I can see in your video list, you missed at least 2 great songs/lyrics of them. Check out "Spring" and "Dalai Lama" and look for the so called "custom/fan based videos"! You'll not regret it ;-)

This one is obviously not specific to Fritzl since it was written and released much earlier (1995) than the time the Fritzl case became known (around 2008).

"Laich" means fish egg in german. "Laichzeit" is the season where the fish lay their eggs.

If Lindemann songs about fish/ fishing/ sea .... Its Always about sexual stuff in German to fish someone means to pick up someone (for sex) and Till loves metaphors like that and created own ones.
