The Anya Taylor-Joy question was a trick question. She's only American because she was born in Miami while her parents were on holiday. She spent almost no time there, living her first six years in Argentina and the rest of her life in the UK. At best, that means she's both American and British, but realistically/culturally, she's British. There's no world in which American is the only correct answer.
American-born, but not American is how I'd describe Anya Taylor-Joy. Just because someone is born somewhere else does not make that person a certain nationality. I can't imagine going up to someone saying "you're American because you were born here." .... Now I kind of want to try that with my best friend's brother. He was born in Germany, but lived most of his life in America.
@@GeminiWolfstarGamingDepends on what you mean when you use the demonym. If you're born in the US, legally you automatically become a US citizen, so in that regard, she's American. But yeah, I agree, culturally she's definitely not.
Unless she has double citizenship the world in which she's American is the one where she has an American passport. Everything else is opinion and taste, ergo irrelevant to the quiz.
@@GeminiWolfstarGaming I grew up in the USA and am an American, but I got German citizenship at age 23 due to a German grandparent. I am legally German, but I have had Germans tell me to my face they don't consider me German. And I'm okay with that, honestly. What you're considered is more than just what country's passport you have.
They were just plain wrong about her. She’s American only because of American laws about being born here automatically giving you citizenship. Her parents were in Miami on a vacation. She has British citizenship by virtue of her parents. At the very least she would be considered both, but should be considered more British than American.
The only thing American about Anya Taylor Joy is the fact that she was born in the US while her parents were on holiday. To say she's American over being British is ridiculous. If anything she's Argentinian.
“I feel like those are all, like, American accents” -Sofia after hearing the producer list South African, Nigerian and British accents. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Anya Taylor-Joy was born in Miami, Florida, to Dennis Alan Taylor, and Jennifer Marina Joy. She has stated that her birth in Miami was a "fluke", since her parents had been vacationing the city at the time; because of her birthplace, she holds American citizenship due to the country's jus soli nationality law. Her father is an Argentine of English and Scottish descent, the son of a British father and an Anglo-Argentine mother. Her mother was born in Zambia to an English diplomat father, David Joy, and a Spanish mother from Barcelona. Saying she is more American than British is just dumb.
Gillian Anderson may have been born by American parents in Chicago but ask any UK person...every single one would tell you she's indisputably a British soul. I actually unironically regard her as a Brit although I know that she's technically not.
Anya is the definition of international. She's American, Argentinian, & British. Technically born in the U.S. (Miami) while parents were on vacation, she grew up initially in Argentina and then her family moved to England. Her dad is English and Scottish (his father was British but his mother was Anglo-Argentine), while her mom was born in Africa (Zambia) but has English and Spanish (from Barcelona) heritage.

@@MaraMara89in that case she shouldn’t even be on the list, and it makes her even less American
She's very much British slightly Argentinian and pretty much not American, her dad was born in Argentina but his parents (her grandparents) were English and her mother was born in Zambia to an English father and Spanish mother... yes she was born in America but she was born to English parents while they were there on holidays and then raised in Argentina til 6 then moved to England @@MaraMara89
Anya Taylor was born in the U.S. (Miami), but only while her parents were on vacation. She then grew up initially in Argentina and then her family moved to England. Her dad is English, while her mum was born in Africa (Zambia, of Spanish descent). So English and Spanish heritage. 🤷♂
Jaxon literally look exactly like Andrew Garfield
I just turned 54 and knew every one of these. Something is wrong in the universe when I know more pop culture than teenagers. 😉
Andrew Garfield and Tobey Tobey Maguire are both American. Tom Holland is the only British one of the three. I think the producers should do an extra Google search next time.
well andrew garfield is actually both. Born in the US, but one parent is british and one american. He also has both citizenships. And he grew up in england
So they messed up on that. He has duel citizenship too
Gillian Anderson was born in Chicago but she grew up in London
I got this wrong as I knew she had Scottish ancestry and she did have a Scottish accent before.
@@Jinty92definitely didn't have a Scottish accent 😂
Dani gives off major "raised in LA and hasn't traveled the US" vibes lol. Texas, Florida, NJ and NC are random places? My guy, he didn't say Lawrence, Kansas or Jenks, Oklahoma 😂 THOSE are random places
😂😂 i think if they'd have said Kentucky, Missouri, or Arkansas I'm sure his brain would have exploded. I can absolutely picture a "Paris & Nicole" thing with him if he ever sets foot in the South or Midwest. Him in the Louisiana Swamps or Indiana corn fields 😂 he'd be 3 sheets to the wind while sober as a judge. Bless his heart ♥
The girl sitting with him saying Benedict Cumberpatch was American was even more baffling.
Wait... you say Anya is American because she was born in Miami, even though that was an accident because her parents just happened to be there on holiday (which she has talked about many times)... but you dont count Andrew Garfield as being American, despite being born there and having an American parent.... ummmm.... ok... O.o
His dad's parents are British so he's a duel national, Andrews whole family on both sides are British
3:37 Anya also spend most of her childhood in Argentina 🇦🇷🫶🏻
Love hearing americans try and figure out English accents like would love to see them do a place the accent and get like cornish, scouse, welsh, essex, and chelsea accents and watch them struggle with the concept that Chelsea is only about an hour and a half from Essex yet they sound so diffrent
Wait wait wait. HOLD UP. Sorry, but I have to say this...wrong Suicide Squad for Idris Elba. He was never in Suicide Squad (which is what the pic was also of). He was in THE Suicide Squad.
Sorry, I love him and wanted to make sure he was given the proper credits 🤣🤣🤣
I actually thought that Gillian Anderson is British.
15:18 🤣 Yes, they know something that you don't. Leo's pretty infamous for it by now.
5:07 Anya Taylor Joy born in Miami but her family went to Argentina (Buenos Aires) a few months later, so her first language is spanish. She went to London at six.
Gillian Anderson was another born in the US but also has a home in the UK and can easily switch accents.
Shes lived in Britain longer than she has in America and has joint nationality
I screamed when you put Julianne Moore on the board I’m glad you gave her recognition she’s amazing
I need to know why Angel was at Jamie Foxx’s Halloween party 😂
I had the SAAAAME thought!
Her being way too excited about being just the right age for Leo DiCaprio makes me believe she's 15, no older than 16. So last year she was about 14... at Jamie Foxx's house for a party. Child got a thing for the older fellas.
And she just casually mentions it like its nothing. 😀
I thought the same
IIRC, one of her close relatives is a friend of his.
I had looked up her mom on Instagram a while back.
She's a talent agent.
Julianne Moore is actually both. She has a Scottish mother and has both British and American citizenship.
4:59 Wrong. She's American because she was born in Miami when her parents were on vacation but she is also British
He has dial citizenship, but its technically British if you pick
Born in Miami, raised in Argentina until age ten, then moved to England
@kurtsudheim825 She. There is no "technically". She is a dual citizen... When she is in the United States, she is considered a US citizen first. When she is in the UK, she is considered a British citizen first.
Andrew Garfield is technically a trick question because he was born in LA but raised in England
yeah, for Anya Taylor-Joy they take the birth place even if she was just born there while her parents where on vacation. but for Andrew they don't. He even lived longer in the US as a child than she did. and they both have dual citizenship
Although Gillian Anderson was born in Chicago, she was raised half her life in London, then returned to the US as a kid/teen, and is now living in England. So technically even though she was born in the US, she is British in the sense that part of her British accent is actually real
